After problems with the combine, we got delayed a couple of days but then the sun came out and I hoped we'd make up ground by combining into the night..

Harry is a man blessed with the ability to make things interesting. If my teachers when I was at school and college were like him, I would have taken a far more vested interest.

Too many of my teachers were de-mob from the war , and just utter rubbish . When the young purpose-build ones came through the system , the difference was significant !

I was trying to work out where that was, 1st though was A40b London Rd after the climb up onto the Cotswolds. I lived in Cheltenham, worked in Witney then London so travelled the road often. But no hill to drop down so I was wrong, again!!!! Only Case I drove was a FE loading shovel, didn't like it had sticky bucket leavers that held in till bucket or boom reached highest point. Much preferred the Matbro Mastiff the 1st articulated steering machine, I understand they sold the patient to Cat and made a fortune.

I have been into tractors as much as cars for donkeys years, and have had to keep the passion suppressed. Now you have started this series, Pandora's box will be unleashed, which will make my wife happy as she is a big tractor nut coming from a working farm. Thanks Harry!

We are always very polite and accommodating to the farmers with their combines and other agricultural equipment, because when the snow comes they are the ones pulling us out of trouble. Having said that, I have seen round bales go walkabout across fields and off flat beds onto the road and off into the distance.

I grew up in rural Wales and navigated on some Motoring News Road Rally Championship events (Cilwendeg, Red Dragon, that sort of stuff) in the 1970’s. I’ve been living in Western Australia for over 30yrs, but still feel I can identify with your content on both channels - love them both. I appreciate your videos, keep up the good work.

Don't grow small grains around these parts so learned something about the differences between wheat and barley. That's the nicest watch I've ever seen a farmer wear. Also glad dad's farm was in the boondocks. Heads of 30+ ft we'd put on a trailer but we could go down road with 20 ft heads / equipment were no problem. Keep the videos coming.

Thanks for the in depth chat about wheat and barley growth, combining and review of how things are on the farm. I was talking to a farmer yesterday evening in north Hampshire, whilst I was doing some photography and making a video of the Case harvesting barley and the farmer was saying how the rain has delayed his harvest and that he has only managed to harvest half of his fields due to the rain. All the very best and I hope that you get good yields. (A new subscriber you have.)

Absolutely brilliant Harry as per usual - fascinating stuff! Been an avid fan and subscriber from very early days of Harry's Garage (even before actually during the Evo period) so I am very happy to see this new channel! Perhaps may be worth mentioning to also subscribe to your farm channel each time you do your usual closing sign-offs after each car video? Am confident this will migrate a high percentage of your large existing loyal subscribers across who will greatly enjoy seeing this other side of your life too.

Your explanations of the grain types, when you can harvest and why you can't harvest, are just great. I don't see that level of explanation anywhere else. Do farms your size generally not have a grain dryer given your seasonal weather patterns? The discussion on cultivating and why was very good as well.
@brianovington4 жыл бұрын
Here in Ireland the farmers would cut at 20 per cent. Damper climate. Keep up the good work.
@Theorimlig4 жыл бұрын
Wow, you really have to be lucky to get your crops dry. Here in Sweden almost all arable farms have a grain dryer with grain silo storage. Nearly all the grain that is harvested (things may be different in the far south of the country) has to be dried post-harvest.

Love these videos - defo new favourite Chanel. Have a question about the machinery, if a farmer thinks that they need to wait a few days or so for the right moisture content, is it easier to leave the tractors, combine, etc out in the field(s) or does everything have to go backwards and forwards to the farm everytime ?
@chrisfastrakdavies25984 жыл бұрын
We had a Fendt ideal T9 and a Case Axial flow the updated model on this vid and I loved the Case but didn't get on with the Fendt. 45m of header was over kill but they insisted that that's what we should use and it was moving from field to Field that gave us problems. Everything about the Case was awesome.

Thanks for your ace channel. Comine harvesters not designed with linseed in mind? What happened to the UK linen industry? What is great for farm animal bedding used to be the fibre for top drawer finest linen fabrics. We import cotton and cotton clothes; perhaps we should be wearing and exporting linen instead.
