Hi everybody! This was the first car I drove for Cars & Bids a few weeks ago. It was soooooo fun, and I love talking about the history of Corvettes. I appreciate you all watching : ) Sorry if you notice any weirdness with the audio - this was our first time trying new mics, and it took some trial and error to get the settings right. The 'Vette that clocked 212 mph at the track in Papenburg, Germany, but ironically was not street legal on public streets in Germany or anywhere in the EU because of the necessary middle bulge in the hood.

That was the most interesting thing about the review. Your comment got me remembering two old Top Gear episodes. The Mustang GT500 isn't legal in the EU either because of the front splitter and front "winglettes" for pedestrian crash standards. The late Sabine Schmitz also beat the Mach 1's claimed Nuremberg time in one round!

Great video! Two hints: 1. audio needs some kind of low pass filter to cut out the high pitched sounds throughout, and some normalization of sound level 2. think about making L cut when describing things, eg. showing bonnet visibility or rear window visibility while driving and talking

My 2017 Grandsport Z07 with all the options including a Lingenfelter supercharger is basically the same car. It priced out at around 130k as well after 30k in supercharger mods. It is really fun to drive with the automatic. And if you miss shifting there are still paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

I am lucky to own a 7MT one of these. It is amazing. Brakes, ride and noise are 10 out of 10. Steering is a little artificial. She is about 300lbs too heavy for greatness. I wish the GM would have a GT3RS version of the ZR1 - light and stripped out. Even the optional competition seats are heated and ventilated. T6060 in my CT5 BW is definitely a better shifting trans than the 7SPD in the ZR1. But 7MT over the 8speed auto any day!! PS. The “things” that are holding the wing up are called the uprights, I am pretty sure.

I can wait to get one and put a JBL tuner on it... but where would I put it? Maybe I could put to on the hide away glove box, that way the dealership can't find it and I can keep my warranty! :) Then I'll have to modify the exhaust so other Z1 owners will stop trying to beat of the line at the local school crosswalks! :)

Market demand isn't the only reason the ZR-1 was offered in an automatic. The C-7 ZR-1 was intended to be the pinnacle of the FR configuration, before changing over to the RR config. By the time of the C-7 ZR-1 was being completed, dual clutch automatics had faster shift times than (literally) humanly possible. So, for the Front engine Rear wheel drive config C-7 ZR-1 to be the pinnacle of that configuration, they would HAVE to offer the automatic, as automatics were the pinnacle of shifting technology.....

I absolute loved the way it looked, It has a lot of true corvertte personality, however I would everyday choose a rear engine over a front one but the looks of the C8 never grew on me, looks kinda cartoonish imo. Great review BTW!

The C7 was a disappointment. That interior looks so cheap. The slush box automatic is painfully slow. It makes total sense for GM to completely change the 'Vette for the C8 generation. The basic Stingray can almost keep up with the most expensive C7. Yeah, that front engine 'Vette looks so ancient now.
