I'm a race instructor, one of the things it looks like you could do (maybe you already do and I'm wrong?) is left foot brake in corners you don't change gears. It can save you ~0.3 a second per corner you are able to do it. Sometimes it's faster to hold a gear, bounce the redline for a second rather than changing gears, then left foot trail brake in to the corner.
@shrekvt4 жыл бұрын
Also you need to be heavier on the brake. That car is definitely more capable than 1.2 or 1.3 g of braking, even on stock tires.

I actually think there might’ve been air in the lines from the bleeding and brake fluid change. KZbin comment driving instruction aside, I’m just tracking it for fun. Not going to push it past 7 or 8/10s because if I ball it up it can’t be replaced.

A friend of mine does track time with his ZL1. He's always been a competent street driver, and does o.k. on the track. However, he said he learned a lot about the capabilities of the car by letting a professional driver drive him around the track in his own car. Said he learned a lot about all, but especially about driving the car in further to the turn and using the brakes to their full potential..."I thought my eyeballs were going to pop out with the negative G." You might consider what a pro can show you if you haven't already. You obviously have physical gifts, you just need a good instructor.

Getting an instructor is going to do wonders for you. It not only will cut down on your times, but make you safer on track. It's crazy how fast an experienced driver can go in a slow car compared to an amateur in a fast car. Cool comparison anyway...thanks for the video C.W.

Good lord I love the zr1 with the ZTK package!! I’d LOVE a c7 ZR1 . I had a 2006 LPE-606 (Lingenfeltet ) z06 Corvette and man!!! It’s massaged to 606 hp but it’s a naturally aspirated 606hp and being the LS7 7.0 liter 427 with dry sump. It was an insanely consistent, maneuverable and fast car for a 15 year old N/A car. Black exterior, wheels and solid red interior. Miss that car SO much! There’s a local guy here that used to build custom straight pipe (dual stingers for the c7 z06 out of 3.25 and my gosh it sounded soooo epic winding Up! Just before I sold it I came across a blue devil c6 zr1 and it my youngest daughter wasn’t due to be born that week I’d of bought it! The c6 zr1 prices are rock bottom now with the c8 out , 3 generations old and and of course the c6 looks pretty old now BUT they are still the rally rare. It wAs at a Cadillac realer and the sales manager came out and said yeah this z06 is nice! Me thinking “did he just cal a zr-1 blue devil a z06?’😍. 12,900 original miles and the sales manager that clearly had NO idea how rare an a risk blue devil is said they’d been sitting on it so he’d clear it out for $35k!!!!????, I shoulda done it , the ex wife and I age divorced now anyway so would t have mattered , the. At least I could take my 3 little girls out for rides! I A proud 42 year old dad of 3 beatiful daughters 3,12,13 and I say extra proud because they’d get up early for school so i could take them In the “z06” ad they call it. Always getting an afternoon call to see if u could pick them up. Definitely my daughters! Man that’s a beautiy!

Nice video. I have had many C5 & C6 Z06's and now have the SS 1LE. One things that seems to hold true is the Alpha chassis of the 6th gen. Camaro is much better behaved in the rear-end that the transverse leaf spring C5, C6, C7's Vettes. The Corvette tends to snap oversteer with a twitchy feels at the limit, while the Camaro is much more planted and stable. Did you notice the same thing? I think for front end grip and lower center of gravity , the Corvette is better, but when the suspension is loaded up and is upset mid corner , the Alpha chassis's rear-end is more confidence inspiring and stable.

You can see how much stiffer the chassis of the C7 is, the Camaro looked like it was having serious front end push not sure if your tires were greasy or tires pressures were off? I had the baby version of both a 1LE 6th gen and a C7 Grandsport.

@merlingt14 жыл бұрын
E.B. The Corvette just feels different. I know this is subjective especially across different generations of Camaros and Corvettes but I feel like I am wearing the Corvette when I get in it. It has better visibility and better dynamics, the C5Z is probably one of the lightest Vettes at around 3,100 lb (very low center of gravity too) even if not as powerful or fast as some as today’s horsepower beasts, it is very responsive and “lively”.

You likely haven't experienced an Alpha Camaro. It's not your same ol'e Camaro built on the Fbody platform, nor is it an overweight Zeta car. Many people claim Alpha > Ybody as it gives you close to the same limits while being much more forgiving. If you were to go test drive say a GEN6 SS 1LE or ZL1 I highly doubt that you wouldn't be extremely impressed with it if you're basing your perception of what a Camaro is off of the Fbody and Zeta cars that pre-dated it.

Hey Mover, I used to race go karts as a kid and super late mods in my teens. I know you don't go to the track much and you don't want to trash your nice car, but I have a few pointers. From the looks of it (it's kind of hard to tell on video), I think you can go much deeper going into the corners and from the looks of your brake and accelerating meters you're taking too much time going from the gas to the brake, gotta be instantaneous. Have you ever tried left foot braking, it is awkward and uncomfortable at first but you get used to it and you can instantly go from gas to braking. Not trying to bash you, just want to help you. Go deep and let that blue bullet eat! Edit, you did go from gas to brake instantaneously several times, you're not bad at all, and shit man, you'll always be faster than me going mach and shit haha.

What GM needs to do it throw a LT5 in a new GEN6 model and go GT500 hunting. I would say call it a Z/28 but that name needs to be left to a badarse N/A SBC. What I would really love to see is a LS7 equivalent in the new GEN5 SBC motors. Call it a LT7 with a 4" stroke and 4.125" bore and some heads that insane amounts of atmosphere and put it in the C8 Z06 and a GEN6 Z/28. That's wishful thinking on my part though. I always felt GM kind of half-stepped with the LT4 and it's small blower. Even compared to the 13-14 GT500 Trinity motor and basic Hellcat motor the LT4 just seemed outclassed. They should of thrown a TVS2300 on it instead of the small blower they used. Design the hood to fit the motor, and not the motor to fit a hood. FTW?

V8 Supercars are great fun as well. But yea, be interested. Doing it on a Sat. or Sun early afternoon or late morning perhaps as my lifetime works on wife time. Probably can help get some drivers interested perhaps even a free broadcaster maybe, could happen, don't know. Might also work in getting some of your books out there maybe, could happen, dont' know :) Might want check out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/omitdqiAfqmjb6s where Dale Jr. talks about the event last week.
