I don't think they're intentionally milking this. It's terrible to drag it out and I'm sure they know it. Everyone who is interested already knows the outcome. They need to recruit more help on editing and producing it.

Please stop talking about what's going on in the other rounds during the game. You spoiled part 2 of this video in part 1. If you want this to grow to its maximum potential you need to account for the people who just won't bother watching the second part since you announce the winners in the middle of these matches.

He is still one of the best, he has made it to finals every single year and won 7. Yes he messed up this year, but at the end of the day, he is a 7 time champ vs a 1 time champ joseph.

The video you see is software reading the video signal from the NES and re-drawing it in HD. There was a glitch in the software (not the actual game) and we all got a Canadian beatbox rave as a treat.

It heared it was a problem with the overlay software. They're using software to detect where the pieces are and redraw them in higher quality. The same software is also why the scores can go higher than 999999. Someone said that the colors were correct on Matts screen, meaning he didn't have a disadvantage, luckily.

To the YT editor: Thank you To the Tetris tournament scheduler who should be interested in viewership: this was incredibly poorly done and its impossible to follow with an important game three happening at the same time the champ is playing. The commentary was lopsided yet the matchup above was far more exciting (and I'm a huge Joseph guy). Not trying to be a jerk but there is a long way to go.
