2019 Genesis G90 5.0 Ultimate - Luxury of a German Car?

I thought it was a Lexicon audio system, I loved my 2018 so much I just bought a 2023 and honestly, I like them both for different reasons. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned, sold not one but two S-Class Merceds-Benz for Genesis Vehicles and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!!

Harman owns numerous brands - including JBL, Infinity, Mark Levinson and Lexicon - among others - and all those brands are incorporated in the the Genesis systems. The system is marked as "Lexicon" but that's a bit misleading - as Lexicon only made equipment for signal processing.

Ok so I’m seeing these go for 90-100k or more. I just a 2019 exactly like the one in the video with 32k miles for 34k . Seriously considering it, but why hasn’t it held its value? Are there issues with it?

One point that frequently goes unmentioned is that large luxury sedans in Europe and increasingly in Asia are often purchased or leased by companies for or by their executives and driven by chauffeurs, a practice that has never been common in the US. That means that back seat accommodations and features are especially important in this class. Until recently, that has meant Audi's, BMW's, and Mercedes. But in the first five months after the introduction of the G90 in Korea, the sale of German luxury sedans dropped by more than a third.

I went to Genesis dealer and they said you can use regular gas. I am happy to hear that but a bit surprised.

Really solid. It almost is like the old Lexus LS. Honestly the pricing beats Germans and Lexus. Their weakness is dealer network which is non-existent. Lexus dealers are the bomb and treat you like a king or queen, with superb loaner cars, magnificent donuts and danish and coffee, and treating you like their own children. Until then when they do something about their dealer network, Genesis is a brand you are just taking some chance on with no resale value to speak.

how would awd vs rwd impact in real world normal slow driving non snow areas ? does awd really matter if youre driving around speed limit and no snow ?

It was the same car with a different grille and headlights, and different taillights. Otherwise - bolt for bolt the same car. Sadly it has gone downhill from there. @@CarCoachReports

The "German" cars, especially BMW and MERCEDES are developing a reputation for being unreliable! Many people lease them or if they do buy one, they get rid of it as soon as the warranty expires. BMW has gotten a LITTLE better with their warranty thus making worth holding on to a little longer. I would take the G90 over a few of the German cars simply because the cost of ownership is much lower and I love the Valet service. I've driven the G90 and trust me, it can hold it's own against the so called "Staples" of the luxury automotive industry! Massaging seats would not be a deal breaker for me. Yes, it should at least have that option available however, I'll be just fine without them. A pano roof? YES! it definitely should have that. The G90 is an excellent luxury car that will be a force to be reckoned with for sure!

I agree, Genesis has really stepped up it game. You have to bring game if you want to play with the Germans. They bring everything you want and things you didn't even know you wanted!

Hyundai has made a very reliable vehicles with the top ratings across the board. So I would not be worried about owning this vehicle

The Germans were not developing that reputation - they already had it, and did so for quite some time. Owning any of the German luxobarges after 4 or 5 years made it a real crap shoot. During this generation of Genesis, Hyundai had really stepped up their game. Unfortunately - now Genesis is slipping significantly, across the board. The best cars to get from them were the 2015-2020 G80 and 2017-2020 G90.

I'm willing to bet that they disassembled an Audi s8 to come up with half of those features. Even with an extra liter, it's can't keep up and It really is too bad those burger king engineers couldn't get the massage seats. Maybe as Lauren said dollars and sense. Possible it may exceed prospective buyer's price points? These massage seats are so COMFORTABLE. It's just too weird that they backed themselves into a corner by calling it "ultimate" to the point of making no options available and then turn around and market to someone that is interested in a big fast German car but can't afford it. It's missing plenty of other options. Night vision, adaptive cruise, and air suspension to name just a few. It's missing those because the CEO says those systems are "Needlessly Complicated". An actual German car would really wow you. I think they're all great. BMW and Merc included. They're all great in they're own way.

The G90 does have adaptive cruise (one of the best functioning in the business) and you can keep your air suspension. They're Teutonic technological terrors for anyone who keeps a German car after the warranty expires. If you have the means to replace your Prussian hooptie when the lease expires or the ashtrays get full, air suspension is fantastic. But driving any Deutchmobile past 100k miles is a crap shoot. Consider air suspension to be a wear item like spark plugs or brake pads, because they will need replacing sooner or later - to the tune of $1500 for each corner plus another $1200 for the compressor. I think the first generation Audi A7 is one of the most attractive cars made in the last 50 years, but then I went to the Audi website to price one with the options I wanted. Audi nickles and dimes you for every feature until you're looking well past $100k. They even have the temerity to charge something like $800 for a driver's knee airbag! So I just bought a used CPO '18 G90 3.3T AWD with a 6 year 75000 mile b2b warranty, and a 100k mile powertrain warranty for about half of the sticker price and I couldn't be happier.

Nice ... but only if it has a good leasing offer - new. If I would try to find a used car ... definitely I would buy a german. Probably a BMW. As an exception ... a Toyota might be an option for me. ;)

why? A used German luxobarge only guarantees high maintenance and repair bills. Merc, Bimmer and Audi from the mid 2010's were all notorious for it. Genesis G80 from 2015-2020 and the G90 from 2017-2020 on the otherhand - still do not have this problem.
