I turned 18 in January and as a present from my father, received a Rolex submariner blue gold steel, the so called Rolex Bluesy. could not possibly be happier, an amazing time piece that will last me forever and one day will give to my kids. you cannot explain the feel of such a watch, you have to have it in your hand to truly appreciate everything about it. As for what I'm starting the year with watch-wise, well I've been busy, got a Grand Seiko SGBH267 for Christmas (!) and I've bought an Ophion 786 (check them out - very cool watches indeed), and I'm waiting for a Christopher Ward C65 Trident Diver coming my way hopefully next week. Oh man, I'm so happy to see the man, the myth, the legend, return! I missed your videos dearly, because they started my love for watches. I've got huge plans for 2019: I'm going to graduate from highschool, I'll move to a different city to study, I'll travel around Europe and I'm going to buy my first "expensive" vintage watch. In addition to that, I just bought some leather because I want to learn the art of making my own watchstraps. Hey TGV ,welcome back. Re: Ocean liners.... Back in the day , my grandad owned a diner in NYC. It was called The Cunard Diner and it was located across from the Cunard piers on 12th ave, (which is now Pier 90 ) In 1930’s/1940’s the sailors would disembark from the Queen Mary , Queen Elizabeth etc..and walk across to his diner as their first stop in NY. As a result , my grandfather got to know many regulars and received many “souvenirs” from the ships. I still have quite a few ...spoons, forks , salt & pepper shakers etc.. After some research , the stampings confirm they were issued to the Queen Mary approx. 1939. I also inherited his watch, a Zelcon which is still running after 70+ years.👍

II didn't get a chance to miss you as I was also laid up in hospital with a broken femur .- I am a cancer patient and recently found out it had gone to my bones. Something that could break any bone, at any time, really scary and super painful. I really missed my watch collection and I had to show my wife photos so she could bring the right one to me! I wish you well - as I wish anyone with a long term illness the best of health!

Glad to see that you're back! I have no watch purchases currently for 2018 or 2019 as of yet, as I've been very frugal. I just recently got my first real job out of university, and my goal is to buy a SARB033 in the next few months! Every day I think about finally having it but I'm much too hesitant to spend my money. It'll be the most expensive watch I have ever bought for myself when I get it, and I'm hoping I can find it used for a good price before I finally decide to do it. Damn Seiko for discontinuing it!

Aquired a Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic (38mm) in January 2019 in commemoration of my pup that passed away after 16 1/2 years of splendid friendship in November 2018. Miss her everyday. The new dog we got was born in Lancaster, PA so it is a duel purpose milestone watch. Special piece in my collection now, and I wear it everyday. That's my update. In regards to your interest in the old ocean liners I recommend a short essay written by Jeff Cooper in which he recalls a business trip his father made to England in the early 1930's. He decided to take the whole family, and it recounts the trip which started in California too New York then to England and then Europe.
