Me and my brother bought a 2019 Outback and Pro angler 14. And I can tell you guys the comparisons in this video is very accurate. I’m a taller guy and it absolutely feels like I’m kicking upwards in the outback. After about two hours of trolling (continuously peddling), the upward motion takes a toll on my lower back and the seat. I highly recommend some type of lumbar support. My brother is shorter and has no problem with the way it pedals
@RelentlessBassFishing5 жыл бұрын
Geno M great comment!

ive Watched a ton of videos that talk about the difference between the Pro angler and the Outback and you’re the only person to mention that it feels like it pedals upwards. Because this was my exact thought. After a few weeks of using the outback. I noticed the upward motion causes a lot of strain on my lower back being as I push a lot of weight against my seat because of it while peddling. On the PA it’s more of a downward feel. All leg work but more comfy. This video provides really good insight for those who are new to kayaking
@RelentlessBassFishing5 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that bro. I’m in a PA17 right now and I love it cause I pedal more downward that even the pa14. It saves my back a ton.
@Ozzypup16 жыл бұрын
Looks like a very well thought out kayak. Id love a peddle kayak as I currently have a paddle kayak. Especially on windier days. But Im not so sure yet that Id like the drive system taking up so much room in front of me. I really like having the nice open deck space that you get with a paddle kayak.
@RelentlessBassFishing6 жыл бұрын
Jason S I get your concern. It doesn’t take up that much room but it definitely isn’t open like a paddle deck. There’s give n takes with everything and you just need to figure out what is most important to you.

Hi, great review, I had a pro angler 12, and switched to the new 2019 outback, without demo it first’ I virtually thought of it this way, I traded off the weight, the room, from the pro angler, for the fishability, functionality, speed, and the virsatility, of the outback’ pretty much, what ever the pro angler can do, the new 2019 outback can do better in my opinion’ so I just love the new outback ‘ all the best !

Great review! I sold my 2017 PA12 for this. PA was great but is heavy as you said. Once I saw the new deck on the OB I was sold. Looks like it will be a perfect compromise between space and weight. I don't fish in rough water, back bays and lakes so hopefully the lower bow won't be an issue.
@RelentlessBassFishing6 жыл бұрын
J C hopefully you liked the old outback
@JC-ez9yx6 жыл бұрын
The only thing I didn’t like about the old Outback was the lack of space on the deck and it was a little difficult to stand. Other than that I liked it.

I also want to comment about cutting thru waves/high wind situation. Since you mentioned you didn’t know for sure in the video. The 2019 outback does not come standard with a gasket beneath the front hatch door. Anyone buying a 2019 outback, ask your dealership about the top gasket. Hobie gave me a free gasket. Otherwise taking on too many big waves this kayak can load up with water plenty fast from the front hatch
@kirkshammett94 Жыл бұрын
This comes to the point I’ve said for years and it’s that hobie needs to bring a new kayak to the market that’s a mix of the Outback and the PA. I have a pa and think ima go to an Outback instead. Problems I have is I wish the Outback sat slightly higher in the water and I wish it had just a bit more deck space. Problems with the PA is they are very large and heavy and if you fish smaller creeks and rivers they do not work well

Great vid man - I know it's been a minute, but would you mind answering this: I'm 6'2, 220, will mostly fish lakes and rivers in TX (2-8 ft depth)...budget's kinda blown with a $2.5k or $4.5k kayak anyway, lol, so selling motorcycle to finance purchase. It's going to either be this yak (Outback, camo) or the PA12/14. For me it's about stability (PA12/14 wins) but also not scraping the bottom/being slow (outback?). Thoughts? Thx in advance.

Looking to get my 1st fishing kayak. This one looks good but I’m a big guy 6’ 2” & 274 lbs. I’m wondering if this will be too small. Been seriously looking at the Wilderness Systems ATAK 140 and have demoed one recently and love it. Huge investment so I want to get this right. The Outback doesn’t look to have any internal rod storage and that bothers me. We’re from northern Alabama and will be primarily fishing rivers.
@RelentlessBassFishing6 жыл бұрын
Your best option would be to demo. I think I would rather be in a paddle yak if I was fishing rivers but that doesn't mean that the outback wouldn't be good. You can put the plug thing in the mirage hole and just paddle it. I don't want to tell you one way or the other, just demo so you can make that decision yourself. Either way, your gonna have a blast kayaking

How does it compare to the compass? I was planning on buying a back up kayak and keeping it as simple as possible in regards gear and electronic. I have a 2018 PA 14 and it’s fully loaded but freaking heavy.
@RelentlessBassFishing6 жыл бұрын
KFS 486 I haven’t been in a compass but the outback is a copy of the compass’ hull. I get the weight issue. Same position I’m in. I think you can’t go wrong with either decision but the compass is more simplistic and wider standing deck.
@openmind69696 жыл бұрын
I can carry the Compass non rigged sideways for quite a bit w/o putting wheels under it. But its bulky 85 pounds and installed better handles. The Outback is obviously 800$ more and adds 15 pounds for features. If you want simple and something you less heavy... Compass.
