Quality vid, really nicely edited. This Honda is a class bike, a friend used one of these on a recently completed around the world trip. The bike coped with unpaved roads in Mongolia and did the Dalton Highway in Alaska. He set of on the trip with a KTM 790 and 1290 Adventure accompanying him, both the KTMs broke down in Mongolia while the much cheaper Honda just kept going.

Just changed my oil this evening. IF you own a cb500x 2019, the engine oil drain plug is 12mm.. It's located on the left side of the bike at the rear of the oil drain pan close to the side stand. --Owner's manual says 22 pound feet of torque ( aka 30 newton meters aka 30nm) to tighten it, and yes it's horizontally screwed into the oil drain pan. Part for Fram oil filter is ph6017a, Walmart sells them for under 7 bucks USD, I use gn4 10w-30sj which is supported by Honda per the manual. Cheers.

Thanks! I know about 30 % about motorcycles and just bought a 2020 cb500x.. going to need help like this along the way
@motoryzen4 жыл бұрын
@@emprrah Very cool. From what I've heard, I don't think there is any difference between the 2019 and 2020. Please let me know if I'm wrong and there is something I'm missing. I have confirmed, if this matters to you involving interstate speeds and max realistic mpg, that a sprocket change ( +1 tooth in the front and -1 in the rear) means you can use the original stock chain. Now if you wait until say easily more than 5k miles maybe 7 to 10 and you right pretty..spiritedly, I recommend replacing that chain when you change out the sprockets. As for me, I ride like a sensible 40 something year old who values mpg over " OO..OOO LEMMIE BE FIRST!! I GOTTA BE FIRST. I GOTTA BEAT YOU TO THE RED LIGHT!! " nonsense. Thus my shifting and overall treatment of the bike is much more gently than some others, and thus my parts will last a little longer. I changed out both of my sprockets around the very early 3k miles mark. No problems at all. Stock front/rear 15t/41 sprockets meant 60mph in 6th gear meant at least 375 to 400 more rpm needed than 16t/40t sprocket set. Yeah I could have gone 36t in the rear, but that probably would have meant needing a chain with at least one or two lengths shortened versus stock to ensure once I applied/adjusted for correct tension, I'd be out of room, and I didn't want to have to deal with that yet. Hit me up if you have any questions and hopefully I can help An older guy named Sven has a youtube channel who has the same also.

That road is undulating rather than bumpy. A poorly maintained road would likely cause that suspension to crash as the 2016 CBX did. Honda use a huge spacer on top of the single spring. Long-term ownership would show this cheap suspension up. I guess youre on a test-ride bike?
@Englishbikerdan4 жыл бұрын

Good review. I had a test ride of one of these, and a CBR500R. On both of them, clutch excellent, fuel consumption amazing, engine quite good, gear change excellent. Dash a bit hard to see. Where they differed for me is I thought the CBR500R handles just so much better on the road. The X just felt high up and wobbly. Unless you really want to go off road or have really terrible roads the R (and the F I assume) handles so much better. As for A2 credentials, somewhat dearer a Triumph Street Triple S 660cc A2, has a lot better engine, with the promise of being derestrictable to 94 BHP once an A licence is achieved. Although the Street Triple is a lot harder to insure for newbies and drinks quite a bit more fuel. Your CB650R I believe can be restricted A2 restricted, much nicer engine than the CB500F,R,X , but pretty similar to the Triumph on difficulty to insure . I've asked about them all :)

I heard that CB500X are much more cheaper too maintain compare with the CB650R with is has more 2 pistons plus the sound of inline 4 with firering oder 360° vs the Parallel Twin firering oder 180°.

Hazizi Lamsin I have same situation. I like 650R for sound and emotions. And 500X for pillion and comfort capabilities. Hard choice...

Great Video, Dan. I agree, this is an excellent all round bike. Cheap to buy, cheap to run and a good fun bike. Didn't subscribe as I already have.

Can't argue with any of that! Thanks for the existing sub!

Hi thanks for nice review; i know that the 2019 is really improved & much better than my 2017. The only big con about my bike is the very short first gear. Does the 2019 have the same con ? To be honest even if i still love my bike, i really dream about a CB650X to have a little bit more power & a longer first gear.

Please check the youtube video of Chris Smith about the remplacement of the 15T front sprocket for a 16 T. It is the best improvement you can make on this bike. The 16 T sprocket costs 18 pounds. My only concern about this mod is the speedo will not give anymore the good datas. I read a special device can be plugged under the seat to correct it. Personnally on my 500X 2018 I would also like to change for lower and more foward footrests. The solution is on the facebook of "I am 500X " in Thailand. He developped special footrests which come at the reasonnable price of 2200 ThB(67 euros). Let me know after watching Chris Smith's video.

This is my second viewing of this video. It’s very good thanks. I haven’t got out much on my pre-loved 2019. The roads have been so wet and dirty. Not to be put off I am investing in a special detailer’s dryer. When I have been out around the lanes, I enjoy the transmission. The clutch and gears feel very intuitive, so it feels very easy to feel one with the bike, which makes it easier to get on with the business on watching what’s going on with the road....

I bought a 2015 500X in Sept 2018. I doubled the mileage on it in 12 months, then PX'd it for a 2019X a month ago. I've done 1200 miles on the new one. Yes, the wx in the UK has been awful! I agree with everything you say about the bike. Both my 500X's have been fantastic, but the 2019 is outstanding as far as I am concerned. It will be in Spain Jan/Feb 2020, and touring the Eu next season. Oh, one final comment HTF do I adjust the heat on the heated grips? I've not worked this out in a year!

I have no idea either, I had issues figuring out how to turn them off! 😂
@RedRiderHungary4 жыл бұрын
When you turn it on, it's on the max heat. Hold it for a second after it shows steady green light, now it will be flashing now 2 times, then keeps the steady green light again. It's the medium heat, for the lowest heat hold it again for a second, now it will flash once a while, then the steady green light comes back. I agree, it was a bit challenging to understand first how it works. 😂

Is it worth 2K more than a Himalayan? Yes Yes yes.
@asiaasia21574 жыл бұрын
Yes the answer is acceptable, but it could cost like an Himalyan.

Really good video,Dan! Nicely put together! Love the way you take your time to explain the bike, most others try to scream every detail in one minute and it annoyes me massively! Just stay the way you are, bro 👌

Thanks Roland, I actually find it difficult to slow down and pace myself at times but I found doing the tech specs as a voice over gives me more control of that. Glad you liked it, thanks for the comment!

With pleasure ofcourse! I’m a fan of the way you did that voice over with the specs 👌 Like a pro 😎

I tend to differ as to my opinion of the 19" front wheel. For me, I say why didn't they just put longer front forks on with more travel if they want to be serious about it? Wheel diameter really doesn't mean squat off-road. Wheel travel does. The bike could use another inch of underbelly clearance as it is. You say there's more off-road tire selection in a 19" wheel. I say there's plenty of selection as it is in a 17" wheel. Not so if you're looking for a street tire for a 19" wheel. Most of the selection for a street tire are total crap in that arena.
