@@kennymoore5586 I love mine overall. Just don't copy my brain fart trying to be Zorro by dismounting the bike WITHOUT first putting down the kickstand ( IF your leg inseam length isn't at least 34 inches or more AND you're well experienced in high spinning back kicks with your right leg xD). Otherwise, you'll kick the back of the bike with the back if your calf or heel and you'll both drop, bend the gear selector pedal arm, break an inch off of the clutch lever as well as screw up your left mirror assembly ( not broken, but won't tighten in correct alignment with the handlebar to be useful WITHOUT installing a very thin washer . xD Easy fixes though, but a $35 to $45.00 mistake. 70+ mpg so far ( I do 55 to 60 mph on the interstate daily work commute), I'm 215 worse case pounds fully geared with the backpack full of lunch, rainproof pants and jacket, and other road repair small items, and keep 41 psi in front tire and 45 psi in the rear. I haven't taken it offroad yet. Given the " feel" and minor vibration of the engine ( some would say it's low enough to call it character. - shrugs shoulders_) I'm considering replacing the front sprocket with one that is one tooth more ( I forgot if it's stock 14 or 15 tooth front sprocket) in order to get more mph from the same rpms...thus slightly better mileage at my preferred speeds. 1st gear, like my 2017 rebel 300 and probably similar to the rebel 500 , seems slightly shorter than it should be, but that's kind of a personal preference thing. Take that with grains of sugar and salt Notice every since I installed the T-rex brand 2013-2020 cb500x engine crash bar set that there is a more noticeable vibration at 39 to 40 mph in 6th gear than other rpm ranges. Maybe I need to reinstall it. ( shrugs) I don't remember it being there or even noticeable before installing them. I have not yet purchased any hand guards yet as I've seen all over the net other 2019 cb500x owners ( Sven and I forgot the others offhand) saying the BarkBusters varieties end up making contact with the stock windshield ( be it raised or in stock position from factory) when trying to do full turn/lock. There must be handguards that don't do that and/or a reasonable way to move the windshield's bottom or whole thing away from me enough. Sorry for the longwinded comment, but just providing some real world facts and feedback from my experiences with it . Cheers.

Just bought one of these - from Dobles - would recommend them - they gave me a great deal and great service. My last bike was an NC750 which I used every day for commuting. Have to say the CB500X is an absolute joy to ride compared to the NC. It's comfortable, light and easy to manoeuvre, and has all the power you need for an every day bike. Plus, it has an assist and slipper clutch, which makes changing gear on the daily commute an absolute doddle. Honda should sell large numbers of these - absolutely great bike.

This looks like a great choice. It's nearly impossible to go wrong with a Honda. This model is certainly one of my five top picks I'm considering. It's been an age since owning a motorcycle. I have had big and fast models. At my riper age, I am ready for something easy and chilled to get the job. Along with the simple pleasures of a nice ride. I did notice as on past CB500X model years, there isn't a bash plate. I have seen others complain about this. I am surprised Honda hasn't gotten the message on this as they did on the other changes they made for 2019. I hope an aftermarket bash plate kit is or will be available. I enjoy your channel. Keep it up. Cheers mate!

Had a spin on one of these today comfortable,light,good handling.. adequate brakes, engine ok bit breathless..all spoilt by a totally shite gearbox..was told by the salesman that it has gear assist??.. apparently something Honda added that it didn't need the previous model did without it..was told I need to revise my gear changing technique ffs!!..good old Honda make a good bike but can't resist fiddling and buggering it up.amazing that nobody who has reviewed this bike has mentioned it yet salesman said the last three people that took it out asked if the gearbox was faulty!

Had the same issue on my Africa Twin, zinging false neutrals between 4-5-6, and an occasional rattle-and-crunch kick out of gear on downshifts. First time I've ever worn boots out on the toe patch trying to make sure shifts were 1000% positive every single shift...talk about ruining casual rides in scenic places. Haven't had a false neutral issue on any of my previous bikes or either of two new (non honda) bikes since. I would definitely worry about the same issue a new CB500X, in fact I might already own one if I wasn't so scared to be fooled twice by new hondas.

Maybe the gearbox is faulty. You should try another one 👍

Thank you. This video was what I needed, looking into doing my A2 with Honda and getting one of these but was wondering about the fun factor. I like the look and practicality but but still want to be able to fling it into bends and have some fun. I don't need power to have fun, I have plenty of fun on my cg125 and throwing that into bends.

Hey Mr Fish, thanks a lot for your lengthy review. I had already been gazing at the CB500X when I started riding a year and a half ago but then since I live in Costa Rica I picked an XR250 Tornado from Honda that is essentially a carbureted CRF250L (with a bigger tank, higher seat and ground clearance and a few other differences). Now I need to part ways with Yuki (she's Japanese, white and what thy call a mountain bike in Spanish, so I called her "Snow" in Japanese) as I am going to move to the US and it won;t be legal up there. So of course I am on the market for a new mount, and not too fast a bike: I want to be able to stop on a whim to take pictures. I guess your superb review just made the decision for me.

Wish Triumph would do a 500/650 twin. I prefer that Bonneville engine. Nice review as always.

Love the review! Just one question: can you go long distances (transcontinental) on it mainly on dirt roads?
@Mrfish20155 жыл бұрын
depends how bad the roads are really , its mainly a road bike so would need a few upgrades

@@user-ck6kq8zl2i No i ended up getting a Bmw f650gs and totally love it 🏍 I would still like a Honda but i would maybe opt for a 700 transalp . But for now the Bmw is great...👍

Love this bike. Looks like a great bike for the money and the adventure bike most of us should consider. At half the price of the Africa twin it makes a compelling argument.

I like the way you give the bikes a good all round test. I am looking at either this bike or perhaps the dct nc750. What do you reckon ?

Great review. Certainly got me thinking more about this model. Only been riding for 6 months and I am about to do my DAS next month, as I now have the bike bug that everybody talks about.. Will probably retire the Forza 125 that I absolutely adore and move towards something that ticks all the boxes. Clearly this bike isn’t about top end but what is the max speed please? I’m a 44 year old bloke that isn’t looking for the thrills that speed can give, more the thrills from the freedom and convenience of an all rounder that will do the job required. Cheers.

Probably about 110 mph
@hildtonmcconnell56265 жыл бұрын
it is listed at 115 mph or 185 kph And I did see a video where it hit 115 mph & they said it would cruse all day at between 70-80 mph. That is quite a bit faster than the old 500 cc bikes.

Every other review says bigger guys needs to sit on it and it might be too small for anyone 6 feet up .. so let's find out what this big guy has to say ... what a surprise! It fits him perfectly. I think you sold me out on it. I was planning to start on CB300R as i love the look of it .. but i'm planning to do some touring and some highway speeds .. i was torn between the F and X CB500 ... thanks for clearing it for me. I'm pretty sure i would buy AfricaTwin after i watch your review on it so i'm not gonna do that as i don't have the money anyway 😆
