You don't have to but to get the best possible fuel/air ratio it might be something to think about. The downside is you'd also need a controller such as a Power Commander and then get is set up on a dyno, adding to the cost. I didn't bother with any of that and for the most part, it was ok. There is a natural flat spot at around 6k and this exhaust made that a little more pronounced.

@@syedali7285 As far as I have been told, adding a more free flowing exhaust leads to a reduction in back pressure. It is mainly the 4 cylinders vs the Yamaha's 2. A 2 cylinder engine has more torque in the low/mid range but comes more abruptly. The Honda has a 4 cylinder engine which deliver a much smoother and linear power delivery and besides, in my opinion, an unmistakable sound. After 7k rpm you better hold on because it will pull all the way up. As for build quality, well, Honda is Honda.

What was the problem with the first exhaust you bought? The original sounds great to me. I wouldn't want anything any louder. Still waiting for my bike. Next week, maybe.........Black, with tail tidy, almost immediately.

No problem really, just got the opportunity to review this one. Stock is too quiet for me. Can't hear the engine at all when riding unless you're really going for it.

What about the copper paste, what did you do with it? Just smear it on each of the connecting tube ends where you could?

Used it on header bolts, maybe not meant to. 😂

Great video! One question, how can a decat exhaust be "street legal"? Do you know if the sound is different between cat and decat akra's?
@Englishbikerdan
@Englishbikerdan 5 жыл бұрын
This is only legal if you buy the catalytic converter. However, it's E marked so if you get stopped at the roadside by the police that's probably all they will check. If you get stopped by VOSA, you won't be so lucky as they have exhaust probes.

@@Englishbikerdan Ok thanks you :) My problem is all about the sound check if I get arrested for a control.

It’s worth running any changes past your insurers, but they will probably say that’s ok and won’t make any difference to premiums. If you do have an accident and it has not been mentioned a mean third party insurer might take issue that a modification hasn’t been declared.

Akra is much better than BW in terms of quality of parts and sound, but it's pricey. Pick your weapon.

Hi Dan, I know this is an old video from a year ago but wanted to ask if you re-used the header gasket that was on or did you replace them with new ones?
@Englishbikerdan
@Englishbikerdan 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Bernie, I kept the stock gaskets as my bike was only a couple of weeks old at that point.👍

There was no way to move the rad forward on the R model... had to remove fairings, drain coolant and take bottom 2 hoses off the bottom of the rad to get in

You can without removing all that. Just need the right sockets and extensions :)
