I remember watching the review of last year’s Fit. It never ceases to amaze me how much stuff Honda can cram into a vehicle without over inflating the price tag
@_MrBread5 жыл бұрын
Because all of these things are cheaper than what car manufacturers really say. And other cars treat is as a “premium” upgrade, like a 7 inch screen could only really cost 120 as a part, but still inflate the price 3 times of what the original is. What i like about affordable manufacturers like toyota and honda is they still stay near that price range, that’s why they can keep the price of their cars relatively cheap and readily affordable.

I have a ‘10 Fit Sport and a ‘15 Fit EXL. There are still some annoyances that remain on the latest model year. Infotainment continues to be subpar. I’ve been considering a speaker upgrade to try an improve the poor audio quality. Satellite radio continues to be available only with the highest trim including Nav. No audio aux in port on my 2015, as its only available on the lowest trim. Car Play has finally arrived in 2018. The climate control is weak, and the AC not the best in hot weather. Having said all that, the fuel economy exceeds the rated numbers, especially with the CVT, and it’s quite efficient. Storage is phenomenal. From the driver’s seat there’s lots of room to breathe. The highest trim is a bit pricey, especially with the adding of more safety features. Thanks for the detailed review.

It always bugs me when the dealership leaves the fuel tank completely empty prior to releasing the vehicle for a review. You'd think they'd would throw some gas in there considering the engine is usually running during a review 🥴

We had a 2011 Fit Sport. Was a very nice value and never had any problems (other than the blower motor resistor going out). It was a great car. We ended up selling it and buying a used 2013 Mazda 3 hatch with 6 speed manual.The Mazda has way more features, but it will never beat the Fit's versatility. I wish Honda would add a larger engine option, that 1.5 does not provide enough power.

With 1.5 liter 130 horse engine, CV transmission, and car weighing about 1220 kg, I had no problem merging onto limited access highways without forcing other vehicles to slow down or move to the left, and I had no problem passing vehicles on 2-lane highways. Seems like the car took only about 3 or 4 seconds to go from 100 kph to 140 kph. on level road. Courteous drivers who moved left or slowed down to let me in on limited access highways, often found that their move was unnecessary. This CVT is great fun to accelerate with. You put the throttle pedal to the floor, and the engine speed rapidly increases to almost red-line, 6700 rpm, and they stays put at that rpm, does not budge from that rpm, while the car's wheels go faster and faster and faster Then when the vehicle reaches the speed you want, you hit the cruise control button, take your foot off the throttle pedal, and the engine rpm almost instantly drops to the lowest value that will support the speed you chose. Say 70 mph. On a level surface the rpm turns out to be about 2200 rpm. Go up a mild incline and the rpm eases up to about 2800. If you had the the manual transmission and the transmission in 6th gear, the engine rpm would be more like 3800 to 4500 rpm.

Hi, I tested one of these which was advertised from a dealer but although i liked it even with the CVT i didn’t like the way it steered like as though the castor is set too much as it wants to centre itself back too quickly into the straight ahead position and although it handles well this feeling spoils it If you know what i mean.? I wonder if the 1.3 model with the standard tyres feels better or is there a tweak to fix the sport out there to make it feel better in this dept?
@soilmanted6 жыл бұрын
The car is relatively practical, for a modern car with space-wasting air bag technology, and that is why I own one. Air bags in the A-pillars intrude upon your view and make you more likely to have a collision. Practical, yes, but I would consider it to be a "bad-looking" car. The second generation model was better-looking. The crease on the side of the car is over-dramatic, and the rear of the car is, well, butt-ugly. Butt-ugly though it is, it is very accomodating if you want to shove things into the car, through the rear. It has a low lift-height when you want to get things into the hatch opeining. Weirdly, thermostatic HVAC control is available in Fits-Jazzes shipped to India, Canada, and some other places, but you can't get thermostatic HVAC control in the US in any model. Yes, there is lots of room for rear passengers, but the driver and front passenger have their leg and foot-room intruded upon by the gas tank. Unless the front seat is pushed fairly far forward, the hump from the gas tank extends ahead of the seat, so you can't comfortably rest either of your feet flat on the floor while you are using cruise control. The car handles pretty well for a car in its price range, and handles significantly better if you get better tires.

I found the AC to be inadequate. If the outside temp is 90 deg F or more it takes 12-15 miles of driving with the fan on max speed and air recirculation on, before the interior cools down to about 75. Open a door, and the cabin warms up 10 degrees almost instantly. You have to drive another 5 miles before its is 75 again. Stop at a traffic light and the air coming out of the vents gets warmer. In 2 minutes the car is 80 degrees.The large expanse of black plastic under the windshield gets painfully hot and heats up the air in the cabin. I suspect that dash mat and a cargo area cover might help things. Increased thermal insulation in the door panels might help things.

I couldn't tell if there is a camera mounted by the rear view mirror. If so, then likely it does. I believe a camera is used for pedestrian detection and a radar(usually found in front on the grill) takes care of the autonomous braking for vehicles. I think.
