I just bought one of these to use as a daily driver and I must say that I’m impressed with all the amenities they include with it. I have the EX model. I must say that it does feel underpowered when it comes to highway performance, but it does well at city driving. I average a total of 31MPG combined.

Typo on the engine displacement at 2:20 - should be 1.8L instead of 1.4L. Sad to see the MT go, I have a 2012 Fit Sport MT and would have considered a 2019 HRV MT as its replacement. The facelift looks good. I'd be fine with a CVT if it didn't try to imitate stepped gear shifts.

+1 on fake shift points. Just give me the 100% utility of a CVT.

@@GIGABACHI Let's be real. No one likes the sound of a constantly redlining engine. At low RPMs it actually holds it, so you have 100% efficiency at normal usage, and at performance usage there are 7 simulated gears, so you have around 93% efficiency but without a constantly annoying sound plus the engine will last longer.
@GIGABACHI5 жыл бұрын
@@FlameHazeist I don't know what CVT equipped cars you have been riding but they don't work at redline as you mentioned unless you want them to, that is.🙄

@@GIGABACHI The 2016 HRV doesn't have fake shift points therefore when you WOT it you get an annoying constant redline. 2017 and later models have fake shift points which are much less annoying to listen to at full throttle. At low throttle for every year, there aren't any simulated shift points AFAIK. My mom's 2019 HRV holds a constant rpm at low throttle.

Thank you for showing the cargo area with the seats down! I had the 2015 Fit and it had huge cargo capacity for the size. The down side, and it was minor, was that the gas tank was under the front seats and kind of small. Also, the ride was quite crashy. But to me, it didn't seem at all under powered.

Quick note Alex, the suspension for the AWD models have moved from a torsion beam rear axle to a solid DeDion axle, which may affect handling in that you no longer have the "semi-independent" flex between the axles of the two rear wheels. Also the engine is 1.8L not 1.4L.
@ryanlittleton56156 жыл бұрын
Honestly even though I'm more of a Honda guy, the only car in this class I could justify buying is the Subaru Crosstrek. Maybe the new Hyundai Kona. It's not that the HR-V is a bad car per say, I personally just don't see the point in buying the HR-V. I'd rather buy a Honda Fit. But that's just my personal opinion.

I had to sell my HR-V due to the very strong toxic smell from the leather, plastics and adhesives. It just would not go away. Mexican build quality was also lacking. Granted, I had an early production model, it still was not up to Honda standards or at least what I experienced from the 15+ Hondas owned over a lifetime. Same can be said with the Mexican build Fits vs the Japanese Fits. I hope Honda has addressed quality at this factory since then. As a Honda enthusiast, it is a shame there may be first time Honda buyers out there who had a similar experiences and left the brand.

There seems to be a big push for active safety features, while some of the more passive, and relatively inexpensive ones, continue to be reserved for more premium vehicles and trims. LED/HID headlamps. LED DRL, turn signal, tail and brake lamps, and better visibility overall should be much more common than they’ve bern up to now. HRV, for example, can finally be had with LED headlamps and tail lamps, but the turn signals are still last century technology. Being able to see, and be seen, should be a requirement on all new vehicles. Putting aftermarket lighting solutions on today’s vehicles can be quite problematic. My 2015 Honda Fit is a great car, but still suffers from outdated lighting technology. Thanks for the review Alex. $28K for the top trim HRV is a bit much imo, but the CRV is simply too large for me. Looking forward to my next vehicle, which must include AWD and stellar lighting options. Of course my Fit is only 3 years and 20K miles old 😀

Im in the camp of not enough power. Yes, its fine for driving around town but as soon as you hit the highway or freeway youll wish you had something else. Something with more well more...lol. Floor it to pass or merg onto the interstate, all you get is A LOT of engine/CVT whine without much happening. I believe either the 2.0 or 1.5T would be a better match. Offer the 2.0 standard in base and sport then the 1.5T in EX EX-L and touring. They could even offer the 1.5T as an optional choice in sport as well. Regardless of what they do or dont, I know I wont buy one unless they improve the powertrain options. I test drove an 18, its just to slow IMO.
