Edit: The tailgate DOES LOCK; it has to be turned on via a setting in the infotainment center. Thanks for watching, and hope this video helped you out. If you think I missed anything, or if you have any personal experience with Ridgelines, share them in the comments! Thx bye ❤️

Awesome video and great information! Very well put together and gets across all the important things to know if anyone is looking for one of these. Also, i hope you made it out of the sealed bed compartment after the video ended 😬

You're wrong about the ECON button. ECON mode has nothing to do with VCM. VCM is handled by the ECU, and disabling ECON mode will NOT disable VCM. To disable VCM, you must use a third-party device to fool the ECU about the engine temperature. When enabled, ECON mode adjusts the AC to use less energy, and the mid-range throttle response is limited to reduce fuel consumption.
@NotSoHandyCarGuy26 күн бұрын
Sorry, I didn’t mean to make it seem like turning off ECON disables the VCM entirely… And I don’t think I actually said that. In order to completely disable the VCM, you do need a tuner to do that, just like any other manufacturers’ “VCM”. But being in ECON mode DOES inherently mean that you’ll be using cylinder deactivation more frequently, increasing the potential for those oil consumption and VCM issues.

Recently got a ridgeline. I disagree about the rear seats. Can fit three child seats in the back. I am not a fan of the stadium style seating either, mainly because my toddler can kick my headrest. Otherwise it is class leading in the midsize truck market.
@winchesterp0519 күн бұрын
Most of my passengers in the back seat… LOVE… the “stadium seating” that the Honda Ridgeline provides. Also, the drivers side seat is programmed to move back when the key is turned off to ease the driver in access\egress. So… unless the key is left on, rear seating knee space isn’t going to be a true measurement.
@NotSoHandyCarGuy19 күн бұрын
Fair enough, to each their own! However, like I said in the video, I did have the front seat in my normal driving position (key still on).

I have a 2022 I’ve found doing zero-60 in sport and sand mode but mostly sand mode will get you to sixty faster. Give it a try. The rpm rises quickly and puts you in the vtec faster. But seriously try it, I don’t see any body talk about it.

I have a 2022 Ridgeline that is paid off. I really like the look of the new Tacoma but, $50 k for a TRD off road trim? Absolutely insane. And the reliability on the Toyota is still unknown. Will hang on to my "fake truck" for now.
@davidgonzalez35623 күн бұрын
Fake? The Ridgeline V6 N/A is the best mid-size truck engine in the entire market. Plus the most comfortable and reliable one. Not perfect as the rest of trucks.

It's pretty funny how one reviewer loves how the back seats sit up a bit higher and how another reviewer says how they don't like how the back seats sit up..... it's all based upon what your individual preferences are.....

2019 at 55,000 miles, has transmission shutter issues. Do yourself a favor, deactivate vcm before it creates problems.
@lorimcquinn396622 күн бұрын
That seems like a ongoing issue. That said, seems like the warranty if left is going to be voided if VCM is deactivated.
@dannysparks69810 күн бұрын
I have a 2019 with around the same mileage and the fix for the shudder in those 6 speeds is to change the transmission fluid, usually every 25-30K miles. YMMV.

why are you comparing it to an F150 which is a full size truck .. ridgeline is mid size..
@NotSoHandyCarGuy13 күн бұрын
I thought someone might ask that. Because the F150 is the best selling truck in the U.S., and it’s one that a lot of people are acquainted with. More of an overall reference point, rather than a comparison.
@IndianMC-jf3cp6 күн бұрын
Why do you keep comparing a Ridgeline to a F150? Two COMPLETELY different trucks for different duties.
@NotSoHandyCarGuy6 күн бұрын
Yeah I understand that. I used an F-150 because it’s the best selling truck in the US, and it’s a truck that a lot of people are familiar with. So the idea was to use it like a unit of measurement. But clearly I didn’t convey that properly, and in reality, it’s not that useful of a measurement.

The WHAT?? Haha
@FightFightFight454729 күн бұрын
@ a lot of water leaks into the rear of the cab. Honda has had the issue for maybe 10 years or more. The factory doesn’t seem to care about the application of sealant on seams. I see it as a problem when the truck idea was an afterthought. If Honda would have designed the Ridgeline from scratch, then the rear of the cab would probably have fewer seams.
@NotSoHandyCarGuy29 күн бұрын
Oh man, that’s not good! Yeah I suppose that would be more likely to happen when they adapted it from SUV to truck. I’ll have to look into that issue.
@FightFightFight454729 күн бұрын
@ you’re correct, the truck is an afterthought “truck”, but it doesn’t occur in all of them. It’s random throughout the years, including up to 2025. Most dealers play dumb like they have never heard of it. It’s a big job to rip the interior out, plus take apart the bed sections to access the back wall off the cab. I’m hoping that the next generation, gen 3, will put this issue to bed once and for all. Go to the Ridgeline forum and search for water leaks. Take care, and best of luck with your channel.
