Linkage bolts and bearings are heavy. Plus the longer shock and linkage itself. Next time you service the linkage you could weigh the shock, bolts etc and also weigh the pds shock and bearing. It would make an interesting vid. Nice work!

Why not weigh them all with no fuel, or all with 1 gallon? Different tank sizes makes for an unfair comparison.
@jethroshaw46425 жыл бұрын
It should be considered that the husky tank is slightly bigger So factoring fuel capacity +2lbs and then linkage +5lbs, and other parts, subframe etc. Maybe 3lbs Just my reasoning in the matter
@thegan91435 жыл бұрын
Weight of 11lbs isn't going to make a difference to anyone, you can let it play in your head as an important number if your want. Not like the bike is riding you and if it is you're not doing it right. The bike might feel different but it won't be the weight that you are feeling.
@MXJEFF945 жыл бұрын
Makes a difference to me. I would like to shave as much weight as possible. Sure I could skip the all you can eat buffets, but thats too hard. lol
@thegan91435 жыл бұрын
@@MXJEFF94 Unless you have to carry the bike I would doubt you will feel a weigh difference. 11lbs isn't going to make it harder to maneuver, climb, jump or stop. Chassis and suspension will be the only thing anyone would feel. My 2 cents anyway.

I saw a video where they weighed a tc250 and a sx250. The sx was only one pound lighter so i assume thats due to the composite subframe on the Husky. I think a tx300 and a xc300 would only be about a pound or two apart. The bearings in the linkage weigh like 3lbs alone..
@stone48585 жыл бұрын
Can it be that they are little bit heavier because the Husky come all equipped as the KTM Six Days ? Because the KTM Six Days do have just a bit more stuff to them like fork pre load ecc.... Maybe it would be a good idea to compare the Husky TE300i, to a KTM TPI 300 Six Days.

Cheers mate. Thought I was going crazy every time I had to pick up bike after crash or laying down. Felt like I was so week after years of riding ktm. I think it's also rear shock is longer and sit alot higher than ktm which also makes it feel even heavier when manoeuvring. Think I'm going back to KTM. Fed up with mikuni carburetor problems, only getting 60km to a tank. Old ktm used to get 100+ easy depending on riding conditions. They should have stuck with brembo and keihin. Migura and mikuni suck. Cheap old stock. Spent somuch and now think now going back to Orange. Avagud1

Lets talk about how you like the Kreft Moto compared to some of the other off-road revalves you have had. Kreft suspension is $1500-$1700. To get a full revalve for off-road with a WP bladder kit (heavier spring as well) in the rear is $700-$800. So its it worth $1,000 more Kyle?

Because of all the technology add-ons. Dirt bike advancement has basically peaked, so the next level is to add more complex and expensive gadgets. Back in 2014. KTM/Husky advertising on the web stated that " Husqvarna is the next step up from KTM." Interpret it how you want to.......

Te300 is more comparable to a 300 exc, not the xc-w which is a little more stripped down and not street legal as far as I know. We only gwt the te and exc lines in Europe, besides the full mx bikes. But the main diff are the linkage and the subframe.

Linkage is a far better system. It's why pretty much every bike has it now. PDS is more harsh, harder to dial in etc. With linkage it may be heavier but that weight is at the absolute lowest point of the bike, actually increasing stability in turns. The only reason you would want PDS is if your riding style causes you to constantly bash the linkage. But I've Only seen 1 account of that.
@robh32675 жыл бұрын
sounds like you have never ridden a newer PDS bike

@@robh3267 I rode an 18 250XC-W. You'll have to tell me if that counts. When I did ride it I experienced exactly what I described. I rode over plenty of logs on it and my TE250, and didnt notice any hang ups on the linkage bike.
@petergrabsch37365 жыл бұрын
not true! the biggest problem is pds doesn't work well if not setup for rider weight. pds when setup is better in many ways as it's simple (minimal maintenance), lighter, easy to r&r for overhaul & actually hang up on logs is a big issue in enduro. Linkage is however better on big jumps i.e. motocross.

i think bikes should be weighed full of coolant and oil but full of fuel. I fill up my tank and it last me 2 or 3 rides. Its unfair to compare a motox bike that has like 6L of fuel to a trail bike with 12L of fuel... If I'm going out for 2hour ride I dont need 12 L of fuel.
@golferchin764 жыл бұрын
7-10lbs heavier still rides a ton better than the KTM tho. That's Husky magic. And when you factor total weight (rider+bike+fluid), that 7-10lbs became nothing.

You will notice I make comments on the bloated weight of dirt bikes. Here is exactly why. That 10 pounds. Lets find a nice 45 degree hill to climb. Lets go at the speeds needed to do it right, 60 mph. Guess what? That 10 pounds at 60 mph up that 45 degree hill requires. 1.6 horsepower. I chose 45 degrees because it is the least steep part of the Widowmaker Hill Climb. That is in your backyard Kyle. The trouble is that the short motos are all that the bikes are designed to do. Short bursts of power. The real fast dirt riding is ignored.

Ten pounds means nothing and this is a useless video. I just bought the Husky because I wanted linkage rear suspension AND lighting. WIth the KTM's, the XCW has lights but PDS. The XC has linkage but no lighting (and not even pre-wired to accept lighting). I love KTM's too but the Husky is the perfect enduro bike (IMO)
@pjbeck4545 жыл бұрын
Are you sure? That’s why a lot of people, including myself get the XC/TX for a faster and better gearing bike with linkage. Then just go buy lights. But I have a TX so maybe that’s why I can just plug lights in. Also last time I check the wiring harness was the same between a XC & TX. You can even find a lot builds by rocky mt or dirt bike mag that have done the same thing
