Just bought one in Summit Gray (6 M/T) a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it! It's such a fun car to drive and the cornering is surprisingly sticky. The car just wants to be driven hard. I'm always looking for more reasons to get up and drive it. Definitely satisfied with my buy!

I know this great review is from a number of years ago, but we just picked up this exact car and color yesterday for my wife. Drove 3.5 hours to get it and had to pay a premium (isn't that weird? premium price used to be for automatic transmissions!) because it's still a 6-spd. She drove it another 5 hours afterwards on a road trip and loved it. It replaces her 2013 Elantra GT which was a great little car, just waaaay underpowered, which had 207,000 miles on it and was still going strong. Hope this one gets there too.

I have a 2018 Elantra GT Sport 7 Speed DCT. It’s almost pushing 40,000 miles now (yeah i drive a 💩 ton) . The GT Sport still puts a huge smile on my face whenever i drive it. Such an underrated car. I live in Los Angeles which is home to about 4-5 million people and to this day i’ve only seen about 7 GT Sports on the road (i’ve seen more non Sport models). People are really missing out on this Hatchback.

Um, the nline also has stiff springs that make it rough too. Seems like hyundai are moving away from "luxury" (that's what Genesis is for anyway) to performance and sporty.

On the top left corner of the gauge cluster screen, it constantly keeps recommending a gear to shift into. Which, I assume, is for optimal fuel economy. Interesting on the sport version of a hatch. I guess it's just nice to know when ya wanna know? 🤷♂️

Wish it had the "enhanced" sound of the Veloster. The R Spec Veloster has a great sound. Also has the overboost function but seems like this is tuned a bit softer. Also would be nice if they gave this the b and m short shifter from the R spec.

This is a decent car but seems pretty rare on dealer lots. It’s also close in price to the Civic Si which is a bit more dynamic, comes with an LSD, sunroof and better fuel economy. Hyundai really should have offered the tech package for the manual version of this which would have increased the value proposition, but it seems like they think enthusiasts don’t need the sunroof or other nice things that come with it.

This is an under the radar performance bargain in the segment. I went with a GTI as my family situation required an automatic. If manual were an option this is what I would have bought. Sport car snobs will look down their nose at it, but as a daily option at a good price the GT N-Line should be on the “dad wants a fun car” shopping list.

I have the 2016 gt and love it but my biggest pet peeve is what I don’t understand stand why they add this is the shift notification if your beyond 2k rpm,it’s a Manual and it’s a GT why are you adding in notifications telling when to shift !! I wish I knew how to turn that off ,I don’t need or like a car telling me when to shift I can see that being useful in an automatic car but not a manual

I drove volskwagen polo and I had Elantra in the past. So I have to say German car is significantly better. even though polo is in the segment lower. It is solid on the road, handles confidently.

Do you ever notice weird stuff on newer manuals due to drive by wire systems and more safety features? I have heard in some newer manuals you can't heel toe downshift because if you brake and gas at same time it cuts engine power thinking you are panicking trying to break...

Not really, that’s only an issue when you’re on the throttle and brake for more than a split second. There isn’t as much feel and pedal feedback with newer cars, but the dynamics are still the same

Interesting that as standard (not optional) they put those Michelin high level performance tires with this being a non full blown performance car like the Veloster N is. Idk if the average buyer would be happy with the lower tread life and increased road noise. And for buyers in northern climates they'd have to get another set of tires or wheels.

May not be full performance like the N is, but the nline isn't really aimed towards the masses, it sort of seems more amid at people who like to mod their cars, but not tracking it really. The tucson is the only nline that seems to be for the masses. Ruins the whole "baby N" dynamic if you ask me

In what ways is this similar, if any to your brz and what's different, in regards to the driving aspect? Similar engine numbers don't tell the whole story and both can be rev'd out and stay out of trouble. Does the n-line have potential to be more than a quick-ish commuter and is it tweakable/tunable?

There isn’t much aftermarket for Hyundai yet, however they’re coming out with some N performance parts soon. This and the brz are completely different in every way, except for price. If you want something quick and practical the Veloster n is your friend. Fun to drive, brz, a warm hatch, this Elantra is a good option.

I would recommend the elantra gt. It has much more space inside. The back seat and trunk are much larger than the corolla. And you get android auto and turbo, which you can't get on the corolla.

I tried getting a manual transmission N Line and ended up getting the automatic instead which is a little faster than the manual transmission I am happy with my automatic it shifts gears so quickly and has extra gears.

It may shift slightly quicker, but you can’t “skip” gears. In my manual, I can go straight from 5th to 3rd on the highway for quick acceleration. I wouldn’t sacrifice the fun of shifting myself to be slightly quicker, but I’m glad you’re enjoying your car.

yo this is my dillema right now!!! A friend is selling his 17' Mazda 3 Grand Tour...and I'm talking to dealers about the NLine, currently got an OTD of $23,267. Just waiting to pull the trigger.
