I don't get the complaints about looks. This thing looks great in person. If you swapped the badge and the grill I would think it's a new BMW. I just wish it had a bit more power or better fuel economy.

I know styling is subjective but the more I look at this, the more I like the styling. I think it's probably one of the best styled compact SUV's in the class. Will see what the RAV4 looks like in a few weeks. I saw it in April but will have more time with it in November.

Too bad you folks dont get the impressive 2.2 Turbo diesel we get as an option. 200hp and 320lb-ft of torque. And I know this is minor, but that pattern on the speaker grill, we also get it as a stitched pattern on the upper section of the seats just below the headrests. Looks awesome.

Got this last month and my wife is really happy with the car. The lane keep assist lasts a very long time on highways. Very large trunk as it designed to be the 3rd-row capable vehicle.

I have experience using Japanese SUV, such as Fortuner, Pajero Sport, Xtrail, CRV. but I have never been satisfied. great when I ventured to buy hyundai santafe which is a brand that is not very popular here. I decided to try wearing the Hyundai Santafe. and the result, I am very satisfied. This SUV is much more comfortable than Japanese SUV I have ever used. the suspension is just right. but I still like xtrail. only xtrail can comfortably take my heart.

Good video. You mentioned you own a Highlander. How do you rate the current Santa Fe vs the Highlander? Obviously the Highlander had the V6 and somewhat bigger cargo. No Apple Carplay and Android Auto. But besides that, would like to know how you compare the way they both feel and drive? The reason is one could get a slightly used 2018 or 2019 Highlander for about the same price as the Santa Fe new. They both seem to target a similar buyer.

We drove the 2019 Santa Fe Ultimate and the 2019 Sorento SXL and have to say that the Kia is in a different league. The Santa Fe feels like an unfinished product. The transmission was slow and the turbo is laggy. Had my foot floored everytime I had to get out of an intersection! Also the dashboard design is so busy and not clean and classy.

My Jeep stalls when you put it in reverse I’m taking it in this week to get fixed, the shifting isn’t smooth, my bluetooth and nav shit the bed I had to have it fixed. I’ve had the windshield replaced 3 times because a little pebble hits and it’s game over. My Jeep suspension must be shot too...if I hit a bump or pothole it has the infamous “Jeep death wobble” Lol sorry for the rant, I’m just letting you know what I’ve been dealing with. The price tag for Jeep is WAY too expensive to deal with things like that and id hate to see people waste their money.

I totaled my car and broke my foot. Won't be test driving for a while, but I am still gauging my prospects. My totaled car was a 2007 Santa Fe. Had no plans of upgrading or changing, had it not been for the accident, I was gonna keep it until it was just beyond repair. Had well over 100,000+ miles on it. At any rate, would you mind elaborating on you Jeep Wrangler? In '07, I thought I wanted a Jeep Patriot or a Jeep Commander vs Tucson or a Sana Fe. I test drove them all and settled on the Santa Fe. Now I'm back to ruling out options of course. Is it the Wrangler's gas mileage/handling?

private private it’s just not performing well. I take care of it inside and out. It stalls when put in reverse. The gas mileage is bad, but I knew that. It doesn’t want to shift properly. My Bluetooth had to be fixed/replaced. The heat had to be fixed because it only blew out cold air. Now, I get cars have issues but it’s a 2016 Sahara unlimited with 40,000 miles on it I bought brand new...these things shouldn’t happen? I never had an issue with my other vehicles...other than basic maintenance.

Its a great looking suv, but my only complaint would be the mpg & it having turbo. I know you can opt out of turbo but that mpg tho... Tucson is the same thing low mpg.

It's a "big vehicle" compared to the RAV4, CRV and Rogue b/c the Tucson is those vehicles' competition; the Santa Fe (5 seater) competes w/ the Edge, Murano, and other 5 seat Mid-size C/SUVs. I think there is a 5+2 Santa Fe, but I've mostly heard about it in the European markets. Hopefully, Huydnai realeses the new Pallisade? They need a real 7 seater C/UV

I was very interested in this vehicle. Think it looks great and is loaded with great features. My wife needs a new car. But I’ve seen a couple of news reports about Hyundai engines bursting into flames. And there’s building pressure for Kia and Hyundai to recall three million vehicles. That puts a big damper on my enthusiasm for this new Santa Fe. I guess I will wait on the new RAV4 before making any purchases.

I have the infinity system in my ultimate and it sounds incredible! Make sure to turn on the “Quantum Surround” for the best sound. Seriously blown away by how good it sounds. It’s also very powerful - only have to have it turned up to like 5 all the time lol and she still bumps.

The Sante Fe in this review is what was once considered the Sport model (no third row) in the prior generation. It sits between the CRV and the Passport in size. Santa Fe XL for 2019 will be the Passport-sized competitor. Honda will unveil a new SUV (two rows) in Los Angeles next week to compete more directly with the Sante Fe in this review.

@@anthonycbrown1952 In my 2007 Santa Fe Limited model the third row seat was optional, but the SIZE of the Santa Fe w/wo the third row was the same. This is where I get confused. I understand the whole Third Row Seat thing...but is the Third Row the ONLY feature that diffrentiates the Santa Fe from the Santa Fe XL? Cuz in earlier models, the Santa Fe Sport was also a "'shorter'/smaller" vehicle than the Santa Fe (and wasn't the third row Santa Fe called the "Limited"?" ) But now today's 2019 Santa Fe ( formerly Sport) goes all the way to Santa Fe Ultimate...but I can't tell if there is a Santa Fe XL "Ultimate".... So I guess my questions are: 1)Is the 2019 Santa Fe XL "longer and larger" than the 2019 Santa Fe (formerly Sport). ALSO 2)are the differing models of the 2019 Santa Fe (formerly Sport) mirrored in the 2019 Santa Fe XL (eg. base model, limited, 2.0T, Ultimate...)? AND 3)is there anything OTHER THAN the Third Row of the 2019 Santa Fe XL that makes it better/more "luxurious" than the 2019 Santa Fe (formerly Sport) models? I go to the hyundai websites, but I can't really iron out these idiosyncrasies and if I in the future settle on Santa Fe, I don't trust the dealer to give me info beyond what he thinks he needs to tell me to make a sell. @@privateprivate5302 The Sante Fe Sport was a two row one a shorter chassis. The Sante Fe was a three row on a longer chassis. For 2019, Hyundai follows the same two configurations (Sante Fe - 2 row short chassis, Sante Fe XL 3 row longer chassis). The old naming scheme made things a little confusing. In 2019 Genesis (their luxury brand) will get a Palisades SUV off the Sante Fe XL chassis. Hope the Palisades gets the 3.3 twin turbo and top line trim appointments

My mom has the Equus, I know they don't really make it anymore, but I consider that a beast...and truthfully, it's technology is a little annoyingly overwhelming, but still, it'd be neat to decide between a Luxury SUV vs the Santa Fe. So Jeep decided the former headlight design on the Cherokee looked awful which all customers complained about and so they tossed it out. It's like Hyundai was passing by and found it in the trash then claimed it. The previous was sleeker this look makes the front very bulky. Anyway I already chose the new CX5 over this! At least it makes up for it on the inside!

I test drove the top end model and here are my takeaways. 1) the car looks better in the video than in person 2) the interior is full of hard plastics not found in other competitors 3) the seats are pleather and if not, they feel like pleather. 4) The headrest is cushy pillow soft and that felt really cheap. 5) driving the turbo engine felt like and sounded like a go cart I raced as a kid...not good at all...lunges slowly off the line and gears don’t shift quickly. Otherwise, don’t believe the reviews. I had high hopes for this car based on many video reviews, though within two minutes of my test drive I wanted to turn around. KIA is the better of the two Korean manufacturers. Driving the KIA Sorento SXL was night and day better than the Hyundai. We knew several people who’d raved about their KIA Sorento’s and they were right. It’s a near luxury SUV with simple to learn info infotainment system and switch gears. Hopefully they keep them simple and...well, test drive each of the top end models and then make your own judgment.

Ricky Holmes Did you touch the top of the dash? If so, you’d know it was hard plastic. I wasn’t comparing the Santa Fe to any of the models you’d detailed above, because I haven’t test driven nor seen those interiors. I was talking about the Sorento, Sportage, Mazda CX-5. From what I’ve seen and heard directly face-to-face from my local Toyota dealership manager, the RAV4 interior will be very nice. It will be the interior and platform standard for all Toyota’s moving forward.

I bet you did not drive 2.0T, which is pretty good for this size and weight. And seats are not pleather. It's a real thing. I have them in Kia too. They are very good actually. You can get similar ones in luxury cars as very expensive upgrades.
