Hopped into one today and this updated Santa Fe is in an upper league compared with the 2018 model. Packed with technology and features for a price that under cuts the competition for thousands less. Hyundai has become a formidable and highly competent player in several automotive segments. It's garnering awards and accolades in reliability, warranty and customer satisfaction. Worth considering before spending thousands more in a under-speced/over-priced German or Japanese luxury crossover.

I like how the video showed a number of colors the SUV comes in. I think when listing features it would be good to mention which trims have keyless entry and keyless start. Nicxe jacket btw.

It's interesting how Hyundai chooses to package vehicles differently between the US and Canada, here in the States we get 5 trim levels all available with only base 2.4 l engine with the top 2 getting the option for the 2 l, plus all trims can be had in either FWD or AWD.

There are so many differences between Santa Fe models in Australia vs North America. Some of which in Australia: no FWD model, only the base model uses gasoline (2.4L with 6 speed auto) the rest are 2.2L turbo diesel with the 8 speed, all models are 7 seats, all models include all the safety features

A good car/suv for our market. I expect it to be a great seller - here in Canada. If the public could end up accepting that new-ish Jeep Cherokee design... then they will love this new Santa Fe. Thanks for the review - very well covered.

Nice review. We rented the outgoing 2018 model when we went on our trip to Alberta and BC. A really nice vehicle overall especially with all the features, but agreed on the headlights part. The default halogen headlights on the old model were pretty terrible, especially on one night when we were driving through Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Banff and couldn't see very far in front of us. A missed opportunity here to give better LED lights as standard here. The one other issue we had was the fuel economy and gauge accuracy with the 2.4L engine. Hopefully that's fixed here, because on a few occasions, a half tank used cost anywhere from $10-30 to fill, which should never happen at the same gas price. This wasn't also an isolated case because it happened in two unique models we rented per province (one in BC, and another Alberta).

Having LEDs on only the top trim is an automatic deal breaker. My current car has halogens and I can't see anything at night, might as well just drive without them on. Wouldn't make a difference. LED headlights should be standard on all trims (see Toyota Corolla) because it really is a safety feature.

Having LED headlights mean nothing. Go to iihs to check the performance. The SF LED headlights scored excellent. The night illumination is far and wide and very bright. I like it. Also, all 4 headlights are ON even on low beam. Including the fog lights and the DRL LED pipe, there are total of 4x2 light source, awesome!

Zack,When this car was initially revealed by Hyundai, they said a 2.2L diesel was going to be available in early 2019. Did any of the Hyundai reps mention what the status of that engine is? Has it passed all the EPA testing requirements, etc.? Both this and the CX5 would be great with diesels, but the Mazda is now a year behind schedule in arriving, and I wonder if it will ever get here. Any word on either one of these diesel options?Great review!

No third row so they can sell you the larger, more expensive (upcoming) model. Headed in the same direction as every other manufacturer. Nissan killed off the third row in the Rogue. Toyota removed the third row from the Rav4 years ago. I like the third row option in the compact class for 'in a pinch' situations. Looks like the only options left are the Mitsubishi Outlander, VW Tiguan, or maybe Dodge Journey.

It's just interesting that both Hyundai and Chevy are making their new crossovers have that split light design in the front, like the Jeep Cherokee had from 2014-18; Jeep did away with that for 2019, but yet all these new Hyundai & Chevy crossovers are adopting Jeep's old look lol

Car reviews ALWAYS show the "top of the line" which I'm never interested in. Seems like the dealers follow suit and only offer the top of the line on their lots. You want a lower end model you have to order in. Facing this with the Mazda MX-5, the ones available are always decked out and the dealers ask way above MSLP.
