Fantastic review. Really appreciate the content from CarAdvice. I drive a 2015 Active X and you really notice the lack of power especially during the times when you're loaded up with 3 other large blokes and some luggage.. If I every buy another Tucson I will make sure I get the Turbo Diesel engine.

it's very disappointing that overseas UK model has 360 / surround view camera but not for Aus model

I just bought one, the highlander 1.6 turbo petrol, I reckon there's 2 things missing, 360 camera and memory seat and the car is verrrry thirsty, other than that it's a brilliant fun car... When the family is in, I switch to eco mode, so the accelerator hard up so I drive slower and when there's no one in the car... Sport mode, everything is back to life

Would you want the diesel around town? what about the "freeway driving" to clear the particle filter, some people would just use it as a suburban runabout.

Whats the thoughts on the diesel? I like the sound of it in the review, but I'm scared of the partical filter block up (I've been told about) if you don't travel enough distance each trip?

That applies to every diesel. If you only do short runs with your car, dont buy a diesel they need the long runs to keep the system clear

That will be some nice competition, but you probably can't go wrong getting any of them. If Mazda adds the turbo to the CX-5, I may have to go with that.

To be fair. I have the prefacelift and apart from the USB in the back and the Wireless Charging, the rest doesn't seem practical to me. Heated steering is overrated for where I live (SA). I like the headunit in the middle as well. Infinity sound system is good but a simple D Class amplifier and good speakers makes the prefacelift unit just as good, if not better.

We have a 2016 Tucson highlander diesel. It’s a nice car. Wish it had active cruise control. I like where the stereo is but it doesn’t have car play or android auto. So you don’t get much info as you do on other factory stereos. Like name of song , weather etc. just comparing to a Holden that we had that displayed all that.

Mate good review keep it up. Just one point the voice button you talked About of not working. Whichever main stream car's in built voice command I have tried it is a complete crap. Mazda subaru toyota honda all rubbish they undertsand very few accents and are completely dumb and non intuitive. These systems make Google, siri and even alexa look much better. It is simple mate google, apple and Amazon are top end software dev companies with almost endless resources and money to do r&d and innovate in voice recognition tech. Software dev of car companies cannot stand in front of these which is fair because car companies r&d dept's main focus is to make their cars better not just their infotainment software and gps systems. I think hyundai and kia have realised this very well and did not waste their time and money to develop their own bespoke voice system instead gave voice command only when u are using AA and ACP. It looks like a positive thing to me rather than a negative as you have mentioned.

Yep, but one thing to keep in mind is that all of those other cars mentioned allow you to pass commands through to Siri or the Google equivalent on Bluetooth. You can't do that in this car unless it's paired by cable.

CarAdvice.com sorry I am not very clear on this. AA and ACP works only with a cable if you are not plugged into the main USB port of the car these two systems dont work. Using voice system Wireless invokes the car's own bespoke system which is what i described above how amazing it is :). So I am just wondering what is the advantage you are mentioning, sorry if I am missing something.

Sure - some inbuilt systems are great and some aren’t. But universally they are able to bypass the inbuilt system with a long press of the voice button, which passes the command on to Siri or the Google Equivalent. Hyundai products don’t have an inbuilt system and they also can’t pass commands through to the phone unless plugged in via smart phone mirroring.

Rheyal Gomes yes it is called Smart Sense. It comes standard in top 2 variants Elite and Highlander. In starting 2 variants Go and ActiveX you can add it as optional. www.hyundai.com.au/cars/suvs/tucson/safety 360 camera is not there unfortunately. Only reversing camera

That looks like the top of range model (sunroof), so it should have had the 360 cam (at least in europe it works that way).

I am so over this nonsense where you can only have this engine with that gearbox only with this trim level. Why can't I have the petrol turbo with a manual if I desire? I know the answer but it still sucks. Why would you put a jerky (sporty) dual clutch in a SUV?
