The black and chrome look great on the Springfield. I can see why you chose it. The 2018 model I rode in New England last year did not have the rear cylinder deactivation and it got really hot one day when it was in the low 90’s and I was in city traffic. I think this was a great upgrade to the motorcycle and I’m sure it would make a big difference here in Georgia. The gas mileage I got on the 2018 model was about the same. Too bad winter is here for you, but what a beautiful part of the country you’re lucky to live in. Take care.

I have to agree that it does look good. We live in an area where we have a lot of foreign tourist because of our proximity to Yellowstone. It seems if I stop in an area where they may be, I always have people ask if they can take pictures of it. I have even had a few ask if they could sit on it for a picture. I always let them because it may be there only chance ever and I am helping them make memories. So they must like it too. I am truly lucky to live here and now it is time to enjoy the beauty of winter although without the Springfield. Ride safe.

On another review here on KZbin guy says if you park the motorcycle overnight with the cylinder deactivation on upon starting it the next day a puff of smoke will come out. Also the tire pressure gauge reads off or "light on' until the bike warms up a few miles. Especially when it is cold outside in the morning. May took longer for yours but the dealership might have just repaired it or "reset" it. From what I understand it takes several hundred miles for the bike to kinda settle down.
@IdahoMtnRider3 жыл бұрын
I have found the tire pressure readings are pretty accurate from the TPMS and on cold mornings the tires will read low sometimes. I now have nearly 13000 miles on it and it has it quirks just like any other machine, but no real problems. Been loving every mile. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Indians are an Icon bike. Ride em for a lifetime, pass them down to your son, they're still cool. Wise choice. Real motorcycles have windscreens, not faring's full of electronics. It's nice to see that there are still guys around that like to ride em in the raw, so to speak. I prefer dual pipes over stereo speakers.

Beautiful looking bike. Like yours, I get compliments on my color scheme. Actually I get so many compliments that I get tired of saying "thank you". But I still appreciate the attention it gets. The Springfield looks good no matter what color it may be. Here in Phoenix, we don't have snow but we do have sometimes 115 degree temperatures so we're limited to riding as well. There are those who ride in spite of high temperatures but I prefer the cooler times of the year. Ride safe and keep the Springfield videos coming. BTW... Mine is a 2016 model with the colors of the 2017 model. Have a great and safe riding 2020.

@@IdahoMtnRider Yes... Those shredded re-caps can be quite dangerous. I've seen mattresses on the road at times, aluminum ladders that probably fell off of utility trucks out there also. Best to ride in daylight. Have a great day and ride safe.

Thanks, I here that the altitude can affect the mileage, (the higher the better.) So since all of my rides start at 4500 feet and go up from there that could be some of it. Also most everything I ride is 65 mph or slower so I am not on the gas too hard. Thanks for watching, ride safe.

Hey thanks for the review. I heard from a few places that the bike has trouble starting in the cold. You seem to be in a pretty cold place , have you had any problems starting it up ? Thanks
@IdahoMtnRider5 жыл бұрын
It has always started, but the recommended oil from Indian gets really thick when it gets cold. I think that is most of the problem. When you hit the starter button when dead cold the first few cranks are really slow in cold weather. After the motor has a little heat in it no matter what the temp is it will fire right up. The idea of the oil being super think was proven to me last week. I went to change the oil and the temp in my garage was about 38 degrees f. I could barely get the oil out of the bottle. I brought it in the house and let it warm up and then it would pour fine. I may have to try some full synthetic next time to see if that is really the problem. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Just you and your ride! Right on bro...Get some WIND!! 👍...as for the cruise and R deactivate I never had those issues, but as far as the throttle, it's designed to cut off cruise setting if you roll forward on the throttle. Rock on!!

Unfortunately the only wind I might get soon is going to be from my snowblower. Maybe I can still sneak in a couple of rides on the KLR before the snow hits. The cruise thing is really no big deal but I had to find something to complain about. Thanks for watching and commenting.

The comfort level with the stock seat is OK but is much better with the aftermarket seat I have now(Corbin). Hi I. M. R. You have a gorgeous Indian. I have been looking at Springfields for a year now. First off that gas mileage is tremendous. Do you have noticeable noise (clatter) from the valve train? I test rode a Vintage with only 13K on it and the noise was really a deal breaker for me. Also, if you would, how much did the passenger backrest set you back?
@IdahoMtnRider4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Indian did build a good looking bike. I do have some valve train noise at times, and I think it has to do with it being a push rod motor. After coming off overhead cam bikes where the valve train is much quieter it is a little unnerving. It also seems to get a little worse as the oil ages(just like my old small block fords). I have over 8000 on it now and still no problems. The backrest is about 650 if I remember right. If you passenger is 5'8" or taller make sure to get the 14" backrest because the 12" one will be to short for them. Don't ask me how I know, it is going to be an expensive lesson. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.
