I’ve had my pre-owned I-Pace for 3 weeks and I’m loving it. My last two cars were Supercharged V8’s and the performance of the I-Pace easily stacks up. Yes, I occasionally miss the sound and feel of the V8 but the instant torque of the I-Pace provides an alternative experience that is equally addictive. The handling for a car this size is incredible and the driving position and overall feel of the cabin makes the driving experience very hard to beat. It’s every bit, a drivers car. I agree with the comments about the brakes, the transition from regenerative to mechanical is a little clunky but like they say, you learn to change the way you brake. You very quickly get used to using the regenerative braking and very rarely touch the brake peddle. I generally do 250km per week and I easily have enough “free power hours” in my electricity plan to do all of my charging for free. NZ is introducing road user charges for EV’s which will cost me NZ$900/year, but in exchange for a $7,800 petrol bill, that sounds like a pretty good deal. I’ve also just picked up an Audi ETron 55 for my wife and I think we’ve made the right choice on both fronts. The E-Tron has the more traditional SUV elevated seating position that my wife likes and provides a bit more room for our 3 kids and dog. It has the most incredible ride comfort but it doesn’t compare with the Jag when it comes to driving dynamics. I drove it from Christchurch to Auckland which is roughly 1,100km and it was supremely comfortable. For highway driving, it’s hard to beat. The charging network is already pretty good in NZ, there were plenty of options available and my charge stops doubled as refreshment breaks. A weekend drive on my own, I will choose the Jag every time. A weekend away with the family? Why not take both, electricity is cheap compared to what I’ve been paying for petrol.

Fair play - that Brexit joke wasnt bad (n I’m a Brit). 👍🏽 just for that. Good vid. Earned yourself a sub buddy. You’ve inspired me to order my IPace in similar spec - but full Batmobile/Gangsta spec - black leather, black pack + black rims (“blk on blk on blk” as the kids say)🔥🔥🔥

With regen on you get used to the brakes very quickly, a day or 2. One foot driving is so chilled.

Completely agree, been driving a little linger and I’m loving one pedal driving. Other cars now feel backwards.

Nice review, but really don't need to see your hands waving around pointing at things - that's what camera positioning is for.. A lot of really good points made - nicely done.

Hi, (the complainer again!). It was good to meet you at Gaydon. Yes, audio’s sounding great. This time it’s probably me being a slow reader but a few times I had to rewind as the on screen text disappeared before I finished reading. Interesting video though. I, like you, would get very frustrated by the German post codes being so imprecise that you drive round endlessly only to fail to find the charger. Your idea of showing the approach to them is good. In the uk I usually look at charger locations in street view so I’ll recognise it when I get there but also to help avoid those that look like they’re in dodgy areas or ‘back-of-beyond’ with no food or facilities nearby.

One pedal driving takes 5mins to master and then the brake pedal becomes a kind of "emergency" back up brake

Had in mind to buy mercedes Benz glc 43 amg or to buy bmw x4 competition but this jaguar ipace which is electric made my mind to change its decisions towards it beautiful elegant power full something unique in terms of looks and design and mainly fuel consumption as Iam in India we pay 76 rupees per liter it’s almost 1 dollar usd per liter which is costly when compared to other countries

Great review. The thing that annoys me the most about Tesla drivers/fans is that they are overly critical of any other manufacturer's attempt. Of course Tesla's going to make better inroads on battery tech. They had a 12 year head start. The Model 3 is Tesla's 4th car (after Roadster Gen 1, Model S and Model X) which makes one wonder if they're more supportive of Tesla fanboyism as opposed to the electrification of the automobile in general. I've had a chance to ride in one here in the United States and the I-Pace is a really nice car, considering it's Jaguar's very first attempt. In time, it'll get better as all things do. And while people are critical of the range, I think Tesla fans forget that the Roadster only got around 230 miles of range when it came out...

Nope there will be massive difference. Because of Cost Price, there is a limitation how far an EV drive can be pushed. I doubt 4 Motor Torque Vectoring will be used of attainable mass produced cars. Very important factors like Number of Motors, Battery Size Weight & Chassis Suspension design. Such a flexible drive drain concept will have alot to talk about.

Heckle and Jeckle here like the iPace, but to me, even the lowly Model 3 blows this thing away in almost every aspect.

Once the novelty of EV wears off or becomes common, you'll go back to talking about cars the way we used to: Styling, handling, utility, ride quality, cost.....

Provblem is BEVs have unfair advantage in area like "Styling, handling, utility". The architecture is simply more flexible and optimal at packaging. Thus EV will need special consideration.

I have Jaguar ipace 2022. It's a piece of garbage. I named it death trap. In 6 months I escaped death 4 times. Jaguar is not concerned about it. Service is zero level. If we have cars and dealer like jaguar. Trust me jaguar will not be in business in near future. Beware this car stops abruptly in the middle of nowhere 🤔. Jaguar says they're is no problem. Seriously.
