3 plugs were all replaced?
@naimarbaje32026 ай бұрын
Thanks for the vid. Bro. I just finished mine. It's 10:27 pm EST where I'm at and I started like at 4:50. The first three plugs went by surprisingly fast. When I was screwing the engine cover back on, the right corner bolt seemed take forever to tigthen. My wife was helping me when I said, "this feels sorta loose but I feel like I'm overtightening". My wife was like, "well, just stop then". I was like, "one more turn and that's it". SNAP! Freaking bolt broke ON THE BLOCK. Shit. Now to carefully extract it without damaging the threading (cuz it would have been game over at that point) and then find a similar bolt. An hour later, removed and bolt replaced. But then the three plug assemblies from the front of the engine came off in parts. Like only the center (I think that's #4) came out in one piece. The other two came out with just the top part and it was a nightmare removing the rubber plugs without damaging them. Whatever. That's my horror story. Found out that the passenger side headlight wire is fried. The fuel pump has already been replaced under warranty (just before the recall was announced). This vehicle is starting to show its true colors.

@@naimarbaje3202 I’m sorry to hear that, but I’m glad you got it done 👊🏽… here’s my story, I worked at this vehicle early Friday morning for check engine light concerns I fixed the CEL and also mentioned a spark plugs service, I got a green light from the customers around 4:30 pm , customer wants their car back at 5pm, I’m like yeah I can get it done, I was doing good and confident that I can beat the promise time until I installed the 14mm intake manifold incorrectly, the bolt is not in the hole it’s just seating in the bracket, then I started the manifold long bolt by hand, when I used my ratchet I felt something is not right, well I ignored it and kept going until I heard a snap and the 10mm bolt kept spinning, we have to give the customer car rental with company expense and I showed up the next day to get it done. Small mistake ruined my weekend…

Great video! All though I don't understand why the designers would design it where you have to take the head off in order to change the rear three plugs. The front three make complete sense and look so much easier. My experience is swapping plug and coil pack on a 2.4L turn engine. Very easy to get to all four plugs on top. This obviously is a lot more intense but your video was great. Thank you very much!
@WrenchingRyan Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Most 3.3L V6 engine are designed this way but older Sorento with V6 in it don’t have to remove intake manifold to service all spark plugs, 2.4L are cheaper to maintain and easier to work on. Thanks again.

Thank you so much, I used the first part of this video (up to throttle body removal) to get to my PCV valve and replaced it with ease this past weekend. I would have gone further and did the plugs too but I had to order the surge tank gasket and it won't come until this Thursday. So will do them on the weekend. I hope the rest is as easy as you made it look. 😀 I have to comment for others to check the right spark plug for the year of your Sorento. Despite being similar to the 2019, I have a 2018 3.3L LX Sorento and the correct plug on the NGK and Kia parts websites indicates that the spark plug code is 18846 11070 for the V6 3.3L The 18849 11070 is for the 2018 2.4L, It is the correct one for the 2019 3.3L. I don't imagine the 2 plugs are that much different but it is strange they would make that switch one year later. Thanks again for your video

I'm only here wondering why it was an $800 labor charge for my wife's spark plugs. (I came here after hearing the quote, but before arguing). Now I know. It's honestly wild that no one in my family ever had a FWD V6 until this car. That was a surprising amount of work for what I generally think of as a "quick" job. Guess I know for next time.
