Just wanted to point out the Baseline MacBook Pro actually only has 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports. The $1,800 Mac Pro and above have 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports. Great comparison though as always.

If you only have one system you are running, get the MacBook Pro. I had to get a laptop for work and ended up selling my 2018 Mac mini with 6 core processor. I multi-task a lot and the MBP with 4 cores bogs down way less than the air... even with both at only 8GB of RAM. Anyhow, I started with the air thinking the same thing as this guy since I don't need to edit 4k video etc, but as a daily driver for my work-flow with lots of multi-tasking, the Pro is the way to go. I you don't multi-task, then opt for the Air. Also, being I'm on a laptop, the extra 100nits of brightness helps when I'm in brightly lit areas.

Karl, you're starting to come off as one of those car review guys that doesn't really use the vehicle (laptop) as a daily driver lol. You spend about a week with it and you become the subject matter expert... pro is definitely the way to go for only $200 more... the MBA doesn't really offer many more advantages if you want to be honest with yourself. What if I wanna use it in drawing a characters on Photoshop or illustrator then take them to put in motion graphics app like for example "cartoon animator 4" to give my characters the live to move & then montage my animation episodes before uploading to KZbin.. If so, I recommend buying MacBook Pro 2019 from ISwitch in Cairo festival and try to pay in instalments on a year the laptop will cost you around 41,700 EGP and you can divide them on 12 months and it would be a decent amount to pay every month, I don’t recommend tradeline since they just sell it way more expensive that it should be. I also recently discovered a store called Milan Stores search it up on Facebook, they sell their apple products with almost same prices as the US but I don’t know about the instalments, but I think you should ask, but for Iswtich I think it’s a safe choice because you’re guaranteed it’s original and you guarantee the warranty papers and everything, and that it’s legit.

handles perfectly, does everything you need it to and its pretty snappy. You don't need the pro line if you are just handling for web browsing, streaming, ppt, and word. The portability is KEY here so i think its perfect for school. However, if you already have a desktop computer or some kind of laptop, i recommend the ipad pro for school. Im finding that im using my ipad pro more often than my new macbook air. Note taking is unrivaled on the ipad and itll change the way you take notes and how you study. You can get a bluetooth wireless keyboard and with the new IPAD-OS 13 coming out...its becoming more like a computer.

As an incoming college student I picked up the Macbook Air 2018 2 weeks before the new ones dropped, but it is still truly amazing. I opted for 8 GB ram and 256 storage and the MBA is great. Whole true tone is nice, I like the retina screen and faster SSD combo over the true tone display and slower SSD found in the MBA 2019

I love your videos, but I feel like you need to remember two things: one, “professionals” do more things than just photos and video, and two, most people don’t need 512 Gb of storage. If you buy the Air, you likely don’t save any large files on your computer anyway. Streaming has done away with the need for huge storage capacity...

Air suits my needs perfectly with its longer battery life and better portability. for me, if the pro is your only computer, that might be the better choice. I, however, have a imac at home and another gaming laptop, so air is an obvious choice.

I had both 13” Air and Pro for over a year. I personally prefer the Air for its light weight and battery life (I travel a lot). Performance is not an issue for me since I don’t edit video often. I do wish for a Type-C connector on the right side. (I prefer to carry a shorter cable)
