2019 Mitsubishi ASX first drive review

I have run one for over two years now, 1.6 petrol. Economy good, comfortable and reliable. Forty thousand miles and not a cabin rattle. I rate it highly and will replace it with another. I like the styling tweaks. It has stood the test of time, and pricing is very keen.

Older vehicle yes, but it's a mature platform and there will be very little reliability issues. Mine is a 2011 model and it's still running flawless with 300,000+ km on it with no major mechanical issues so far

No CVT issues? Just asking because I'm considering this as my next vehicle. My Mom bought a 2015 new and currently has 32k miles with no issues so far. My only reliability concern long-term is the CVT.

its a handsome car, always has been. Styling is a bit abrupt in this new one for the front, but will see if it grows on people. The key part of a review that is missed in this area is towing capacity. The ASX blows all of those other nippy small capacity turbo cars away. Its actually able to tow things like campervans and other stuff, unlike pretty much everything else.

I was really looking forward to seeing the new 2020 ASX, but after seeing the revisions and updates, I must say I REALLY don't like it. The updated front is really busy looking. Refreshed rear looks nice. The stuck on fake side vents look like a cheap and tacky afterthought. The interior changes are so subtle I don't know why they bothered, and frankly, make the interior look cheaper, such as the silver painted climate control dials.

Eclipse Cross looks good to me but I think that makes the ASX a bit redundant and old looking.

I can't speak for the UK, but over here a Mitsubishi Lancer is the size of a Corolla for almost half the price and they look kinda nice.

Unfortunately the lancer was removed from market... dunno if in all europe.. but not available in uk nor spain 😔
