It's a damn shame they retained the original rear door panels. The widebody crease on the rear wheel arches scream cost cutting like no other. They did the same thing with the G80/G81 M3 (Touring). With the current pace of heavy weight cars you might consider a lorry license to be just ready for what's next. Btw, BMW. I'd happily replace any automotive designer that's currently employed at your design studio. I don't need to get paid for it either.

the front end I think I will end up really liking at some point, though I wouldn't say I *like* like it just yet. Definitely not a fan of the rear though. Pretty horrible IMO. But it seems that most M cars I initially hate, and then they grow on me pretty significantly. I hated the most recent M3, but I love it now. But the weight is a shame... I hope it's got some clever tricks up its sleeve to mask it. Looking forward to the first test drives

Yeah but it has all that mass to shift now which means its power to weight ratio is around the 2014 to 2017 M5. From 2018 to 2023 they significantly beat this M5 and the Competition and CS models stomped on this Hybrid in the power to weight stakes.

plug-in hybrid is such a lazy implementation. high performance cars like this need to be either strictly ICE or strictly EV, no in-between because plug-in hybrid's battery pack is so tiny that you'll run out of electric "juice" in a single 20-mile trip (discount that by half if any uphill climb is involved), then once the battery is depleted, you're essentially stuck with that dead weight until the next charge session.

they added electric motors to add HP to the v8, but add so much weight that it pretty much negates it, while ruining the handling. hustling backwards. The f90 was a legit supercar slayer but this is just not. I would have been happier with just the v8 by itself even if it came out to only 530 hp

I know it's a way to get people excited, but i'd love for the journalists (whatever their field is) to stop stating "most powerful M5 ever" or even worse "most powerful ICE Audi yet".... Feels like we're feed the marketing bs all over again. As for BMW, I don't even mind an EV to be honest. But please give us something that makes sense. RWD only, as light as possible, fun, nimble, balanced. Work on the steering and suspension more than the power figures. Those things matter more than having 900+hp that i'll never be able to use anywhere while still paying a premium for it. If all BMW care about is +1ing Mercedes and Audi, they've lost it.
