Look man if you buy ram, gm, or ford, and take care of it. They are all reliable. You would be shocked at how many people run there cars 50k miles and don't change their oil, and then complain when things start breaking. Its not a small number of people.
@johnappleseed92906 ай бұрын
It’s quality control. American manufacturers (GM, Ford, Buick, Chevy) are notorious for their unreliability. Statistically there seems to be more problems with RAM, Chevys and ford Post Covid. Yes I am aware this is a 2019, and I am not saying there are no solid American trucks out there that can outperform, what I am saying is that the numbers don’t lie. Where am I getting these numbers from? JD power is a great source. They have a year to year reporting on reliability score and the reasons why “said” brand truck is failing. More commonly RAM seems to rank on the bottom half of least reliable. Where is JD power getting these numbers from? I can’t say 100% for sure where but I am willing to bet a good amount is from the consumer. I will not 100% for sure that’s where it’s from.

This is obviously an e-Torque powertrain. Thats the only reason your brake pads lived beyond 100K. Also a great feature of the e-Torque platform is that it rev matches shifts. So every upshift or downshift the 48V motor spins up the crankshaft or slows it down to exact match the input speed to the ZF8HD transmission. This means you are never slipping clutches to change gears. It’s no surprise to me you could go 1/4 million miles with this transmission since it rarely ever spins clutches. It is basically a power shift transmission since the engine is doing all the RPM adjustments. Brakes are great because it uses the 48V motor to “grab” the crankshaft when you slow down. Regenerating the energy back into the battery instead of using friction & heat to slow you down. The rear pad will wear out first on a vehicle like this. It’s common. The stability control and other downhill stability “nanny’s “ utilize the rear brakes all the time without you knowing it. Cruise control, stop & go, and other nice features only use the rear brakes to control the vehicle to prevent lockup or sideways sliding during automated cruise. Basically, if you have e-Torque the front brakes only apply under heavy load or emergency stops. It’s an awesome system really. I owned a ‘21 limited for awhile and this is what I experienced. At 106,000 miles the front brakes were still like new.

You do not damage your trans by changing the fluid and filters, however if you just do the flush by recirculating the fluid thru one of those machines you will most likely have problems. Always drop the pan and change the filters and use new fluid. You are just setting yourself up for failure if you don't change it, kind of like not changing your engine oil.

This has to prove to other fan brands that ram doesn’t have crappy 5.7 motors and there transmission isn’t bad it’s good and a truck can last as long as you take care of it all I have done to my ram rt is oil changes every 4k miles that’s it it’s at 54k miles and it’s running perfectly

Great video . I would like to know if you feel any interrupted shifting from 2nd to 1st gear while stop ?
@MrJustinWheeler7 ай бұрын
Nope, nothing abnormal at this time.

Just turned 100,0000 miles on mine, she's treated me very well. You do a ton of towing so that would be why you are wearing the backs faster.

@@MrJustinWheelerdo it I kept “thinking about it “ for 3 years . 110 bucks later and 20% all around 5% brow I wish I would’ve done this 3 years ago especially on hot and sunny days interior temps are so much lower to begin with . Not to mention the sleek look of it when parked not being able to see inside

@@JoseOrtiz_1416 Yeah, I think its a good idea. I've been contemplating de-chroming the truck and dark windows would compliment that nicely.

Nice update. Looking forward to the lab results on the tranny fluid. I changed the fluid on my last Ram at 220k miles and the clutch discs started slipping the first time I towed a light load. I would leave it.

Excellent, mine just ran outta warranty !! hahaha.. last work they did was the exhaust manifolds. We'll see what happens next. Keep on keeping on :)
@MrJustinWheeler7 ай бұрын
I think the manifolds were the last thing I had done before the warranty ran out as well. They are ready to be replaced again. Lol
@Lumel1876 ай бұрын
@MrJustinWheeler would you say going with aftermarket exhaust headers would be a more permanent solution?
@Vhustle926 ай бұрын
I have 206k on my 2019 ram 2 radiators exhaust manifold screws a starter and new transmission but come to find out it has electrical problems and shifts out of gear sometimes other than that great truck

I actually did. But come to find out, the starter might have actually been fine. The solenoid wire was pretty loose. We posted a video about it.

QQ: Did you do anything with the OEM windshield? Mine is getting some road rash, not stone cracks but small scratches from wind+sand blasting. Very uncomfortable to drive towards the sunset. Im out of ideas but replace and put armor film on top of it
@MrJustinWheeler7 ай бұрын
My OEM windshield got TONS of rock chips. Eventually is developed a pretty big crack. They wanted $1,500 for an OEM replacement. I opted for an $1,100 aftermarket replacement. Once I got it in, I put a ceramic coating on it and I haven't gotten a single rock chip. That was 100k miles ago.

I hit a 106k miles and I needed new lifters and a new camshaft. All the oil changes were to Ram's specs. Almost $9k for the repair.
@proudamerican5518Ай бұрын
Did your truck have many idle hours on it? The fleet of trucks that my employer has seems to trend towards the higher idle hour hemis eating cams. Just curious. I’m sorry to hear about the lifter failure, that really sucks.

Nothing wrong with tossing some cash into an old vehicle that you have no payment on. People will happily toss $1K+ a month on a vehicle, or worse do 5-8 year or longer loans on a vehicle, but they'll scoff at someone with an old vehicle that they have to put $1-3K into once a year. I bought my '24 Laramie straight out because I paid off my 2014 Big Horn in 4 years, and saved my payments into another account for 6 years. If you can't afford a vehicle comfortably on a 36 month loan, it is too much vehicle for you. I've put 200k plus on my last 3 RAM's and no doubt I'll be able to do the same with this one.

Have you run into the leaky 3rd brake light or top antenna? Only got 70k on my 2019 and it leaks...their is a factory warranty cover, but working with dealer is a headache.
@ramrider14537 ай бұрын
I had to change my rear window for a small leak. Warranty covered it. Otherwise I had that and new back brakes at 80,000 Kilometers. Something was wrong for a brand new 2019 to prematurely wear out the brakes. And I had mostly highway miles and don’t tow. Ya… otherwise great great truck

Brakes can last like that if you are driving on the interstate all the time. The number of miles mean very little.... stop and go traffic is going to wreak havoc on everything.
