The 6 speed does have good ratios though. It's still a 4:1 in 1st gear I believe. That truck pulls hard the whole way.

The gears also helped big time. If he still had stock 3.55 ratio, it wouldn't have even been close.

Hmm I might try my luck at a newer 5.7 then cause I figure with just my 85 tune plus I’m running just my stock wheels and tires I think I could at least keep up. Now I wanna race!

I guess thats the good thing about the hemi.. you can commute with it and drive it gentle to get 15.8 mpg average, or you can romp on it a lot and only lose 2 mpgs. I've got a flowmaster super10 on mine with the rear resonators deleted, but there is something about the 5.0's sound as well that really hits the mark.

That’s funny because I always thought the opposite lol. The 5.0 just doesn’t sounds as good to me as a Hemi or an LS, but they do have great technology and performance for the size.

2019 f150 spec'd to 425 hp 5.0 i blow my sister's 2019 hemi out of the water. we both batch all equations before we claim a winner.... did she have 2 or 4 engaged? what rear axle did we have? were we both cammed and bored? any boosts? tires we were running? ... etc.. etc...

He was regeared to 4.56 though. By his calculations given the gear ratio and tire size, he was actually geared slightly better than if he still had stock tires with 3.55 gears which is what he did have stock.

But he also had bigger tires, so with his gearing, he basically had stock gearing with stock tire size essentially lol. Only difference now is more weight in the tires. A new 5.0 F-150 stock would likely beat my truck though just because they are lighter and have the 10 speed now..

Tony The Truck Guy yeah idk I think for my uses I’ll put a 34 or 33” tire on my truck with a 4.10 to preserve the stock feel, but also would like to do some engine modifications soon. Mines a 2012 5.0 fx4

Yeah that’s a good tire size for that gear. The FX4’s are nice trucks. Does yours have a rear locker? The 5.0 is a solid engine too, good choice.

I don't know about SMOKE, but I suspect it would win. I've only seen 1 video with the two trucks racing and I'm not sure that they had the same gear ratio.

@@XploreAz Definitely will smoke a new 5.7L Ram Hemi. The only trucks that can keep up with the new 10-Speed 5.0L's are the 6.2L GM's with the 10-Speed and the 10-Speed Ecoboost Fords. Ram is a distant 3rd. I own a 5.0L Ford and drive all them almost daily for my job, not knocking the OP's truck, it is nice and the new Ram's are the best they've ever been in my opinion, but they won't run with a 10-Speed 5.0L Ford.
