@@Caymanec Well, the Megane is down on power and slightly heavier than the GTI Clubsport S, plus the GTI was on faster Cup 2 semi-slick tyres, yet the Megane beat it by over 7 seconds.... So the Golf would need to improve quite a bit to beat 7:40. If someone has a chance it's Honda. But that 7:40 isn't Renault's last word either. They can still go with faster tyres and maybe a little more power.

French hot hatches are the best, Peugeot even uses forged pistons in a road car with that 1.6 liter turbo GTI version, here we have Renault with 1.8 liter engine, interesting downsizing when so many other hot hatches still using 2.0 liter engines.

"Jiggily" on the motorway, and "not unbearable" elsewhere... considering the lovely smooth surface road the tester is on, I'd hate to see it on a narrow bumpy backroad with lots of unevenly filled potholes. It should have adaptive dampers. This idea that you must buy the 'Sport' chassis, and therefore forego the Limited Slip Diff, if you want a compliant ride when not pushing on is old hat.
@lewisratford29085 жыл бұрын
mad4tar77 Agree. Looks like a very good / smooth stretch of road and he’s being jiggled about a lot. Needs adaptive dampers as most of the time you aren’t going to be hooning it around.

This! I would choose softer suspension set up but still want the lsd for traction. Why wouldn't Renault offer this as it is genuinely a practical car for families.

I love the idea of the car and four wheel steer sounds like a hoot but that ride looks way to busy. Uk roads aren’t the best and would want a car with adaptive dampers as would be using the car normally most of the time. Sportiest settings usually always turn cars in to a crashy mess on the roads.

I30 all day long. I have it and it's just brilliant. Brilliant ride quality, vast difference between damper settings (very smooth in comfort, very very hard but sporty in N), awesome steering (in N), better equipment, very good throttle response and by far the best sound of every 4 cylinder car. Only downer, since you also mentioned it, is the fuel consumption..it soakes up a lot more then i was expecting. I am averaging 20 mpg, which is a lot for a 4 cylinder car. But that's a small wehrmut drop, compared to the fun i get out of the car
