@@Caymanec Well, the Megane is down on power and slightly heavier than the GTI Clubsport S, plus the GTI was on faster Cup 2 semi-slick tyres, yet the Megane beat it by over 7 seconds.... So the Golf would need to improve quite a bit to beat 7:40. If someone has a chance it's Honda. But that 7:40 isn't Renault's last word either. They can still go with faster tyres and maybe a little more power.

Good review, car looks amazing, but only review I've seen that says the suspension isn't too bad, most say you can't live with it on a daily basis as its too firm. Personally I'd be fine with that as its a proper hot hatch.

Adaptive would be a great option to customers. Saying that it's a hot hatchback, if you want comfort buy a armchair
@overtaxed3628
@overtaxed3628 5 жыл бұрын
French hot hatches are the best, Peugeot even uses forged pistons in a road car with that 1.6 liter turbo GTI version, here we have Renault with 1.8 liter engine, interesting downsizing when so many other hot hatches still using 2.0 liter engines.

"Jiggily" on the motorway, and "not unbearable" elsewhere... considering the lovely smooth surface road the tester is on, I'd hate to see it on a narrow bumpy backroad with lots of unevenly filled potholes. It should have adaptive dampers. This idea that you must buy the 'Sport' chassis, and therefore forego the Limited Slip Diff, if you want a compliant ride when not pushing on is old hat.
@lewisratford2908
@lewisratford2908 5 жыл бұрын
mad4tar77 Agree. Looks like a very good / smooth stretch of road and he’s being jiggled about a lot. Needs adaptive dampers as most of the time you aren’t going to be hooning it around.

This! I would choose softer suspension set up but still want the lsd for traction. Why wouldn't Renault offer this as it is genuinely a practical car for families.

I love the idea of the car and four wheel steer sounds like a hoot but that ride looks way to busy. Uk roads aren’t the best and would want a car with adaptive dampers as would be using the car normally most of the time. Sportiest settings usually always turn cars in to a crashy mess on the roads.

jackson same engined car....the m140i, the thing is a animal not used the rear seats so the practicality thing really isn't a consideration for me. The thing is as close to an M2 up to crazy speeds as I'd ever dream of going, even more so in less than dry warm perfect road conditions. If there were one thing id wish for it would be four wheel drive but then it would be better than the M2....clever marketing from BMW

@@ChrisMisMYhandle Had a 265 as well and while I'd say the new one is more practical and more grown up the 265 was way more fun to drive, felt lighter, nimbler and just as fast. Also looks better, atleast in my opinion. The only new hot hatch I found better was i30N(surprisingly) and the new civic type R which unfortunately looks childish.
@ChrisMisMYhandle
@ChrisMisMYhandle 5 жыл бұрын
@@alexm6340 yeah the civic appeals to me in every way apart from the styling. Although I do think it looks good in some colours. A liquid yellow megane with (discreet) trophy decals on the sight does draw a few looks. I30 all day long. I have it and it's just brilliant. Brilliant ride quality, vast difference between damper settings (very smooth in comfort, very very hard but sporty in N), awesome steering (in N), better equipment, very good throttle response and by far the best sound of every 4 cylinder car. Only downer, since you also mentioned it, is the fuel consumption..it soakes up a lot more then i was expecting. I am averaging 20 mpg, which is a lot for a 4 cylinder car. But that's a small wehrmut drop, compared to the fun i get out of the car

@@Mountain_Manu Thank you very much for your comment mate!! I really am in love with the i30N, today I read there may be an AWD 300+hp i30N in the works, so if the current FWD 275hp one is full of thrills I can't imagine what Hyundai can obtain with such a platform. By the way hahahahhaa I said Smiles per gallon 😂😂 But thanks for addressing fuel economy too! You don't happen to be from Spain do you? Again, thanks buddy!!
