@@jess5.019 lots of research. The part numbers have been superseded and changed. It was very difficult to get the correct part. With crazy backorders right now, good luck. Sincerely. Try Amazon first, then GM parts discount sites.

Used a 6MM box wrench on the small push together tabs, worked really well up in the corner of the cap.

If anyone else stumbles on this video, these mirror caps are the easiest of any gen GM full size truck I've come across to remove/change. You do NOT need to disassemble the mirror and can just remove the cap itself. There are 2 clips holding them in, that's it. The big plastic hooks inside (if you have replacements in your hand wondering what they're for) do not attach to anything. I assume they're part of the paint process (to hang and paint) and/or final assembly purposes. All that leaves is the 2 pinch clips that go straight in. All you need to do is get a interior panel pry tool in between the cap and main body and pull outward, NOT UP. They're located at either end of the mirror, at the end nearest the glass and one at the other end nearest the road. If you pull TOWARD you rather than up they'll pop right out. The hardest part is getting the trim tool started. Use a super thin one and then graduate it up to bigger sizes. If you start at the end nearest the glass and get it to pop out it's really easy to get the other one to release. Just don't bend/torque anything, pull straight out toward you and shouldn't break anything. This may not be the case with the chrome caps, they're notoriously brittle but if you're real careful they shouldn't and both sides won't take 10 minutes. That being said this is a great video if you're doing it this way and well explained but there seems to be a misconception about having to disassemble these mirrors to change the cap.

great video on mirrors. Do you have a video on replacing the gear that actually rotates and folds the entire mirror assy flat against the door? Apparently the gear splits along it's shaft not allowing the mirror to fold in (like when going into a auto car wash bay)
