Thanks Phil for the help. ;-) My delima was, I have an appointment this evening to possibly buy a bedcap for my truck. It is used and the blue color in the ad online looked liked a match but the owner can not confirm a color code so I needed something with me that is the color of my truck since I can't drive it since my truck is actually at a shop awaiting to be serviced. I tried finding touch up paint at al the auto parts stores to use to match with with no luck so your help solved the issue since my mirror caps are color matched to my truck. I just drove over and removed one of the caps to take with me. PS. I told the shop what I was doing so they will not be concerned that one is now missing. ;-)

Glass just pops off. Use even pressure. Don't pull too hard as it has connectors for the heat and blinker.

When doing the mirrors upgrade from basic to the power folding and built in turn signal mirrors, the flood light under the mirrors dont activate or turn on when unlocking my truck. Do u make a harness for that light? I purchased the harnesses required for this upgrade already from you, but the flood lights dont work and i believe my main harness at the door jamb doesn't have the pins for this option.

So you have DL3 Mirrors with the white downward shining light? If so, those are supposed to come on at night, when you unlock the truck with the key fob. Depending on your year and trim, your door jamb connector may not have the puddle lamp pin present. Email at [e-mail] for more info.. We can validate the needs.

4:43 onward. Thanks for the guide. Unfortunately, the brittle clips and tabs still broke due to seven years of sweltering South Texas heat. I did not encounter any J-hooks, and photos show that GM has possibly eliminated them.

Phil, I'm looking at the Boost mirrors for my GMC Truck. I would like to add puddle lights to them. I currently have the DL3 option mirrors on my truck. Have you looked at that addition to any tow mirrors yet?

Yes, actually had another customer doing the same thing. He will be drilling a hole in the mirror assembly (lower part) and installing the puddle light. Contact me HarnessDR.com and we can go through the needs.

The chrome caps are much more bridle. I broke mine changing my driver's side mirror trying to see if the replacement vibrated less. I broke the snap spring ones. I figured since 99 -06 mirror caps are attached with 3M tape I put some on the mirror near those clips. I snapped it back in with the rest of the good clips and the double sided tape; it seems to be holding well.

You are absolutely right! Chrome is more brittle. I have had my share of broken chrome tabs myself.

If you install the DL3 Mirrors and keep the same stock harness, power fold will work once you install the new switch.

HI Phil... quick question, I have a 2014 GMC Sierra SLE, I got the DL3 mirrors from a GMC Denali together with the harnesses, as well the switch, I install them and I don't have power folding as well I don't have functionality at all on the passenger side and some functionality on the driver side, I saw that you mentioned if I keep the stock harness from the DL8 mirrors I will get power folding?? if so what other functionality will be working?? thanks in advance....

Enrique Quintero - That’s correct. The reason for this is that those functions you lost go through the Seat Memory Module. If you reinstall your factory harnesses, you’ll get power Fold... BUT, you have to use the right switch. If you force the switch that came with the mirrors, you’ll blow a fuse.

Great video, works great on the painted ones. The chrome covers are so brittle I don't think you can get them off without breaking those first set of bottom tabs. I couldn't imagine trying to take these off while not on the truck, much less while videoing it.

@@zukerama Every set of chrome caps I've removed ended up with broken tabs. The plastic is much more rigid and brittle. That being said, I've never gone out of my way to save/care about them because it's always the chrome ones I'm getting rid of. I'm careful but still break them.

I did too, but I got a set of dl3’s to upgrade from my dl8’s , I put the chrome ones back on and they still stuck on with broken clips, guess I’ll be ever more careful when I swap my black caps on

Ugh. Chrome caps? I found that chrome is more brittle. Another option would be to remove the glass and see if the housing can separate, giving you access to the caps.

3 things Id like to mention. 1 YOU have got to be a GM mechanic. 2 Because of #1 you surely talk more than DO. #3 because of #1 you had to make this procedure 2x more difficult than it needed to be. Plz tell us why u had to remove said mirror from door panel? I know bcuz of #1 you had to milk the clock of 90.00 dollars an hour.

Bak Draft 1. Nope. I have nothing to do with GM. Just a guy that did some upgrades. 2. Just want to be completely thorough than just “pop it out”... and all of a sudden, something is broken. 3. I have many mirrors and did the video on an extra set I had laying around instead of the one on my truck. Chrome caps are more brittle more than the textured black or painted ones so the GM community asked for a detailed video on how NOT to break the tabs while removing.
