Great review. Simple and down to earth. No nonsense. A breath of fresh air. (Morecambe - my home town too).

Thanks, Jonathan - glad you liked it! 👍 It’s a versatile car, and I love that EyeSight, on the door step too *A

I had the same model, superb car. Shame they dont offer the 2.5 in the new Forester as its weight being a hybrid is nearly the same as this model Outback. The new Outback has slightly less BHP but more torque and an updated CVT. Prices still a bit steep but im working on it. Hybrids have lithium ion batteries, and since the news item by Toyota that they reckon solid state batteries will be in their hybrids from about 2025, im thinking it might be best to go for the non hybrid Outback but I dont know really as the new XV e-boxer is a good alternative at far less cost while we see what happens as regards batteries. If solid state happens as reported, and with petrol assistance give out far more power then it may be that current hybrids will be seen as old fashioned tech and lose value which could be concerning. Wonder if a swap out of batteries would be offered if Subaru adopted the same. All ifs and buts though. I will just get the car I feel is right at the time, next year hopefully. More than likely a Subaru of some sort.

It’s an interesting time with tech, blade, solid state etc - it makes sense to sit and watch how it goes, new tech you’d expect would reduce the cost of existing hybrids, meaning they’ll likely be some great deals. Depends on your needs, I suppose - thank you Oddities, keep us posted.

Another great review. Turning off your abs is useful, when it comes to driving in the snow. :

Interesting to see the slight difference between the UK version and the Aussie version. We get fully integrated roof racks, full-size spare, and extended wheel arch covers! :-)

The Aussies get all the cool features, it’s the same with pickups you get way bigger engines too, are the powertrains the same in the Subaru models? Thank you Martin

@@PlanetautoUK We have a 2l turbo diesel a 2.5i and a 3.6l. I've just ordered a Red 2.5i version!

Ooo powered up, we would love to experience some of those engines, we’re looking forward to the new Levorg.

Funny I would have thought the UK with it's bigger market would've had more choice! Go figure!

Oh no we’re all about emissions, even BMW favour the 4 cylinder hybrid over the straight 6.

If you took the foam inserts out below the boot floor, could you fit a full size spare in there?

Hmm good question, we’ll see if we can find out

@@PlanetautoUK Hi - thans for the speed reply. I've just watched this vid on the Outback from CarAdvice (in Aus) and at 4:12 they show a full size ally spare. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXacm6uNhbt6g5I Presumedly, it's the same floor pan dimensions/spare wheel shpaed space in the UK? Or maybe not! :D

J you’re welcome, another good question, you’d think it was but we’ll double check.

Yes you can fit a full size spare as I've fitted one in my 2015 uk outback diesel

@@Paulrodgers1975 Thanks for replying Paul. Yes, you definitely can :) I bought one eventually in 2021 and have an alloy spare and tyre fitted to mine. Nice motor.
