I bought the General Tire Altimax Arctic 12. 225/55r/16. I put them on my 2004 Mercedes E320, with the 4-matic drive system. My reaction to them is practically identical to your reaction and review. I paid $701 for the set, mounted /balanced and taxes/fees. I feel much safer on the road with a fully dedicated snow tire. Also it’s important to maintain the proper air pressure. Tire pressure can change dramatically when the temperatures rise and fall. Having snow tires on my vehicle has provided more confidence. I have good maneuvering and braking. I’m able to maintain a straight line when breaking, with is very comforting. And the tires are not loud, even on dry pavement. Snow tires provide the most safety for driving in low temperatures (below 45 degrees) and the associated winter conditions. I highly recommend them and encourage everyone to get snow tires if they can afford to do so. They are a good investment to protect your vehicle and maintain safety for family and friends. Tow trucks are costly. $100-200, Minor Vehicle damage is even more costly. Far more than $500-1,000 for a set of snow tires. And by using snow tires for 3-4 months, the life of your summer tires is extended. I really do wish more people would buy snow tires. Everyone’s safety would be improved.

I had them on my 16 cx5. I now have them on my 2020 cx5 gt. Waiting for the snow. They drive great on dry pavement also. Definitely a good buy. I take them off when snow isn’t predicted in the forecast though. I have separate rims for the snows. Takes about 20 min to swap them out! When installing or rotating I do suggest you pay attention to the arrows on the sidewall. These tires can’t be rotated criss cross. They are front and back.

Ltd is the best trim for snow and unpredictable weather conditions due to its centre Torsen differential being unlocked all the time. Other trims like trd and SR5 has the traditional part time 4wd which you will need to manually engage 4hi when it snows and it's a pain in the ass to do a U turn. Plus,you can't go over 80Km/h on highway.
@workplaytv5 жыл бұрын
Brian Zhu Oh yeah I agree with you for sure. As a daily winter driving truck the LTD is the best for sure. Effortless and no bucking and bucking when making tight turns.

Gx460 can be found cheaper in alot of cases because people dont really get rid of their 4runners. If you're buying used, go with the gx. If youre buying new, i think the 4runner might be cheaper. Dont quote me on that, vehicles nowadays are damn pricey

Now the problem with the Blazer 4x4 is up to 05' the gear ratio And the torque of the V6 engine was pretty strong in first And second gear You could smoke the tires The same could be said for trying to make a left-hand turn at a traffic light with cars behind you And other cars infront of you making a turn aswell Letting go of the brake you had a small push forward Taping the gas The truck would fish out It was a very fine line on moving with those M+S tires The same for stopping Blizzacks changed that You did not have to worry about sliding around the sides ..I mean if you were trying to do a donut even on ice You could but even then feel traction long with it .......Steel rims And Blizacks (aluminum snaps off)

Thanks for the great Video. Disappointed to see some sedan or smaller SUV on the same road since they probably didn't have Blizzak or 4Runner but is driving on the same road without slipping. Anyway, thinking of putting these on Acura MDX during this coming winter since my kid College is up in Rochester, NY. Thanks again for the Video!

Yes I love my blizzaks to. But if you look at 11:13 in the video, your tires did slip. Sorry I hate to be like that but i did have to call you out on that.

I have an 09 4runner Sr5 I get an average of 15.5 mpg. To be completely honest you really don’t notice the mpg. But you don’t buy a 4runner for the Mpg you buy it for its performance!

I've have the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 on my 07 Xterra for 5 season now. Really great tire for deep snow and ice, but wet traction could be better. On my 2021 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium I'm running the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 SUV.

FXThe limited has a electric locking center dif so AWD with the option of locking in 4x4 if you want locking rear axle and manual transfer case you need the off-road or TRD pro. The limited has A-Trac with is pretty awesome.

Bridgestone tires have short life , but they are great and expensive , i recommend General Tire same type, cheap and Bridgestone type of performance , Snow tires have soft rubber made for cold weather does not get hard and thats why these are awesome for snow .

I would take this over any Subaru!! Here is why (1) more reliable once the engine hits over 150,000 km (2) parts such as timing belt and clutch are much cheaper and (3) much better utility. The only down side is the gas but I think compared to the WRX and STI there is not much of difference as they take premium vs regular for the runner!

I have 4runner and wrx. For fuel subaru lot better part cheaper than 4runner. Both bunch of aftermarket parts. If you take care both can hit 200k. My 4runner 264k miles. They are expensive parts too. I use 4runner for off road but if 4runner manual transmission easy hit 400k. I am happy with wrx and 4runner.

The only reason they use that tire is NOT because of performance but because they underbid everyone else by a few bucks. Same thing goes for why the highway patrol in th U.S use Fords...Ford under bids everyone by a couple of bucks a car...doesnt mean they are the best for the job.
