Probably some kind of tracking device. The dead giveaway was the black OBD connector. Notice the OEM connector is white. Toyota frequently uses white connectors as do other Asian manufacturers. But I am going to remember to count the pins as well. Great info!

Some of the remote starter harnesses are white so that is why I always check for the pins.

I just saw a video on that and If that is the same thing that is a GPS tracker. The owners of that car may not know that it is there. You ma want to inform the shop to see if they want to do something about it.

I think some people put in the splitter to add in a throttle controller. And i believe they tell you to clip a wire so it doesnt blow the ecu. If you used the scanner on the other port it should have worked but if thats going to be used by a daily normal person they wont be needing that.

How would it control the throttle without the CAN network?
@hachiback60186 ай бұрын
@@advancedleveldiagnostics not exactly sure but I saw this exact instructions for a generic throttle controller before so I ended up not buying it.

The steering angle sensor in the clock spring on Toyota is bad about shorting them CAN and taking the network down. When it happens, the cluster doesn't communicate and all the lights will be lit.
