Monster KXF Factory riders don’t ride production bikes, he’s been developing this 19 for at least the last couple of years, fact is he’s had hydraulic clutch prob e start easily on that time, frame feedback and design that takes time, what he’s been riding is not the 18 bike and if you believe that power to you. None of the riders do at that level, in fact it’s common knowledge allot of the production rules are regularly violated and ignored. It’s more Factory now than ever, except for one off handmade stuff.

MXA shootouts are more technical, with longer testing periods, and more realistic assessments of the bikes. They're not afraid to discuss negatives...they discuss clutch problems, suspension issues, air filter problems, and other significant items (like 18lb weight differences) that the others either don't notice, don't test long enough to find, or simply gloss over. I own both KTM and Yamaha bikes, but these results just don't make sense to me. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact I got my 1st dirt bike 41 years ago. Some of the big criticisms leveled here have simple, free fixes. Some of the problems they don't bring up have very expensive, or near impossible (cut 18 lbs of weight?) solutions.

KTM and Husky are slow revving... I guess there is or will be an easy fix for that, like 2018 mapping? If it's the case, they can be on top again just like that and so they are still excellent race bikes weighting 20 pounds less... These shootouts are great but there is more to it than that, like rider preferences, budget, availability, race programs (contingency), having a good dealer, etc. Even if it's the last, a bike like the Suzuki could fit many vet or novice riders. Or could be a pro weapon with the right modifications (expensive of course). So as interesting as they are, these shootouts are not the final word for everyone everywhere.
@TG93Handle6 жыл бұрын
If we're considering everything, the KTM is the most expensive, a lot of riders like other bikes more, they don't have contingency, and dealers are more far and few than others and usually cost more for maintenance, parts etc.

@mtbmoto83416 жыл бұрын
I think there is truth to your statement but Gamerred93 is right, you will always have that little bit of bias in your head. For example, I imagine the Kawi is a straight out of the box ripper, but as as a guy who has to wrench on his own bike every 4 hours, it doesn't hold a candle to the ktm, husqy or Yamaha for durability. These are the "second string" biases that stay in my head even if the kawi wins, I find their fit and finish to be brutally inferior and I am not talking about estart and all that, I mean literally the bolts, the footpegs, the hubs, the shift levers etc. Suzuki for example is a sweeet bike, I wish I could have one, but coming at a dealership for $300 less than the yamaha for example, I will go with the yamaha in a heartbeat bet etc. etc. These tests are just for extracting the hard details like who pulls the hardest, which feels the lightest. It is up to you to then weigh out the bike you would be happy with because even a $1000 difference is probably pushing me to one brand or another.
