PROS: Nice engine, easy to use, soft clutch, decent comfort, good suspensions setting, building and finishing quality, gas mileage., surprisingly good handling. CONS: no way to change suspension settings, a bit of heat near right leg, cluttered and unfriendly instrument panel layout, price a bit too high. Watch out clutch plastic wire snapping off its plastic retention clip than touching left header and melting down.

Number #1 on my "if I could have any bike" list. No one buys a bike like this for detailed performance. They buy it for two things only...Looks and torque. Having said that, it's performance is phenomenal.

Would you buy this speed twin or the ninet? Do you think any ninet model is better than this speed twin for committing everyday? Thanks for your reviews!
@nickbanham87505 жыл бұрын
I have ridden the R ninet 2016 Euro 3, (was the best from handling for sure of the BMW's) the Pure 2019 and Scrambler both Euro 4 also the Triumph Speed twin, there is so much heat coming up from the Speed Twin it is incredibly hot. In city traffic the heat is almost unbearable, admittedly it was a very hot day when I had my test ride, but the engine heat topped the lot, where as the BMW's I never once noticed a heat issue at all, it was also in the high 30's degrees so also a very hot day.. The Pure makes a super super sound from the Remus single exhaust.. It barks literally, so much so you have to blip the throttle at the lights but it is not an offensive sound, the Triumph sounds good in its own way but does tend get on your nerves after a while, however the noise lever does actually go down at higher speeds so that is ok.. Triumph's handling has defiantly a sharper front end, a little twitchy at times but it is noticeably lighter than the Beemers, the Pure was second handling wise (also second to the old original Euro 3 bikes made up to 2016) but more weight and different riding styles owing to body positions being different on both bikes. I'm small but my knees kind of nipped and went under the tank on the Triumph, I sat slightly back on the seat to see if it made a difference, about a hand width, it felt like I was sitting really far back but when feeling behind me there was so much room for your girlfriend if she was along for the ride. Strangely I felt that a higher seat would really help me like the bike more.. Brake squeal on the Triumph also, the brakes on the Truxton are so much better, Speed twin the brakes were incredibly snatchy so much so I found myself releasing brake pressure and then reapplying it again. BMW (Pure as well) and Thruxton are progressive and not once did the ABS cut in even when braking hard for an unexpected red light. Which would I buy? Triumph is more modern, handling very good still I felt disappointed a little compared to the now older BMW as I really wanted to like the Triumph and BMW after all everyone has one, still EURO 3 R ninet or Pure then Street Twin, or perhaps the Street Twin? Finally with the R ninet's I did not feel the need to go fast, the Triumph I was doing 120 kmh when I looked at the speedo, 60 was the limit oopps. I still have not rally decided, I think you would be happy with either as both are somehow special, Street twin is certainly better value for money and will be a sort after bike in the near future if you sell your bike lets say every two years.. But the heat is on, on and up from the Triumph, we all know heat rises... as Jo Cocker sang, 'Hot town summer in the city back of my neck getting dirty and gritty'..

@@redduketeleman and if I lost 15kg in weight, all the effort Triumph did in reducing the weight of the speed twin would not be as wasted as it currently is on me. The new 1250 R comes to mind. 😁 More power, no heat issues, heated grips, cruise control, comfortable, ready for gps, ready for bags, dynamic suspension, quick shifter etc. I know its about 5000 more, however personally a far better bike that i will have too save for.

Very risky and dangerous riding in that tunnel passing both sides of traffic between cars ! That's a recipe for disaster ! That is unlawful riding here in the UK. All it takes is a car driver to deviate line of travel and your brown bread (dead). Passing between cars when they are stationery is much safer but not at those speeds here.

@FlorinNitulescu_15 жыл бұрын
abazdarhon I bet you haven’t ridden or seen one in person, before making that statement. Not trying to crush your hopes and dreams, but quality, fit and finish and technology are superior in the Speed Twin than the R9T. Don’t get me wrong, the Bmw is a beautiful bike, but Triumph raised the bar pretty high with its latest models. Bmw has to catch up, especially at those superior prices (which today are not justified anymore). Cheers

The problem with the R9T is it's a very ugly looking bike for a retro. It looks good from only about 2 angles. They should have hired some Italian designers.
