In the final comparison starting at 18:45, the stock exhaust clearly sounds deeper and, at least to me, better. The V&H and the V&H + X pipe have a higher pitch and less refined sound. I'm not against performance mods and if the V&H + X pipe gives you a feel, (you claim it has more torque), that's great. But from a sound perspective, at least from the perspective you shot in the video, stock wins IMHO.

Hi Stephen...little late to respond but if you haven't got that far...I I have a '22 Speed Twin and actually like the stock sound. I like it even better after I took the baffles out. Super easy job on the US model. Once the the tack weld on the retaining screw was ground off with a dremel, the baffles should slide ride out. Mine were a bit to tight to just slide out but i made a little j hook jig that pulled them right out with out having to pry on them...super easy. I am waiting on a Freespirits XL pipe and want to see how it sounds with the decat and the stock pipes without the baffles. Might be able to keep it less expensive without having to buy pipes if the stockers sound good enough without the baffles.

Would you recommend a power commander if I were to change the air filter too? And what do you think about wrapping the exhaust?

I don’t think this bike needs the help from a power commander, in another video I do change the air filter out for more air flow. I personally hate the way exhaust wrap looks, so I avoid it even if it does lock in some of the heat!

@@AdamCroll Would you atleast suggest a dyno tune one time if I do the whole exhaust set up you've done as well as an air filter on the speed twin? Also, I'm fine with the looks, but I've heard that wrapping can actually be bad for the bike in the long run. I aim to die old, but still on my bike. Do you know anything abou that?

I’ve never done a dunk run on any bikes, it would be cool to know what’s going on with the performance. Everything I’ve read says the triumphs ECU adapts pretty well on its own.
