That car is the safest and the best value for money in its class. Why i say this the body work under the door is thee feature that makes the car very safe should one have a side impact! This car is underrated, it is the type of car one would love using on road trip. It is sweet, just imagine driving this through highway 12 in Utah!! Oh my God!!
@chadhaire17115 жыл бұрын
bodywork under the car has NO "impact" on a side impact...the other cars bumper will be higher than the bodywork and is mostly empty space. You are NO safer...
@MrCareaboutyou5 жыл бұрын
That is debatable! Try putting one palm around the B pillar that is the thickest in its class
@chadhaire17115 жыл бұрын
@@MrCareaboutyou it is not debatable.....like I said the other cars bumper will hit the door, not the rocker panel under the door, so even if it was made out of 6 inch steel, would mean nothing. Most rockers are hollow anyway.

Like the design of this car, I've considered buying one which never thought I'd ever say this but with the city & highway fuel economy this be worth buying vs American cars which don't get that good depending on model & engine size. Price of this car is a decent price too. The Atlas looks great too.

I just bought a 2020 Passat SE about a month ago. Got it for $6000 off sticker price. I'm getting 37 mpg at highway speeds. Very roomy and comfortable. Smooth ride and drive train. Interior is simple and functional. Just what I wanted. My insurance actually went down because of the safety features! Basicly the same as 2019 (same platform) with new exterior sheet metal and s few interior upgrades. Mine is Platinum Gray Metallic with black interior. Like the wheels too.

Nice car. Good video. The rocker panel, a VW dealership where my car was service damaged the rocker panels with the lift jack they said the jack slipped. My car had no dents. The lift jack dented the rocker panel. VW should re think how to design the rocker panels.

13:33 Check engine light is on. Yep, it's a Volkswagen. ;) You have to give VW credit...they design pretty handsome vehicles. Simple and elegant, not overwrought Voltron-looking things like Toyota and Honda are selling these days. I keep thinking about those large rocker panels most cars seem to have these days. I wonder if they improve the rigidity of the chassis.
@chadhaire17115 жыл бұрын
that was not the check engine light--it was the fuel warning gauge--you were not paying attention!!!! However the check engine light was on at one time where the ignition was on but engine was not running...at that point ALL warning lights are on..nothing to see here!! LOL

I haven't bothered to go through the comments so I don't know if anyone else has said this but I do kind of find it funny that you bother to use the built-in trip computer to determine your miles per gallon. I have never found a trip computer yet that I actually can match old fashioned math. This being said I actually enjoyed your video and I found it very informative and actually entertaining to watch. Thanks for taking your time to do it.
@chadhaire17115 жыл бұрын
The difference between the trip computer and speedometer is about 5%, but how do you know which is the accurate figure? Most speedometers are off by...are you ready...5%. So the computer just might be the more accurate one! In any case 5% is close enough for me, and accurate enough if you have racked up 200 miles.

In the Metro NY area, see the 2019 lineup includes a Wolfsburg Edition similar to this car but with 17" wheels, so should have a better ride than this R-Type. Most R-Types in our area are fully loaded and price out closer to $30,000.

I live in the north east and the Sun can bake the side of my face damn near all year round. I ask myself why they didn't design a slide panel to extend from the end of the visor like other car mfg have. I get 26 MPG but do not do long trips (mostly suburban driving). My Passat diesel did 38 MPG on the same exact roads with the same driving. The 1.8T is a nice engine. My pants do get some dirt from the rocker panel design in the winter. Watch that left driver side storage cubby door if it's down and you get in you may scrape your shin pretty bad. Wheels get rash easy so don't scrape curb. Nice roomy car at a reasonable price I wish they continued the SE w/technology beyond 2017. I don't like the R-line front cowls much the 17 SE front design looked better IMHO.
