That must be the 2018 or earlier model. I drive a 2008 Passat with the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder turbo that puts out 200 horses. Yea, my Passat is quick but It uses Premium unleaded. It will run on unleaded though!

The VW V6 is one of the best engines they ever made, sounds great and fairly reliable if you treat it well. Unfortunately the efficiency sucks..there are more powerful 6 cylinder engines that get better gas mileage.

I leased this car , I’m about 2k miles in and it’s really solid for a daily commuter. If you want to maximize the driving experience gotta enter the plus minus manual mode. Computers occasionally glitch out but other than that no real complaints. Would have been awesome to get the LED daytime lights on the Wolfsburg , or a V6 line , but the rims are impressive , standard features impressive , etc. probably one of the cooler cars in the class. Plenty of room in the car overall especially the back seat. Def happy with it , for my next car def want a bigger engine , but the turbo in this sounds nice with the wooshes, it’s kind of surprising. I have a 2012 Passat SE and it’s my first car. It’s such a good car especially for the money. Mine is a 2.5L in-line 5 cyl. I got mine for a steal, $7,000 and when I got it it had only 39k miles on it.

I got 2013 SE 5 cyl. 8600$. Absolute beauty... these cars are awesome. I drove lexus es350 for three years 2016 to 2019. When i drive passat i feel i have more space here than es350

VW never should have gotten rid of the 5 cylinder engine, unique sound and pretty bulletproof if well taken care of. The gas mileage was lackluster, but they didn't keep it long enough to mate it to a modern 8 speed trans that could help a bit.

Love my 2019.. My only complaints on the car is braking feels weird at time, kinda like the pads get stuck at times at a stop light. Also the transmission feels like it’s always guessing or looking for the right gear

What's better the Passat or a Camry?

I'm trying to find out the same thing. I hear many complaints about the 8 speed transmission in the Camry. Check out car complaints.com for reviews of both cars Passat has very few complaints listed.

Passat all the way. Camry has CVT and I will avoid any car with a CVT!

Camry for sure unless backseat legroom and trunk space are your only priorities. With the latest 2025 Camry they may have even surpassed the Honda Accord as the best mid-sized car, and that's never been the case before.

​@@claudiagardea8315Camry only has CVT on the Hybrid models, but it's not really a CVT in the conventional sense. It's very smooth and has proven reliable as well. All the gas models have a regular 8 speed auto.

​@@brandonmarrs4222the Camry is the best selling mid-sized car in the U.S. (way outsells the Passat) so it's going to have more complaints by default. Having said that, I'm pretty sure the 2012-2022 U.S. built Passat is the most reliable VW model sold here. Of course that's mostly due to 2 factors, 1. It is built on an older platform (European Skoda Superb I think) that had most of the kinks already worked out. 2. VW never made a high performance Passat or loaded them down with the latest and greatest tech features.

I always found it strange how when VW does a "Wolfsburg Edition" it always seems to be a bare bones base model with a couple cheap plastic badges😂 (or at least in the U.S. it's that way) Shouldnt a car bearing the name of the city where the company was born be at least be a little bit special? Of course low effort has always been VW's approach to the American market for whatever reason. They can blame it on poor sales and market share, but the companies who have the greatest market share also put in the effort to get there. For example: Toyota and Honda didnt just open assembly plants here, but also design studios to tailor certain models to North American needs and wants. VW never did that afaik.

No diesel in the U.S. The emissions cheating scandal around 2014 or so pretty much killed VW in North America, that's why we get less than half of what VW produces or produced recently. No Scirocco, (unless it's 80's-90's) no T-roc, no Up, no Amarok, no Polo. As of 2024 we only have the GTI/Golf R (no normal Golf) and leftover Passat/Arteon models from 2022. That's it besides their ID electric nonsense. We still have a wide range of Audi/Porsche models, but normal VW is pretty much done here.

This car is just not selling. Everyone and their dog knows the 2020 is a new body design. VW desperately should’ve upgraded the infotainment center like the Jetta. I also havent seen an 19 SE R-Line come thru my store. SMH
