Great video & thanks! just got a new X2 se in backcountry blue, have about 250+ miles on it so far. I'm 6.0 and 230 getting in & out is not bad. Once your in the ride is smooth & quiet. I did remove the rear sway bar & went down 2 rounds on all 4 springs & softened up re-bound & compression 5 clicks on all the shocks, dropped the air press. to 13 lbs. it made it much better for the type of somewhat high speed trail riding the wife & I run. I say take one for a test ride if you can. We ride with all brands & types 1000 turbos etc. in our club & keep up with no problems up to 50+, stayed with Yamaha cause they are dependable & rock solid. Long time owner of Yamaha machines. Oh and i did recently tow in a polaris 900 with 2,100 miles on it with a blown belt. Just sayin'...

I presently own a Honda Pioneer 500 ( 50" wide machine) When I saw this new machine from Yamaha, I knew I wanted one immediately. So I started looking at the reviews, and of course they're all glowing, but several reviewers noted, as you did- and glossed over very quickly- that getting into it is somewhat annoying with that shoulder bolster, and that it was a little tight width-wise for us 'ahem' bigger guys. I finally made it to the dealer to look at one. **Keep in mind, I'm comparing it size-wise to my P-500.** First thing I see, is that it is huge, and I was completely shocked at how much bigger it is than the P-500- especially when it's being touted as a "nimble" trail machine, so that kinda shook me a bit, but still wanted it, cuz in my mind, I already bought it.... till I sat in it. My left arm was completely outside the cage, and if you ride tight trails, or make them, you know how bad that could be, and that stupid bolster was totally dug into the back of my arm.... The center console eats up so much interior width, that the seats are pushed out too far. I seriously have way,way,way more room in my P-500(seat-wise anyways, cuz it has no storage space whatsoever) Even my wife said something before I could admit that this isn't going to work for me- she was cramped too. I can't tell you how disappointed I am..... Please Yamaha, make the console narrower!!! I guess I'm stuck with my Honda for a while :(

Pretty much every ATV/UTV is made with China-built components, regardless of where they're assembled. Certainly the engineering makes a difference. Take a look at the quality of components on a Japanese motorcycle from the 70s or 80s and compare it to the new ones -- it's like night and day. Cost has driven down the quality.
@TheVenom83436 жыл бұрын
guy strom, you might want to do a little research on CF Moto before you start spewing nonsense. I have beat on my ZForce 1000 like a red headed step child and it is still asking for more.
@clydejohnson42515 жыл бұрын
@guy proulx Being a previous general manager of a CFMOTO Dealership along with several other brands if what your saying is true than that is ridiculous. We sold roughly 50 units in the 3 years I was working for the dealer an never seen one with blown engine at low milage. I did see one guy have issues with the rocker arms failing however his machine was 3 years old had over 4k miles an the intake was nasty. Other than that I seen very few serious issues an if any of did have problems while under warranty we repaired them in a timely manner and got the customer riding again. My Ant an uncle has a 17 Zforce 800ex, they have went to West Virginia an Kentucky every chance they get. Only thing they've done besides changing fluids an filters is brake pads an a belt. So I would have to strongly disagree with your statement

Awesome reviews, also I hope the manufacturers are watching, because you make a lot of good points. Yamaha I'm sure will fix the seatbelt issue they are usually quick to recall issues. With the park brake comment I agree and I hate that Yamaha didn't put a park brake on my grizzly, hearing it clunk when parking on a hill makes me cringe, but its 6 years old and has never been back to the dealer, so can't really complain.

Good review. I sat in one and I am 5’10” and pretty slim. I found myself trying to slide the seat back and it was already back. Also with the middle console I found it kind of cramped. It’s not terrible or anything but if I’m spending that much I want to be comfortable. Also don’t like the top speed. I was exited when I heard they were putting the twin engine in this but it’s top speed is still the same. I understand that it’s a sport utility but Yamaha always seems to hold back from what the competition is offering. Too bad. I can have the reliability of Yamaha and low performance or the high performance of the competition and spend time fixing them. I will have to ponder that.

Good and meticulous review. Well done. Yamaha usually stands for good and well made products. I wasn´t to impressed looking under the bonnet, with such an offroad going creature, i surely expects eletrical systems better covered and protected. Also whatever side by side i´m looking at, most of them cost like a small car, but you dont get that feeling quality or effort put in to it, looking at the final product.
@sideskraft5 жыл бұрын
That's because the car companies have thousands of engineers and sell millions of vehicles, whereas these UTV companies have far less engineers working on those machines and they sell a few thousand of them. The car companies have a team of 50 engineers working on a suspension system, the UTV company has maybe 5 people on their suspension. It's all about economies of scale -- big volume means big money and superior fit and finish.

It is a quality built Yamaha and a huge upgrade from the Rhino. Like most SxS's, it lacks driving experience for the driver. It seems to cater to people who have never driven or too lazy to drive. It has plenty of power and is not as loud , but seems designed for safety and for people who don't do their own maintenance and are uncomfortable shifting gears. For a work vehicle, I prefer my 2019 Hijet because of precision and simplicity besides payload and it's quiet, with AC/heat.

For some people that may be fine but for others it's nowhere near enough. And this type of utility machine with more power and more speed I think would be a big seller. But so far no manufacturer seems to get it.

There are some states like mine, South Dakota, that are SxS/ATV friendly, which are allowed to be driven on the roads. I don't have to trailer my SxS to the trailhead, I go from my driveway to the trailhead direct, which requires me to go at highway speeds, which has speed limits of 65 MPH. To keep up with traffic, I also need to be able to go the speed limit. It's not about going 65MPH on the trail. I'm also on Search and Rescue and our Can Ams and Polaris' both do 65 MPH, allowing us to respond to calls in our SxS' without having to trailer them. The 52 MPH speed limiter makes Yamaha less appealing for a response vehicle even though it's a superior off road vehicle in my opinion.
@ROTAXD6 жыл бұрын
Why would you even consider doing a speed run in 4wd ? On that road, wheelspeed would be a non issue in 2wd and 4wd bith increased your time to speed and decreased your actual top speed.
@TFLoffroad6 жыл бұрын
I did a few runs in two-wheel drive, and the spin off the line was excessive. With more foot control, I'm sure you're probably right that 2WD would be a bit faster to top speed. But it was simpler to just punch it in 4WD and feel all four tires bite. And the top speed is not affected at all because it is electronically limited. So no difference between 2WD and 4WD.
