Having this sort of relationship with animals is very very calming and cathartic. I live in Melb Australia, but out in the Dandenong Ranges where you get all the exotic birds and kookaburras etc. Pretty regularly I get a family of ten or so kookaburras come to visit who I feed and a very tame, along with some very friendly magpies who come and warble to be fed. It's really comforting to come home from work and have a little magpie face waiting while I open the car door to get out.

You bet. And saving ones life even better. I have a squirrel mom i have been hand feeding for 3 years now. She has the worst luck every year with her nests. Ravens got one and one of her babies. Then racoons tore apart one. Then her tree was cut down. Her newest nest this year did not withstand a very bad few days of weather, we had Unusual weather. hail, snow, rain, and terrible wind. We noticed a few weeks ago now that she was trying to get some of her 6 babies to get into a birdhouse. They were too young yet and not strong enough to climb the wet slippery fences. Then the ravens showed up and we had to go and check. Found 2 of her babies laying on the ground and appeared to be dead. Mom showed up and went and started licking the one baby. We thought maybe it was goodbye. Then after she moved away i went and had a closer look and noticed one arm seemed to move just a tiny bit. No signs of even breathing. So we picked up the 2 wet and cold limp babes and took them into the house and rubbed them down with warm towels. Sadly the one was already gone. We placed the other on a heated wheat bag and kept rubbing and blowing air into his face. We got more slow movements and a couple of weak peeps. So we place him in our old rabbit cage all bundled. He slowly came around and 6 hours later he was screaming down the house. We were going to keep him in over night because mom still had the other 4 to look after. But he was making such a racket. So we put the cage in the open door and called mom over for a peanut, and when they saw it other it was the best feeling. They made the cutest purring noises. He is still around playing out back and doing well 3 weeks later. Every time i see little peep my heart is happy.

@chrisgreen177

The buckets have water in them. Raccoons are known for "Washing" their food in water before or as they're eating it. I was with my day, and we were catching catfish. We had caught three so far and strung them up on a stringer and put them in the water. We left to gather more firewood, and when we came back, a raccoon had pulled the stringer of catfish out of the water, pulled the catfish off the stringer and had them lined up on the bank. They had the smallest of the catfish in the water "washing" it as it feasted upon it. We gave it that one, but took the other two bigger ones. My dad said, "Oh well, it's a compromise." I lost him June 20, 2020, and that is one of thousands of memories I had with my pops.

The Raccoon Whisperer knows and understands how the little fellas surrounding him behave. I already identified three raccoons that may would actually protect him from others. Question to you, have you ever provided food to the hungry raccoons from your back patio like this? If so, please do share. Would love to hear about it.

I’m in California, and my guys didn’t appear to recognize meat as food when offered! 😂 I called them my vegan CA raccoons, on a special diet, of course. Thank you so much, Sir, for this! What a wonderful palate cleanser for life! Take good care and stay healthy and safe, and keep enjoying your furry friends!

God Bless you James! I had raised two back in the late 80's and early 90's. Rocky and Josette. They lived in the house with us for about twenty years. Rocky was 19 and Josette was 18 years old. When they passed it was like loosing one of my kids! Hardest thing I've ever been through. They where rescues. Then I found Hermione along the road. She had been hit by a car. I took her to the vets. She patched her up and she lived with me for 17 years. In 2004 I found 3 babies in my back yard. They had been abandoned by there mother. I took them in and had to bottle feed them for a while. Adam, Sissy and April. They lived with me for about a year. At that point they wanted outside. They still come around now and then. I give then hot dogs as well as cookies and peanut and jelly sandwiches. They have a special place in my heart... Love your videos... Robert.

Heather Michonsski nothing wrong with keeping it as a pet as long as you take care of it and don't snatch wild animals from Mom to raise. Otherwise I see nothing wrong. Alot of wild animals loose or are not taught essential survival skills a mom would teach when raised in wild

I was so delighted to see this video! When I was a teenager living at home (in Tacoma, WA) with my parents, one night I saw some eyeballs, shiny eyeballs, coming through the sliding glass door where our deck was. Then I saw very many shining eyes when I realized it was raccoons, a whole family. They literally lined up from biggest to smallest. My mom got apples out of the refrigerator and got to hand them each one. Each of them politely took their apple and went away. They never came back again and I was disappointed about that. But then the squirrels in the backyard that I was feeding peanuts to started jumping in my lap one day...It scared me so bad at first because I thought they must have rabies 😹. But my mom rescued me with a bag of peanuts and they began taking them from my hand and stuffing them in their little cheeks. The whole time we lived in that neighborhood I would go out and feed the squirrels that jumped in my lap every afternoon. I’m always thinking about those raccoons and squirrels to this day. That’s why it was such a Blessing for me to see your video. Thank you so much for sharing it and God bless you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ravYfWR7ftOifqc I added a pic of one of the squirrels, if you’d like to see. 😸
