The only thing that I disagree with is the auto stop/start feature which only helps in using less fuel. That feature requires heavy changes and a starter motor that can handle the extra uses.

As to your misses: Poor fuel economy - if you can afford an $80K car who cares. and start-stop sucks. Conservative interior - A nice place to be. The leather and wood is old school but so are most of the buyers of this car. No digital dash - bingo. I agree 100%. The car needs a fully, configurable instrument cluster. No Panoramic sunroof - I agree there too. No masaging seats - again I agree with you 100%. By the way I had a 2017 G90 5.0 AWD and traded it for a 2020 G90 5.0 AWD so I have quite a bit of real seat time in a G90. I do agree with all your "hits". Quiet and I love the exterior styling. Mine in Unyni White with the Beige/Havana interior. I have been asked, more than once if this was a Bentley! It is a fantastic bargain! I've had two now and I don't regret it one bit.

I appreciate you leaving this detailed comment! Indeed. I totally agree with you. Regarding "Miss #4 & #5", you're absolutely correct. That's mainly why I ranked those two in the #4 & #5 spots (not the #1 & #2 spots)... Mainly because I felt like those minor gripes were worth mentioning, but not necessarily detrimental. 👍🏼 Also, awesome! 🙌🏽 I always enjoyed the G90 ever since it first came out a few years ago, but WOW!! I absolutely love the robust revitalization that Genesis implemented for this mid-cycle refresh. You made a great choice for sure! Wishing you all the best with your glorious G90. By the way, that's definitely one of the color combos I would go for... The lighter interiors look absolutely stunning inside the G90, and the brighter exterior colors (like Unyni White and Gold Coast Silver) really help complement the bold chrome exterior design cues. During my extended period of testing, I also had many locals asking me what car this car was. Haha! 😅 One person actually flagged me down at a red light to ask me what it was!! @msticks - Seeing as to you went from a 2017 to 2020 G90, speaks to how much you enjoy the G90 and the bang for your buck. The only thing I don’t agree with as far as your comment is, “if you can afford an $80k car who cares”. This logic negates your last comment of “It is a fantastic bargain” which would insinuate that money spent needs to be logical and not wasted. Fuel economy is important to many consumers. I can afford this vehicle, and its mpg would drop this lower in a list of cars that I would consider purchasing. To each his own. It’s always nice to have choices.

Update: Hey Marcus thanks for your response. My 2017 G80 5.0 has been an amazing car. NO cost to own for 3 years (equals the term of my lease). My wife has a beautiful black G70 Sport. FAST & gets many comments. Just a little smaller than my preference. Keep up your great work; enjoy your reviews!

Good eye! 👌🏽 Both of those missing elements would definitely make the G90 even better. A/C vents always seem more functional when they're mounted higher within a vehicle's cabin, and yes! I find it rather odd that the G80 has illumination for the door sill panels, but not the G90... Hopefully, Genesis considers this for future model years. Wow, wow, wow, what a luxury sedan. I do love that exterior color, and just imagine how gorgeous it would look with that havana brown interior. I was thinking the same thing about the sunroof, a car like that should have an all glass roof, the rims I do love the size, but I think they could have made a better looking design. I could totally see myself in a Genesis brand vehicle in the near future, as soon as they come out with a compact luxury crossover or something that is electric, I am all in. I love the rear turn signals and all of the LED lights. I am surprised you didn't keep with your trend of matching shoes to the car color, I know you have a pair of burgundy color shoes Marcus, come on now. Also the paint finish was so shiny like a mirror that I could see the back of you through the reflection, lol.

@@dubzftw4821 I just don't like light color interiors mainly because they get dirty easily and you have to keep up with keeping the light leather clean, they stain easily from the dyes in jeans, etc. So I prefer darker interiors, and never had any issues with the seats looking dirty or getting stained from jeans. Never had a burgundy colored car before, but when it is dark like that it almost looks black, at night it would probably look black.

@carbuff81 Indeed! The G90 sure is a marvelous luxury sedan (at an incredible price). I like the exterior color too! At first, I wished I got the silver or white color because they tend to photograph better, but the burgundy shade has definitely proved me wrong. It's absolutely stunning in person! Locals literally stopped me to ask what I was driving. 😂 Same here. I wish Genesis gave me that gorgeous Havana Brown interior. I would've been absolutely floored!!! 🤩🤩🤩 Also, yes... Too bad Genesis doesn't offer a panoramic sunroof, but at least the rims are a perfect size. I personally think the rims have a VERY tasteful and classy multi-spoke layout! Definitely unique, which is what I believe Genesis needs in order to stand out! Honestly, I can totally see myself in a Genesis vehicle someday in the future, too! I think a gently-used GV70 or even a G70 would be a nice upgrade from my Veloster! What do you think?? 😅 Also, I 100% agree! The exterior lighting features on the new G90 (especially the bold amber turn indicator on both the front and rear) look ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! It's hard to believe that this is just a mid-cycle refresh. Upon a quick glance at the exterior, it seems like an almost ALL-NEW model. Sorry for breaking the matching shoe trend, Anthony!!!! At least I had hints of burgundy in my pants to match the exterior paint color. As you saw in my Instagram teasers, I am wearing a different outfit in my full in-depth review (all burgundy outfit with camouflage pants). Can't wait to release that video soon!!! They definitely look glorious on the Genesis website, and I am sure they look even more stunning in person. I am sure Genesis will offer a panoramic sunroof on the G90 soon. Maybe for the next generation, since this platform has already been constructed to not accommodate a panoramic sunroof, most likely. Nevertheless, the G90 is definitely a pretty solid value in the full-size luxury sedan segment. I'm totally digging the new exterior styling and the mild interior tweaks. I purchased a G90 in 2017 traded it for a new one in 2022 and planning to purchase a 2025 as soon as they are available, my only regret is that they dropped the 5.0 and went to the turbo 6 and premium fuel.

Nice presentation review here. After extensive research in the used car market, the Genesis G90 is at the top of my used car buying list. I was looking for reliability, value & future costs into my main objectives for consideration. I would like something nice looking, luxurious, yet practical value. I had the newer 2017-2022 Lincoln Continentals under consideration at first, but come to find out it's not a reliable car & got many complaints in Consumer Reports. I seen the same trend on various comments all over the internet regarding the Continentals as well sadly. It's a beautiful car I had to take off my list. Cadillacs was off my list because of the same horrible reliability issues & problems they have. Off my list was all European made vehicles due to future ownership costs. If I was to consider European I was looking at the Volvo S90, Audi A8, and BWM 7 Series, ALL that were out of my budget and got low marks on the reliability scale on Consumer Reports & all vehicles that has a lot of complaints in future maintenance costs. 2nd on my used car buyer list it came down to the Toyota Avalon which looks nice and got supurb ratings in all regards & reliability. The only negative on the Avalon was getting in & out of it, for a taller person it's easy to bang your head getting into it as it sits too low to the ground. Otherwise it's a great car over all it's luxurious & reliable. I liked the Lexus ES350 but there is so many of them on the streets and I've seen so many of them they bore me. Comfortable car though & also luxurious, but the Avalon has it beat in looks & style imo because you don't see as many Avalons on the road. But, after all this research I have done, the Genesis G90 is #1 choice & seems to be more of what I need and want in size, it's roomy and has the best luxurious features for a car in the price range I can afford in the used car buyer's market. The Genesis G90 also got the highest Consumer Reports ratings for reliability and scored the highest rating in ownership rebuy. And I haven't seen much of any complaints on all of the internet regarding the Genesis G90s either. Parts are very reasonably affordable & easy to get for future maintenance costs as well.

Great Observations and recommendations. The sale of these full size luxury flagships have been on the decline in the U.S market. As result, many of those mentioned features may very well be available in Korea or China where these sell much better. To be honest, I am surprised that this car and the Kia K900 are still for sale in the U.S. market.

I totally agree with your standpoint. Full-size luxury sedans have definitely been seeing a decline here in the U.S. market. Thus, some of the "misses" that I mentioned might be rectified in Korean or Chinese markets... So, that's definitely quite understandable! Great video man. Now about the car itself, I knew it was lacking but you get what you pay for. That said it's a good value play, long as one is not under any delusion of equaling a German car of this size. It's also good to see more colors added inside and out. The best part is that there is a new G90 coming that I'm sure will bring this car up to date.

Yes. But, not necessarily... At this same price range, you'll be getting very barebone-specced competitors. A G90 versus a comparably equipped German competitor is up to $10k more affordable on average. If you're looking at more modestly specced full-size luxury sedans, the G90 is undeniably an excellent value. But, of course, if you're willing to splurge for a higher-end model, the G90 begins to trail behind (once again due to its feature cap). But, by no means (in my opinion) does that affect value in general. I truly appreciate you sharing your opinion! It's always fun to hear what others think. ​@@DriveAndBeDriven You pay for less and get less, doesn't matter how you try to spin it. You can't even get the same things on a G90 that you can on a S-Class or 7-Series or A8. You pay less, you get less. Period. No spin needed. Yeah it's a value because it's cheap, just because something is cheap doesn't mean it's a value. The G90 doesn't trail behind higher end models, it is demolished and outdated at that point. Value means you're getting a comparable car for less, you aren't here.

I totally see where you're coming from. We shall wait and see what Genesis does for the next-gen G90. Hopefully, they make it more advanced and comparable to it's competition from other automakers (without cornercutting). With all that said, I think the current G90, the latest G80, and new GV80 are all good strides in the right direction. If the G80 and GV80 are any indicators, I'm curious to see a completely overhauled G90. Especially with increasingly tough competition from Mercedes and others. I like analog gauges in luxury vehicles. Digital is too busy at times. There’s screens everywhere in my life, it’s nice to de screen. But I agree that it would be nice to see an even more luxurious choice maybe change the clock to a Grand Seiko.

If I’m honest I really don’t like the design of this car. To me, it looks like a car for an older person, no offense to anyone. Also, the design reminds me of a funeral car and I also dislike this color ( of course that can be changed). But the Gold Coast definitely looks good BUT I like that the screen is touch screen that’s definitely a nice feature You did justice to this car because your brought a 100% factual and informative video on all the features so as always keep it up Marcus 💯 And to the Genesis people it was a miss for me 😂

Julian, I totally hear where you're coming from. You're not offending me, Genesis, or anyone who likes this car. We all have our own opinions! :) I personally like the design of the G90, but as I said, I just wish Genesis gave me a slightly different color combo. I think you would've much rather preferred a model with a brighter exterior and interior color... The dark burgundy paint color on the exterior, and the equally as dark interior, definitely makes my particular test vehicle appear a bit on the "gloomy" side. Hence why you feel like it's a bit funeral-like (plus the G90 is SUPER long similar to a hearse)... So, understandable! LOL All jokes aside, I seriously can't fault a car for just its color... Especially since, once again, it comes down to personal taste (but at least Genesis offers other color combos/specs). Furthermore, I agree. The updated infotainment screen is a much-appreciated feature. Honestly, I feel like I have sooo much more control, now that I can physically tap on the areas within the screen. I am happy to hear that I did this car justice and could provide you an honest and 100% factual review. Don't worry! There are three other Genesis models available (the G70, the G80, and the GV80 SUV). If this model doesn't look familiar to you, your uncle probably has the smaller G70 or G80. @@DriveAndBeDriven I recently bought a 2017 G90 5.0 in Manhattan Brown and Cream. It took me almost TWO YEARS to find one at Carmax! As a classic Mercedes collector in my youth, I always liked the brown with tan leather cars of the 1960's and now I have a Genesis just like them. The best thing about the G90 for me, besides its great appearance, is the price, new and used, compared to any comparable European luxury sedan. According to my research, we are very lucky here in America because a new G90 purchased in Korea or Europe will cost you at least $100K today. I guess that Genesis is trying really hard to penetrate the US luxury car market.

I have yet to test out that spec, but if it is anything like this peppy Twin-Turbo V6, you're surely in for a treat on some empty roads! @@DriveAndBeDriven My car is RWD which is OK for driving in south Florida. I would have liked the AWD for driving in a thunder storm, but I very rarely even drive my cars when there is just a little bit of rain since I do not like having to wash the car too often. Just finding a low mileage black or brown 2017 G90 with the beige leather interior was an accomplishment in itself! Strangely, Genesis made very few G90's in brown even though several of their cars at the big international auto shows are brown.

AWD is honestly not necessary here in South Florida, unless you enjoy your car feeling a bit more 'limitless' during heavier rain / slick roads. Also, yes! I don't blame you. 😂👍🏼 If you can wait out the storm, there's no need to drive in the rain. The result will be a beautiful dirty sedan (and as a secondary result, you'll have the increased urge to clean it immediately). 😅 Regarding the G90 at international auto shows, you bring up a really good point! Genesis seemed to advertise that particular brown/creme spec quite a bit, but also seemed to have low production numbers. I guess it was mainly due to demand... Most 2017-2019 G90s had a black interior with most likely a more common exterior color like black/white/silver. Thankfully, as I mentioned in my "hits", Genesis has rectified this for 2020/2021 by offering two new exterior colors and two new interior colors. All in all, this should allow for not only more customization for new buyers, but also (theoretically) more options for pre-owned buyers in the upcoming years. Once u get a V8 U PAY THE PRICE, that cylinder deactivation shit can go wrong. I like a plane simple long lasting v8, No air suspension either, I've seen Benz's after that stuff DEFLATES

This whole video is a “ Miss”. First of all this gentleman is addressing people who are willing to spend 80 to 100 K on their vehicles and he starts off the whole video about fuel economy? wow, 25 miles per gallon versus 27 or 28 miles per gallon is really gonna make a big difference? ? I really appreciate the effort of the people who made this video including the gentleman who is actually in the video. However next time I think it’ll be better if they do a reality check of the content that they are putting inside the video So at least it’s relevant. Thanks

People interested in this vehicle may not value fuel efficiency too much (especially if the G90's efficiency is short of its competitors by 2-3mpgs).
