Ever since I went from my R3 to my MT09 I wanted a bike with the 09s power but in the 'semi sport' package of the R3. This looks like exactly what I had in mind. My only potential issue is I'm not sure I trust the reliability of Aprilia. But I'm definitely willing to give the bike a look.

@Bernd DasBrot when you apply torque over time it is called power. Power = torque * rews. Four cylinder engine can reliably rew higher than engine with fewer cylinders. You use gearing to get the peak engine power down to the ground at any speed.
4 жыл бұрын
@Bernd DasBrot what kind of machines are we comparing? Different displacement? Weight? Geometry? What kind of street riding? Highway? Tight twisties? Fast flowing turns? How about speed limits? Same displacement engines with different cylinder numbers make roughly the same torque. But it is just a fact that a twin with the same displacement cannot be reliably tuned for as much power as 3 or 4 cylinder engines. Therefore they have allowed larger displacement twins to be raced against smaller four cylinder bikes because otherwise fewer cylinder engines just wouldn't stand a chance.

I wanted this bike. But with the delay, I got a GSXR 750. I’ve had two CBR600s, an R1 and now the 750. Loved them all for different reasons. Am I correct that this bike is less performance than my CBR600s? My GSXR is more than I’ll ever need, just as my R1 was. For me it’s not about the overall top speed, but a combination of looks, performance and how I feel (fit) on the bike. My question is “with over two decades of riding experience and skills to match the typical track day super star, will I be underwhelmed by this lower performing bike? I mean, how much slower is it than a CBR600?” That’s what I’m wondering. I prefer to ride safe and sane most of the time... but not all the time. And as I age, I am thinking about how a more upright riding position would be better for longer rides. Aging sucks but biking keeps us young.

I thought it had the same timing as Aprilia's 60° v-twin. 300-420

@ Would have been interesting, possibly a missed opportunity now their MotoGP machine is effectively two such 300° twins. Alas, they confirmed it was 270° a while back; there was a look at the internals in an Italian magazine, too. Makes sense as 270° requires minimal additional balance mass and minimises inertial torque.

Now it needs an R, factory or even an SP model!

Is this the year of the parallel twin? 🤔

nah already in 2013 the italogerman husky nuda900 lead the way with a crossplane p-twin.....as a matter of fact yam, ktm and ape are just late to the party!
@identiticrisis4 жыл бұрын
@@markthoms304 It was 315°, not at all crossplane. Yamaha actually made a 270° twin before they decided on the crossplane crank for their M1 MotoGP machine. And they did so for the same reasons. The Nuda does not follow that same philosophy at all, it is no improvement over a 360° or 180° twin in terms of what Yamaha wanted to achieve. So it is not a crossplane engine, insofar as Yamaha use the term. Then again, neither is the CP3 / MT09 engine, but eh...

How about the Ducati Supersport as a competitor? It's more expensive and doesn't have the electronics (but then no bikes in this sector have such a suite of electronics yet) but the ethos seems similar?

Beautiful looking bike, in a class of its own really. Cannot justify changing my brand new CBR650R though and Honda reliability is brilliant. Will be skipping this one as for 10k I will be picking up a 2017-2019 Fireblade but beautiful bike nonetheless

Why didn’t they make the DRLs as the turn signal instead of just a tiny sliver of it at the end 5:04? Think it’s possible to code it?

Absolutely love the whole concept of this... nice and light, plus 100hp is absolutely perfect for the road. I might get the Tuono variant, when it arrives. I'm wondering if Aprilia will be able to shake their bad reputation for reliability though, coming from a Honda that would be my main concern.
@wradford14 жыл бұрын
I've got got an 07 Tuono with nearly 100k km's on and only replaced a stator. Also have a 17 Tuono with over 20k km's and no problems. Don't worry Aprilia's have a good reliability record.

does anyone know if a company will make more aggressive clip ons(like supersport type aggressive)? Or where/when I would be able to find that out?

perfect timing. i was looking to get a cbr650r because i thought it was the only bike similar to something like this (excluding the ninja 650 and sv650). the aprilia would be way better. pricy im sure tho
