i think all your "issues" are correct. but for an open minded people. minimal issues you just have to be a grown man and deal with it cold start, jerky quick shift and "heavy bike" are "very weak" issues for me. and not having enough aftermarket parts is very normal for a new bike in the market. just have to wait and research more on what is out there. i live in the philippines and already we have aftermarket parts, also sliders available here, even custom exhaust and ecu reflash available. but i respect your decision maybe your standards are a little bit higher. but i just want to say small issues like the ones you pointed out must not be a deal breaker for people who are planning to buy this bike. good luck and ride safe always.

I own a F900R since a May this year and I have to admit that I also started to look for alternatives. The cold start happens very occasionally but is not bothering me too much. What does bother me is the clunky quick shifter. I agree with you that this should not only be a tool for high performance and this disappointed me a lot. Other than that the F900R is a very comfortable bike. Finding this level of comfort on another naked bike will be challenging. I absolutely like things such as the TFT dash, centre stand, cruise control and heated hand grips. However, the lack of engine excitement and the poor quick shifter do not make me fall in love with it like I wished for...

My 22 Yamaha T9gt occasionally takes a couple stabs of the button when cold....I honestly thought it was proably normal. Since I am older most of the bikes owned back in the day were kick start and some of them had such glaring start issues that in comparison to having to push a button twice? lol it is not even worth a sigh! I'm not kidding you especially with large singles but someone true of many configurations one would have to follow an exact several step procedure to start a motorcycle way back when. ...Like rotating to be just right with compression stroke then mayybe holding the throttle absolutely closed,,,maybe choke maybe 1/2 or maybe none depending on ambient temp and the model ...and then on even older bikes it was even worse! Like having to literally flood the carb float bowl(s) with a special "tickler" plunger that pushed the float down...everything had to be perfect to start a lot of models so today's bike sometimes have to push a BUTON two times?? with ZERO other procedute not even a petcock or choke? Dont make me laugh
@dougchaney60632 жыл бұрын
Incidenly probably a lot of cars today would take multiple stabs of the button except they have a digital relay system where you push the button and it latches in cranking until the computer sees the motor is running and then it unlatches...which a cool little feature gimmick having only to barely touch the button one time ....does it really matter though? I guess if one is super anal it might idk

Mate the shifter is one of the best on the market, you just use it with 30% throttle or like a dick I’m sorry.. if you use it in a sporty way, it works far better than the rest on the market ( for the same kind of bike of course)

Sorry your experience with 900R proved disappointing in the end.....I’ve enjoyed my 2500miles in the last few months; great handling (easy to regularly get over 40% lean angles) and surprising acceleration, especially with quick shifter! Never had starting problems and once I trained myself not to accidentally even slightly to reduce throttle opening on up changes and remember to completely keep throttle closed on down changes, I find the quick shifter works perfectly well; much better than with my experiences with quick-shifter on KTM 790....... maybe you just had a rogue sample; surprised the dealer couldn’t solve it.....

Finally, I bought this bike even though I read many reviews on the net (including this one) I decided buy this bike. The heart just won out. I have almost 3k km and I am absolutely satisfied. This bike is for me as a calm but bit sporty rider perfectly fit. But thrue is that quick shifter from 1 to 3 gear really choppy. I still try to learn how to work with that. I initially took quite an interest in BMW when they dropped the release of the F900 bikes. Then I looked at the specs. Then I walked away. I'm not sure what BMW was thinking to compete with. Weight is more akin to a 1000cc naked inline-4 bike, but it's a vertical twin without much power to compare. It has a smallish fuel capacity, so range isn't that impressive. I'm sure there are some strengths that it offers but too many glaring undesirable features when comparing to the general 750-950cc market this is playing in.
@PetroHead3 жыл бұрын
I bought it cuz I wanted an upright.. what sold it for me was the screen, the electronics, the CC and the heated grips.. there was no other bike at the time that had all this.. then I discovered the Striple which was miles better.. but just didn’t have CC and heated grips (as standard) but after riding it, I got rid of the F900R.. It’s a cool looking bike though.. give it that at least 👍

Pretty much all bikes come super lean these days from the factory for emissions. This is across the board top to bottom all lines of street legal motorcycles. Honda is generally synonymous with flawless build quality, but even our 2020 Honda 450L enduro bikes had "flame out" issues due to running lean. Basically they needed their idles raised, maybe you can try that on your bike. Literally a 2 second fix raising the idle 200rpm from the factory solved this forever. The bike would literally dying on you while cold and pulling the clutch in coming to a stop light or stop sign, very dangerous and annoying.

@@PetroHead ok, I can agree with that, but whatever sound a well engineered ICE makes to fulfill it's purpose is fine. It's pretty dumb for engineers of motorcycles to design for sounds. I am sure an Android app can be connected to your tach to make whatever sound you like 🤔
@PetroHead2 жыл бұрын
You don’t sound like a rider.. as a rider, the sound is what makes it really exciting. I mean even when I listen to motorbike sounds on YT videos, I love it.. nothing replaces the feelings you get behind the wheel.
@chadkline42682 жыл бұрын
@@PetroHead when I listen to an engine, I only listen to ensure everything is tuned properly. When I eat, I only care to eat what is necessary. I don't care how things taste really. If I need a coat, I care that it is functional, regardless of color. And when I ride, I only care that everything is performing well. I have too many concerns to bother with how sensually satisfying a bike sounds. If someone eats for taste, or buys a coat because of the color, they may well suffer for it. And if someone rides for sound, likewise. The only time sound is noticed by a rider to any sensually relevant extent is when stopped. I'd guess that people that enjoy the sound of a bike are those that enjoy revving their engines up to impress others, even though 99% of the people on a street don't care to hear it. Not because a rider really finds value in it themselves. Any song gets boring if you listen to it enough. It's really not possible to enjoy a particular sound for long, a repetitive sound. Certainly not as long as a motorcycle ordinarily lasts.
