(2020) Bose QC35 Pairing with Windows 10 PC (Audio Out + Microphone) - UPDATED Short Tutorial

Updated demonstration in 2020 vs. my last video in 2017 on how to pair the Bose QC 35 Noise Cancelling Headphones to your PC for both the Audio Out as well as Microphone!

IMPORTANT: you need to hold the switch on the headphones to the right for a few seconds (pairing mode) for the computer to recognize them as headphones. At least after multiple attempts this is the only way it worked for me.

Thank you! The long holding for the bluelight to turn on did the trick to let my PC see it as an audio source VS a random bluetooth device

This was super helpful, the long hold to put it in pairing mode was the trick. Then I discovered the "audio" vs "other device options. I had to make sure to choose "audio" then it worked otherwise it wouldn't have connected.

Am I the only one who have BIG problem with these? When I use the headphone to speak to someone (on discord, zoom, facetime, etc.) I have the worst sound quality., I suddenly hear every little sound of my environnement (super loud backgroud sounds) that I normally dont hear I'f im not using the microphone. Help? And thanks for the video by the way, super well done and easy to fallow.

I face the same issue when using the headphones on my Android phone for Zoom. Everyone complains of background noise. Hence I have resorted to using my airpods which work fine.....

It does connect for audio, did even the settings to use the mic of the qc 35 and it still doesn't work. When I try the test it doesn't get any input from the mic at all. Am I missing something here?

OMG that was so helpful! I had it working before, and for some reason it fell off, and would be connected, but it wouldn't play into my headphones. When you clicked on the bottom right corner to check, it had different settings for how the headphones were going to be used, and I found that I was on speaker mode for it! HAH! Thank you so much!

I was wondering what the latency is like on this? I need to get an adaptor since I don't have built in bluetooth, I use my bose for gaming since the audio quality is incredible. When I use the bluetooth with my phone and play games, there's a noticeable delay. I play pretty competitively and audio is very important. Are you actually able to game with the headset on bluetooth?

as simple as that use the hardware button to pair it up. I struggled to understand why its paired but not connected, but just used the pairing button on headphones and it worked... Thanks.

I can get mine to work but the audio drops every second or so. I bought a new PC (as an upgrade I'm not totally insane) and used the Bose update software but it hasn't changed anything, it used to work perfectly. I tried switching to a Bluetooth card instead of dongle, same issue. I've also bought a new motherboard, CPU and RAM since the issue started. Is this a common issue with the headphones? I wish Bose would release a proprietary dongle TBH and I'm not a fan of proprietary things. I've googled so much I gave up. If anyone can help me you would be my new favourite person ever. I've tried every help page I can find. alongside this issue I found wired mousse stopped working with my PC. Old PC and new. The power supply, motherboard and ram/cpu are all new....???

Are you satisfied with quality when profiles switched into voice (for call etc.), there is huge drop of quality... when is mic in use the quality of sound is too low on windows 10, did you solve this?

Bruh, I couldn't get any sound out of my computer while having the mic, and after 1 hour, i just unplugged the wire and plugged it back and it worked

Thanks so much I followed the instructions and for some reason my laptop creates two audio devices to choose from: Stereo and Handsfree AG audio. The stereo has much better quality but the sound kept getting interrupted. Not sure how to solve that problem.

I have a question, can you please tell me, why I can't notice any difference of volume when choosing the headphone, its either mute or playing on a fixed volume till 100%, but when I am selecting Headset Hands free ag as output it changes volume but the sound quality is horrible...

Strange, have you tried pressing the volume buttons on the right ear cup to check if that does anything?

@@shahrukhsid30 Oh thats strange, when I am pressing those volume buttons on the headphone its changing the sound but system volume bar is not changing, but the system volume control has no effect on it.. When I connect the same headphone on my iphone/android, I can control the volume from phone.

@@pcmobitab yeah I think it varies by driver (not exactly sure), think the headphone volume buttons are an incremental volume adjustment on top of system volume on pc

I struggled for days to get my headset to pair correctly with my pc, i solved the issue by NOT installing the drivers for my usb dongle /Asus usb-bt400) via the cd you get when you buy the dongle! Crazy that that was the problem lol

Nope you just need to do this once. Have you tried increasing the volume on the headset itself with the volume buttons on the headset?

Mine problem is weird. When I’m connecting through Bluetooth it is being connected as audio but connected as voice. Im able to use it as mic but i cannot hear music in my headphones

That is why when you connect to the mic changes the Bluetooth profile to Hands free, thus is a lower quality and shows you in windows as another pair of headphones. What you should do. Buy a modmic or a desk mic. Another alternative is to buy a gaming wireless headphone. I opted to buy a desk mic it was the best solution.

I had this issue a couple of times before it finally worked. Turn off the headset, and forget the device from your Windows 10 PC. Restart your PC if you have to. Then connect again. Mic will only work if you see the "voice" text once you are connected.

​@@fawadali4082 Hmm, quite strange. To clarify, the mic device name that gets picked up for the MIC on my Zoom/Skype is: "DeviceName" Hands-Free AG Audio. It is a Microsoft driver dated 18-Mar-2019 version 10.0.18362.1 Sadly with Windows I'm not sure on anything much further besides forgetting the device, resetting everything, restarting, and trying to connect again.
