Having a frosty cold one and watching some of your videos. I hope you are feeling better. Stay Strong.

It's a leather punch. Supposed to be used just for leather, but if you work around cattle or horses, it becomes a multi purpose punch rather quickly (note Stuart's hoof pick reference). You could even put ear tags on calves with that thing, in a pinch. The way I've always looked at it is that if it had an edge it would be a reamer, and if it had an edge and a thread hole it would be a sewing awl. Or maybe I spend too much time contemplating these things. lol Cheers, buddy.

Thanks David, I just thought it might have had a beveled edge like the punches you see on a Cattleman's knive pattern. But, All in all I'm happy with it, can't wait to carry/use it and get some patina on it.

LoL 😂 Thanks Mota Man! I do enjoy having knives displayed. It's no fun looking at a stack of knife boxes in the closet. And it gives me a good choice for my carry on any given day. Soon as I heal up, I'll be rotating different knives in and out of the display. Thanks for watching Bud! Take Care ✌️

Just bought a case stockman myself in cv ,used,and I agree about case jigging it's gorgeous. I'm actually surprised, I very never liked the stockman pattern much but I've been buying a few recently and I've been converted. Thanks for sharing.atb paddy

It never was my favorite pattern either Paddy, but one with a punch, CV steel & some beautiful covers is something I can appreciate. YTB🍀😊👍

Rick I picked up the Case medium stockman with the Carribean Blue bone scales and I also got the large Case Stockman with the Bone Stag scales,this one with the CV blades and the medium has the Stainless blades,waiting to see how the CV patina.

I think the CV steel holds a "smoother" all around patina as opposed to 1095 carbon that sometimes gets patchy. At least that's my experience. Take Care Larry! always good to hear from you ✌️

Yup I hear ya!!!! You should see some of the ones I get!!!!! I didn’t see any with a punch I love a punch!!!!!!! That’s weird there should be a edge on it I would think........ be well bud stay safe...... get that back better!!!!!!💊

Thanks Pete I can't wait to get healed up for sure. They make this knife in black synthetic & yellow synthetic, both were sold out so I bought this. Technically that's a punch, but 99.9% of the time, there will be some kind of edge or at least a curved slightly sharpened edge to it. But it'll definitely punch through anything - it's got a pretty badass look to it.

Man, that Zombie killer looks pretty cool!! I like that color green! I also have a video on a 6318 coming up in a few weeks. I got a great deal on mine used, but your s looks so pretty, it makes me want more! Thanks buddy!

Yeah KD..That Blackjack is a beast, can't wait until I'm healed up so I can't put it through the gauntlet. The Toxic Green Micarta is insane.. 😆 The 6318 is a great little knife, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I haven't put mine down since I got it.✌️

Your collection is amazing, it is a good thing listening to you discussing individual knives and reading the knowledgeable comments, can see you doing a village hall stall based Q and A style talk in a rural setting. (After you and Jersey have set up a shop.) The radioactive style warning on the packet was a bit scary.

Thanks Stone, Sorry about the delayed reply. Things are still touch & go over here. I'm glad you enjoyed the rambling. Soon as I heal up a bit, I want to rent a booth at one of the knife shows up here in Michigan this summer or fall. I would get to ramble on with all kinds of knife enthusiasts! Talk about a town hall setting.😂

I don’t have one, but maybe the thinking on that punch is that with two right angle edges is will bore when twisted both directions? Beautiful handles, thanks for sharing it.
@Warthogg13 жыл бұрын
Hi Hobie, sorry it took so long to reply bud. But the spring tension is minimal, & there is no lock. So twisting would only be feasible to ream out a hole that's already drilled. It feels like if you tried to bore your own hole, it would fold right up on you. Definitely a light duty punch, leatherwork tool for sure.

Hey Rick. I've got an old Case 6592 from the 80s with the punch it's beveled but not much of a sharp edge.
@Warthogg13 жыл бұрын
That's what I was kind of expecting JC, just a beveled edge to clean out or expand the holes. But it is a Stockman, a rancher knife, so a basic leatherwork punch makes sense.
@norby04183 жыл бұрын
I have two with punches and both look like yours so my guess would be that’s normal. Mine punches and scrapes just fine.
@Warthogg13 жыл бұрын
Hi again Arlen, I was able to put a more defined edge on the punch & I also did some modifications to the Sheepsfoot blade, lowering it a little - which solved the problem of the punch hanging up on it when closing. So now, I consider it "New & Improved" lol Thanks for watching & your input!✌️

LoL 😂 Anita!! I'm so glad you enjoy the view...My hope is, once I'm healed up, rent a booth at one of the knife shows here in Michigan & display my whole collection for all the knife nuts. I went to many in my lifetime & loved seeing all the different knives that collectors would display. I'm blessed to have been able put together a collection I'm proud of - It's very diverse & inclusive, which was how I wanted it. My desk puts a smile on my face everytime I walk by it in my 3yr old shoes😂

They also came in black synthetic and yellow synthetic handles for $44..but those were sold out & Shepherd hills Cutlery gives free shipping after $49 so the bone for $56 shipped to door is an alright deal.

Okay first it’s a 6318 CV. That appears to have very good F&F. So what’s weird?
@Warthogg13 жыл бұрын
It's actually a 6318PU CV which is clearly labeled in the title. The PU marking meaning Punch. What is weird? Most punch tools have a discernible edge along their face. This one does not. Seems to me, even if Case designed the punch for leather work, they may as well put a semi-sharp edge on it for woodworking too. Something that would only take 30 seconds in the production process that is purposely avoided seems weird to me Arlen.

Great answer Zen, Don't need to know everything about it to appreciate it's awesomeness. All in all, for going in blind on it... It's not flawless, but will be a nice carry.
