yes because for some reason Citroen stopped driving instructors having them and mobility having them and then they started charging £750 extra for Platinum Grey when Shark Grey had been the most popular choice, like they were committing suicide

This was not the honest review. To say that new suspension system is not comfortable enough and that golf is more comfortable is a just a big lie and shame for What Car! Cactus is not a perfect car,but in his segment and even above is the one that is most comfortable and that is his strength and selling point. Not everybody want stiff and sporty cars!

I agree completely, I already booked my C4 Cactus and I can't wait to get it. The review is quite out of context because the given model doesn't have the advanced comfort seats and obviously it doesn't have the new suspension system. If it had then she would be comparing it with Rolls Royce and not with Golf or other car. Maybe the interior is strange but it has it's own story story. My current car is C5 Exclusive and I know what a good ride is. The suspension of the C4 Cactus is very close to the famous hydroactive of the C5. In fact, the difference is barely noticeable.

makisce they do have he new suspension, standard on all c4cactus. I have a DS5 SPORT (2017) and I test drove a cactus a few days ago and it’s a very comfortable car. I do think it’s my next one, in a couple of years when it’s time to change.

I'm waiting for my new cactus to arrive in the next 2 weeks. Since I drive a lot and I needed a family car so it's perfect for that. The comfort that I get for that price can't be compared.

Yes, I agree. In this video, What Car have let themselves down with a totally biased review. The new suspension and extra sound-proofing have made the new C4 Cactus a class leader for comfort and relaxed driving, desirable for all but the boy racers.

@ I have the car for a year and 8 months now and I absolutely love it. This kind of reviews are maybe financed against the brand or there is a lack of basic knowledge.

The EAT6 automatic version is brilliant. I should know as I own one! Quick, smooth shifts and since it is a torque converter unit made by AISIN it is a lot more dependable than the DSGs by volkswagen.

Golf, Golf, Golf, so if you want a car, buy a bloody Golf and put car reviewers out of a job! Some of us like things a little different and less Germanic thank you. This car is different, it stands out, maybe not to everyone’s taste, but at least it’s a change from the norm, lets face it the beetle was bloody ugly, noisy, uneconomical and lousy to drive and it sold in millions. I think you are missing the point Rebecca.

Then you'll drive some crap that you'll pay a bit less for at first, but will end up costing you more in the long run due to worse fuel economy, higher repair bills and greater loss of value when you sell it in a few years.

@@derbigpr500 Er, how wrong you are! VW group cars... Common as mud. Way more expensive (thus false economy!) And designs that a child could design with a crayon, cardboard box and a ruler! One day I dream that they discover a rounded edge! I had the last Citroen cactus and had no issues whatsoever! What Car are absolutely obsessed with VW Group making their videos insanely predictable and repetitive! No point in watching anything when you know the outcome every single time!

Why is everything compared to the Golf or Octavia? Does the Astra not compete? The 3? Focus? It's almost as if Volkswagen group pays for the amount of times you squeeze their name into a review!

A Cactus is way more comfortable than any Vw or Audi. You can get a Cactus with active suspension that soaks up any bump. Why not compare a Cactus with a Mercedes G wagon? Doesn't make any sense to mention the Skoda.

I have a C4 Cactus auto, fantastic car lovely to drive and very very comfortable. Well in my opinion at least. On the down side the touch screen means if you need to change the heating and your driving you have to look away from the road or pull over.

Nor am I. The Cactus is likely to be cheaper and certainly quirkier than either of the VW stablemates, and it has no sporting pretensions, so there's no point reviewing it as if it should. It'll probably be easier to park and more able to withstand parking dings than either of them.

Well you can have different tastes and buy something inferior just for the sake of being different, nobody is preventing you. It's a funny psychological phenomenon that people show, they hate on good cars just because they're popular and people buy them a lot. It's a fact that VAG makes the best car in pretty much every segment they compete in. The Golf is without a doubt the best hatchback overall with by far the most qualities and feels more mature and like a car from a class above, more than any other car in the segment. Same is true for the Octavia which doesn't have a rival. Not to mention the Polo, or would you rather buy something that feels like a childs toy when you sit in it just so it won't be a VAG car. There's already people who know something about products they're buying, and they buy the best they can for their money, objectively speaking, and then there's those who don't know what to look at or can't appreciate qualities that actually matter and can't recognize properly engineered, designed, developed and manufactured products, so they buy inferior things for irrelevant subjective reasons.

exactly what makes you compare it to a skoda octavia? what a non sensical review: forgot to mention the only key point, which is the new suspension set up.

And the new suspension setup is garbage. It's made to fool people who know nothing about cars and make them believe it's more comfortable than it actually is. It's ok on low speeds and over big bumps, and when you drive it smoothly and slowly it gives you a fake sensation of being more comfortable than it is because the body of the car moves slowly and floats a bit, but as soon as you start driving it over 6/10 on some corners or broken pavement, it starts to fall apart. When you drive it quickly over some broken pavement, it becomes blatantly obvious the suspension components lack rigidity and the whole body of the car lacks rigidity, it starts to crash and the chassis resonates too much, and doesn't soak up smaller bumps properly. On top of that it rolls in corners and during braking and accelerating it's too soft. The rear becomes nervous above 110-120 km/h in the corners where rivals like Astra or Golf feel like they're on rails. Now I know not everyone is a mechanical engineer and will be able to tell that, but to me it's clear as a day that the suspension of the C4 is NOT as good as on other hatchbacks, and it just uses very soft springs and dampers with those hydraulic stops to compensate for it and give people a fake sense of comfort. VERY SOFT suspension doesn't mean it's better. Anyone can make soft suspension that works when driving slowly and then falls apart when driving quickly. It works on low speeds, but as soon as you drive faster than slowly, it shows the faults it has. It's a car made for slow city driving and cruising. A good suspension starts to work better the harder you drive it. Other cars have suspension developed to work all the way to 9/10 or even 10/10 in some cars, and some cars have suspension so good it even works very well and predictably BEYOND the limits of grip, like in the BMW's for example or the new Alfa's, cars which feel natural with all stability systems off. I'd never feel comfortable driving the C4 hard with ESP off, because even with ESP on and NOT really being driven to limits, it felt unstable, boaty, floaty and just uneasy on the same roads where I travel every single day in other cars that take them at higher speeds without braking a swear. That's how you develop proper suspension, to make it work EVERYWHERE and IN ALL conditions, not just at low speed during smooth relaxed cruising like Citroen did, to work when you drive slowly and to suck when you drive quickly. When you drive a Golf hard over broken pavement, it doesn't fall apart, in fact the harder you drive the better it feels. It feels like it's punching the pavement and at not a single moment does it feel like it's lacking rigidity or starts to crash around. Same is true for the new Astra and the Focus.

Citroen has repositioned the new C4 Cactus as a rival to conventional five-door hatchbacks to differentiate it from the recently launched C3 Aircross SUV. Therefore, the comparison to the Skoda Octavia is valid, and the entry-level Octavia is also a similar price range.

I don't think we use definitions like "subcompact" or "compact" in Europe. In any case, would you class an A3 hatchback in a different class to an A3 saloon? The Wikipedia page for C-segment places the Octavia in the same class as the C4.

Latest JD power survey in Germany rates PSA offerings higher than VAG, BMW, JAG etc. Maybe the mechanicals under the c4 cactus are not the most modern but things @ PSA have improved wildly recently.

Actually built on same chassis. While it says C4 in its name, the Cactus is built on the C3 platform so should be similar in size. Not saying one looks better, just pointing out the size thing.

Wrong! French cars are the most comfortable in the world! German have much less comfortable suspenssions! French cars : Peugeot, Citroën , Renault , Opel, BUGATTI, Venturi, Nissan (43% renault), Dacia, Vauxhall, DS, Mitsubishi (50.2% renault) , Alpine etc ...

It doesn't appeal to me, I don't like the styling in the slightest, but I'm glad not everyone has the same tastes otherwise we would all be driving dull boring styling German cars. I have a Mazda 6 saloon and love it big upgrade from the Golf I had before it.

Driving this car for a couple of weeks now, making a very long distance journey in between fully loaded. Diesel, entry level specs. Overall, great economy and comfort in city and highways. Easy to do a lot of miles at average speed. Practical, especially the big box in in front. Not a rev counter,,,,it is though very very soft suspension setting,, it bends very much at corners and can not handle even medium bumps at medium. In case of an emergency, the car is not respond8ng as expected. Take it slow...Not a premium feeling either. Honest car but....

I'm not sure I am willing to pay 20 k for a car with rear windows that don't go down.... Moreover how are we sure that the digital speedometer and so on won't crash after a couple of years? Computers and mobile phones do. I don't know.... It seems like this car is just style. It looks like it was designed by apple. I like their style but I'm not buying a mobile phone...

Wow, have Volkswagen and Skoda (same group, of course) slipped WhatCar a fiver? How biased. Hardly any of the positive aspects of the Cactus and why it has such design touches as flip catch rear windows. Also, please, compare the prices.

I bought one ..nice inside , nice outside but the steering isn't brilliant. It's not responsive as it should be . So I wouldn't buy a Citroen again .

lol comparing it to a VW Golf and an Octavia, an Octavia is a large family saloon or estate car! Cactus us a cheap end lightweight modern day 2CV if you like, hence the weight saving rear windows and non sliding rear seat. And to VW which is a terrible comparison and I'd rather walk than drive a German car, I don't like this review because of the terms "scratchy plastic" being used, there's nothing wrong with the Cactus interior at all, it is very refined. Also on the point of slow sales for the first shape of Cactus,yes because for some reason Citroen stopped driving instructors having them and mobility having them and then they started charging £750 extra for Platinum Grey when Shark Grey had been the most popular choice, like they were committing sales suicide! Why Citroen? Why, Cactus had another 15 years to run! Look at Mini for more information.

There's only one word to describe the Octavia suspension: stiff. I can't even wrap my head around how anyone would compare the Octavia to the C4 Cactus for ride comfort and, even worse, declare the Octavia as the more comfy ride 🤔

Latest JD power survey in Germany rates PSA offerings higher than VAG, BMW, JAG etc. Maybe the mechanicals under the c4 cactus are not the most modern but things @ PSA have improved wildly recently.

J D Reliability surveys and real world reliability and most importantly DURABILITY have nothing to do with each other. Most faults registered in those reliability surveys are idiotic things like "bluetooth takes too long connect" or "sat nav is slow". Let's buy a Golf 1.6 TDI and a C4 1.6 HDI now and let's drive them side by side for a couple of years. See which one feels better after 200-300k km's on the clock, if he C4 reaches that. Let me give you a better example. How many old German cars are still on the roads? LOADS of them. Loads of 20-30 year old Mercs, BMW's, Audi's, VW's. Go to any track day in Europe it's full of old BMW 3 series. Go to any city it's full of old Merc taxis, etc. Go to eastern Europe you'll see a shit ton of Golf 2's and even 1's with 500k to 1 million km's on the clock still working. Now count the amount of French (or Asian) cars from the same time periods, see how many old Citroens you see compared to Golf's for example, and take into consideration that in those times the same amount of Citroen Xsara's for example were sold as the amount of Golfs, even more in some countries. People like to shit on German cars because they have psychological issues which make them feel better to shit on something true and tested, it makes them feel special for going against something that's set in stone, but the fact remains that Germans build by far the best cars and by far the highest amount of great cars in the world. In fact, they build more great cars alone than all other countries in the world combined and contribute more to automotive engineering and industry developments than all other countries combined. Not to mention that German engineers and ex VAG, BMW, Mercedes highly ranked officials are responsible for development of cars in other countries and are responsible for many other brands doing well. For example Kia and Hyundai are doing so well lately because people who work there now used to develop Audi's and BMW's. Just one of many examples. Another example is Tesla, which is stole a whole bunch of engineers from Mercedes. Or did you think Koreans learned how to go from building tin cans to cars that feels oddly German overnight? Even Cadillac is using ex- BMW engineers to make it's cars feel more like BMW's and they even publicly state that they use BMW's as benchmarks when developing new models. So go a bit easy on the anti-German car hate.

Dude,You gotta stop Your german bias towards cars. I even red Your 'review' of the golf suspension and I gotta say,You made my day with this joke. French cars are known for being reliable (If You take care for it) and cheap. Unlike most of the BMW,VW and Mercedes. BMW's brake every fucking month and the repairs are not cheap at all. Mercedes is more reliable,but still,If You come to the point of making any kind of repairs,Just be ready to say goodbye to Your savings. If You see the way germans make the cars,You'll understand why they lost the WW2. The simple things that can be made,they just like to make them more complicated therefore being able to brake a lot more easily. So please,come down on the Earth.
