You get what you pay for. Sure it may not be the safest car in case of accidents, but it is brand new and you have a warranty in case something doesn't work right, but when you buy a used car for the same money you may get something even less safer with hidden problems or something that will happen eventually. What I am saying is that when you go second hand you don't know what you are buying, most people don't care about your well being and they will sell you a faulty car or a car that was wrecked and badly repaired.

Yes! After owning one for the last four years, a different model though a 4x4 / 1.2 L petrol/ 125HP one that I have tried out with huge landies and Toyotas in the south of Israel, in the marsh areas of the north, in streams and sand. She (Nadia is her name) is definitely my playmate and great to drive to the office during the week. Very happy with the price, did get the underside armoured for all the off roading and no problems so far. Gas her up, service once a year and she waits for my next adventure. Cheers!

I have owned the previous generation diesel 4x4 for over a year. Goes anywhere, does everything you want and more, for half the price of rival manufacturers equivalent models. Hard, easily cleaned, plastic panels are great in a workhorse vehicle. An additional bonus is that Dacia do not restrict four wheel drive to only their most prestigious trim levels. You get what you pay for and you need only pay for the options you want. Other manufacturers should take note. Quite simply, the only option for many buyers to experience owning a brand new car with exactly the specifications they want.

I have now driven my Renault Duster for 18 months. Before this I drove a Mercedes Benz E 350 CDI. The Duster is way more comfortable! The Duster is more reliable! In my view the Duster is real value for money. From 30 000 kms, the E 350 started to present problems, mainly with sensors. Limp mode in the E 350 was common! My Duster certainly does not compare in the power stakes, but what a pleasure not having that nagging feeling that another sensor breakdown was imminent . These were very expensive repairs. My Duster has thus far proved to be peace of mind motoring.

We ordered/bought the 15th Anniversary of the Duster, TCe 130 GPF engine, full option (except for the 360 degree camera, which I would never use anyway), two days ago. We were able to get a very good deal for our old Kia Rio car from Dacia and on top of that they gave a nice discount for the Duster because it's a car they have in (over)stock due to Corona. We payed less than 16.000 Euros for that beauty!! The car will be delivered in about 1 to 2 weeks (max), and I can't wait to drive it around!! PS: I fell in love with the Duster back in 2014 already, but back then it had too many flaws to convince me buying it. I'm happy that I waited 6 more years to buy me one. The second generation surely improved A LOT. It's clear Dacia listened to their customers and tackled all the problems customers had serious complaints about. Thumbs up from me!

Frankly for those of us who prefer to own their own cars (rather than leasing one) the way the market is moving towards the future, it seems silly dropping £30-50k on a premium car when soon all 2nd hand values will fall off a cliff. There is this basic question: how much would you pay for a car? Duster is basic, of course, but for the right price. Add soft materials inside, electronic gizmos, more powerful engines and you will end paying 5-10 Thousand more. That brings Duster in the area of Kadjar and Qashqai. This brand is owned by Renault-Nissan and has its well defined place in the french-japanese portfolio. Negative comments are useless. Everything comes down to cost. If is was more sophisticated it would not have been at all.
@Dosedmonkey5 жыл бұрын

I think the bigger question is, will people prefer to buy a slightly older SUV from a quality brand? The duster has a lot going for it if you were ONLY interested in a brand new car but I can't think of any reason why someone wouldnt instead go for a 2015/16 competitor. Better quality, better engines. And some have manufacture warranties that extend to 5+ years. This is a biproduct of having massive market depreciations in the car values.

I don't agree with one thing. The bashing of the quality of interior plastics. They are an upgrade from the previous version, but the way more expensive competition does not offer better plastics nowdays either. The T-Roc for example is a hard plastic horror inside, the Vitara, same hard glossy plastic that always makes cracking noises over bumps or if you touch it, the Ateca, although much more expensive, still has comparable plastics in many places.

Very good point. What car under 40 000 doesn't have cheap plastic interior ? The best you can hope for your interior at this point in time is that they integrated the screen, and it isn't like somebody glued a tablet on top of your cheap plastic dash full of blank buttons that don't do anything in your version of the model. Which I'm very pleased to say, isn't the case in my Dacia Sandero Urban Explorer (and neither in the Duster), and was in my previous Ford Focus, which costs almost twice as much.

Only real complaint is clutch being too expensive as it is dual mass around £1200....also bites way up the pedal..too high...there is a clutch foot rest on my 16 plate duster.....only buy the 1.5 dci model...great torque...6 speed and 54 mpg around town and motorway....very very reliable car

How the hell can you call this a review of the 2020 Dacia duster when the numberplate clearly says that the car is from 2018? Even the upload date was in 2018 and the car has changed a lot since then with a load of new engines for example.

Lol i have a 1.2 tce petrol turbocharged engine with 125 bhp so i dont understand why there is only a 1.6 petrol and a 1.5 diesel

In UK they only bring certain models to make sure they still keep a market for Renault and Nissan models. Anywhere else in Europe you can have better engine choices and automatic transmission on Dacia models apart from UK.

So you don't get tce 100 to 150 petrol engines in England. Is there a reason for that ?

my fist dacia duster has 200.000 km , i just bought the new version. not one complaint about this car. of course it's not a landrover , but not everyone is a miljonair. buy a small japanees car , and you spent more. and for older people , the higher seat makes it easy to get in and out. driving in the mountains in switserland : a turn of 180° with a climb of 35% ? no problem .

Your first Duster, was it a petrol or a diesel? Good to hear it worked well for you.

I'm pretty sure they've expanded the Duster engine sizes since this video was made? Like the 1.2 and 1. Petrol engines.

I think should make an updated review with the 130 tce petrol version, it is far superior to the 1.6. The was one point that were incorrect theres no front parking sensors with the comfort model, Which I think there should be as the bonnet is quite high being an SUV.

The gas engine is actualy more powerful than diesel one. It just needs to revv more. Matter of habit.
