I have a 2019 F250 Lariat Sport 6.7PS. My understanding with the "Manual Regen with Active Regen Inhibit" gives me the option in "Settings", to deactivate auto regen by "un-checking" the "Auto Regen" box, that way it doesn't start a Regen when I'm 3 minutes from work or home. This is handy so I don't keep interrupting a regen. The truck tells me to "Regen" when it is "Deactivated". If I get a warning prompt to "Regen" I simply get on I-70, here in Colorado, scroll to the "Settings" check the "Auto Regen" box which activates auto regen process. I then take a beautiful drive into the mountains. I watch my percentage drop to "0%" then turn around and go home, this typically takes 20-30 minutes. I still get the Manual Regen option when the DPF hits 99% . I believe I had to turn on the DPF % in the FORScan app in order to closely monitor the filter percentage.

If you turn on option 3 in that menu it will still regen automatically. In the far right menu on the truck screen it gives you a box with a check and says auto regen. If you don’t want it to regen you just uncheck the box. I turned this on in my 21’ F-350 Tremor with FORScan.

Dealer did my 2017 a couple of years ago. When it hits 100% it will give you a choice to select regen. It runs 2000 rpms for 30 minutes to complete. Seems to last longer than regular driving regen.

Not sure if this applies with the powerstroke but on my big Mack/Detroit motors, the parked Regens take a long time because they have to get the exhaust temps up to that 1300-1500 degrees before it starts cleaning. But when you’re going down the road under high load your exhaust temps are already hot, and then those vaned turbos can artificially increase load. Fun to watch what the engine is doing with my scan tool while pulling big hills with the ole 650 horse Detroit

Just cleaned my 2017 with 22%. Got it down to 8% with my Autel scanner. My XLT doesn’t have auto command so I bought that scanner. Great investment if you don’t have that option.

I just performed this OCR in my driveway. 21 f-250. After it was complete and the engine idled down. I tried taking it for a drive and upon take off and braking to a stop the engine acted as if it were going to cut out and die but it would always stay alive. Drives fine but idles at 500rpm. What’s wrong?

I see the need for this but I don't need this in my current situation. But when I was driving a Freightliner M2 it would have many times to regen all damn day. So when do you think it wanted to do it? Yup when I pulled in the yard at 6pm. I let it do it once. If it was manual on that rig I'd do it at lunchtime.

I have a 2019 Ford F250 Platinum with 6.7l turbo diesel and turned on Manual Regen using ForScan. When done, you'll have the option to select Auto Regen from your console. If you deselect this the console will prompt you to clean your DPF at 100% full. If you check the Auto Regen option to force the Regen the system will perform the regen automatically. I have noticed that when I have Auto Regen checked the system will go into Regen automatically when certain conditions are met, even when the DPF is not at 100% yet, which I'm okay with as long as the system has an opportunity to complete the cleaning cycle. So I typically uncheck the Auto Regen until I am close to 100% and know that I will be doing highway speeds for at least 20 minutes, which is what it normally takes to bring the DPF back down to 0%.

I brought mine to my local dealer in SoCal. They spent about 45 minutes and then told me they couldn’t turn it on. They said my truck already had it and I advised them that it did not have it. My truck doesn’t even show when I am in Regen.

2022 F350 Diesel. 9100 miles on it, most of that was towing our 5th wheel RV. Yesterday, we were NOT towing, and in a lot of standing still traffic. I'd shut the engine off for a bit, we'd start to move an I'd start up, move up.. idle a while.. turn off. Did a lot of slow driving as well. Today, headed to Mt Rushmore, and on the way back I got a flash of a warning message on my dash. I don't have the large dash, we have an XLT trim. I didn't see the message, and clicked OK to clear it. Noticed, for the first time, we had NO acceleration. I could drive but if I needed to go up hill, forget it. Managed to hit 60 mph for 5 or so minuets. Anyway, if finally cleared up and off I go. Get home to notice a message on my phone from my Ford App. Said DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER CLEANING. Said to just drive over 30mph for 20 minutes until message turns off.

The only time my 2019 250 started a Regen at 80% and not at 99% was after 3 or 4 consecutive incomplete Regen cycles. I have never actually seen a 100%

As you said my dealer had a heck of a time knowing what I was talking about. They finally got it right and installed it on my 18 Drw F350 king ranch. I’ve noticed my truck likes to active regen around 80-85% when I’m driving, I’ve done 1 manual regen at 100% and it sucks back the fuel and takes about 30 mins to complete. Good Gauge to have to know when you need to go for a good drive 👍 thanks

Thanks for this info. My 2020 doesn’t have this option and I want it so bad. It will start to regen when we are running around town and you can’t breath in the cab. You literally have to open all the windows to fumigate the cabs. It’s brutal !!! I’m sure my local dealership will have no clue.

I have a 2021 Ford F-250 diesel lariat and it keeps going into regen? I had a 2017 but got totaled and it didn’t seem to regen as much. I know that isn’t much info but the truck is brand new for it straight from the Kentucky plant.

Typically about every 500 miles. But they are quick. If you are making a bunch of short trips its likely not getting a complete regeneration.

Just purchased a 2022 allumiduty I do not currently have the the ability to view how dirty the DPF is, nor do I have an option to perform a Manual regeneration or Ocr. Currently I have 1600 miles on the truck and I have yet to see any prompt to perform a DPF Regeneration, this is my First Diesel truck. My daily Driving does consist of about 18 miles one way with about 6 stops in between all back roads of Pennsylvania and Delaware. What should I do? I am trying learn as much as possible about the truck and proper maintenance.

I am trying to figure this out... I placed an order for a 22 F250 a week ago. I still have time to call and make changes if I want and am considering adding OCR to the truck for $230! My reason is I won't be driving but a few miles each day to work so the truck won't have time to heat up and do a proper regeneration, and when it finally does, chances are it will get shut off very soon after the process starts... So, my question is: 1. If I add this option before my truck gets built, is it the same thing? 2. If I don't add this before the truck is built, can I just go up to the dealership and have them activate it anytime? 3. Or can I do this myself via Forscan for free? Thanks for any help!

I've asked service writers at two Ford dealers about enabling operator commanded regen. They look at me like I'm speaking a foreign language they don't understand. When they ask the diesel mechanics, the answer is, "Never heard of that." If you have to download software to update the IPC module that is not a feature of FORScan as it is free software from forscan.org that's been developed by Ford enthusiasts to allow reprogramming of existing module functions. If the module needs an update with additional software, that's not something you can do with FORScan that I'm aware of.

You should do a regeneration video with a water methanol injection system installed. Supposedly it doubles the amount of time between regens, especially when using your truck for towing.

Methanol injection is the biggest waste of money. After about 12 dynoruns on a 2012 6.7 Cummins that was just over 600 rwhp I took it off and never looked back.

On the lower end models (XL, XLT), C&C you can force regen with OCR enabled. On the higher end models (Lariat, Platinum, KR), you only get the DPF capacity screen. Usually the work trucks are the lower end models. The work trucks usually sit idling (oil fields) all day where you need to force regen. The higher end models are normally not used for work (construction).

Okay so off topic for sure, but if you could answer a question for me. I have a 2011 f250 fully deleted. Replaced all 8 injectors with some reman’s from Injectors Direct about 7 months ago. I did a fuel filter change about two weeks ago, and an oil change a little bit before that. The problem is, these driver’s side injectors started knocking. Would having changed (incorrectly, possibly?) oil or fuel filters caused a knocking issue with the injectors? Also got a code for my crankshaft position sensor, could that be the issue? Or could they just be injectors going bad already?

You know anything about the interior chimes? My truck recently started playing all of the chimes through the dash and no longer the regular speakers. I have played with the truck in forscan and can't find any setting for it. Not a big deal but it sounds like crazy compared to before.

Nice AROD need some help I have a 2015 F450 6.7 Deleted, it had P0269 P02D8 and i replaced injector #3 it had a injector knock when i unplugged the injector connector the knock would go away so its good now and also replace injector #7 and the check engine light code P02D8 come on. Thanks

"Less Manual Regen Initiation" "Manual Regen Initiation" "Manual Regen with Active Regen Inhibit" My fear is i'll forget to Regen my truck and have it fill the DPF if I select "Manual Regen with Active Regen Inhibit" since it turns off Active Regen. "Manual Regen Initiation" leaves Active Regen on and also allows you to OCR it when certain parameters are met, correct? Hopefully that makes sense.

I have a 2021 F350 with 34k miles, bought it about 4.5 months ago at 26k miles. I’ve never seen anything about regen pop up. I have a lot of short daily drives then some longer 300 mile trip. Is this normal? I see his is 70% at 3699 miles.

On my 19 last summer, I took it into dealer to have ocr enabled via ford IDS. First service manager said he didnt think it could be done unless "ordered from factory" that way. He then asked his "MASTER DIESEL TECH" and he said can't do it. After informing him they could, and having to "Make a few phone calls" my truck was pulled in 5min later told you're all set OCR enabled on menu screen. Funny how it worked out 🤣

Too bad we can’t have the option to trigger a regen when it’s convenient for US (the customer) Like when we’re home, on a weekend, in our driveway, when we have 30mins to waste/wait/watch.

If you turn on option 3 in that menu it will still regen automatically. In the far right menu on the truck screen it gives you a box with a check and says auto regen. If you don’t want it to regen you just uncheck the box.

@@76Miket54 yeah .. I got that. What I was referencing is I wanted to trigger “REGEN NOW” and it would start. As it’s configured now, I have to disable auto regen so it won’t start a passive regen while I’m driving around town. Have wait till “REGEN Soon” alert flashes, drive home, put in park .. then the options present themselves to trigger the active regen while safely parked. I would much prefer (when I’m ready, and at home, and I have 30 mins) drive the truck around the block to heat it up, park, and hit the “Regen Now” option. (Which is not an option)

I took my 2020 into the dealership for a recall repair about 2 months ago and asked them to activate this while it was there. They told me they could but it would cost me $130…. Ok, so do it! All they did was turn on the monitor where I can see the percentage of how full it is, never says anything about giving me a manual option. The first few times it went into regen, it was 70-80%. The last 3 times though it has been all the way up to 100% full and it stops the regen process with 20% remaining. Is there anything I can do to make it finish off that last 20% other than buying forscan and making these changes myself or having to take it back in for them to do a manual regen? Just ordered my 2022 F450. Optioned for the OCR. Once I get it, I'll do some testing and let y'all know if I can do it manually under 100%. I'm wondering if you get OCR from the factory, if you can regenerate before 100%. Sounds like a no but I'll test it out. Of course...by the time I get it, this will already be verified! 😂😂

I changed it to perimeter only. That’s seems to work for a bit and then it goes back to all sensors. I guess I should have asked is it something the customer can disable, I am not sure I want to shut it off all of the time.

I have a 2020 f350 6.7 with about 15000 miles and I have not noticed a regeneration cycle yet. Is this normal. I was led to believe at 7 thousand miles or so it would regenerate then the dealer said around ten thousand.

Your wrong about the auto inhibit. That option gives u the option to be able to turn the auto regen on or off. Just programmed it on my super duty. Not trying to be a a-h*ole, I know your super knowledgeable
