2020 Ford Transit Transmission Fluid Change

Thanks for the Video, very well done. Now I know why I can't find the dip stick. This is my fleet vehicle and a lot of my colleagues have had transmission failure and I wonder why. I wanted to check the trans fluid level because my transmission always seems to slip or skip when I am going around a corner or up a hill.

Dont the newer transits use ULV fluid? and how much est to change out the filter you guess with all that crossmember etc in the way?

They definitely take ulv. Also you need to know the transmission fluid temperature before you can take an accurate reading off the dipstick

On a Transit van, the subframe must be dropped to replace the transmission filter.

​@@livefree_with_vinnienope!!!! A mechanic found a way around not doing that. You take out 2 motor mount bolts, and 2 transmission mount bolts. The you raise the engine and transmission a few inches, and now you can remove the transmission pan!

Thank you! Can someone explain where one should be looking on the dipstick? What is the range that you're trying to shoot for? I know the old dipsticks had a hot and cold side and high and low level marks. This one doesn't seem to.

Excellent video Dairle. Question: I do not want to work near a hot catalytic converter but I do want to change the fluid. Can I removed transmission fluid with pump and measure the amount, then replace with new fluid the exact same amount?

i want to point out this 10r80 ten speeds takes ULV mercon its the ultra low viscosity fluid.i work on a fleet of these...having anything other tha this ULV will cause you issues.

@@albowrx AMSOIL will be better. Besides, AMSOIL will give you a new transmission if it fails d/t their fluid. It is stated on their website.

Question sir. I just called a Trans shop and they said for my 2016 Ford Transit, I can only do a flush, but seeing this you can do it. Is there a difference between a 2016 and 2020 Transit?

@saltyhumansWX Good question! They are pretty much the same except the Transmission Dipstick maybe on the opposite side. Also the 2016 use a different Fluid then the 2020 & up. Check your Owner's Manual on the proper Transmission Fluid type to use.

Too bad they use a dual media filter half fine and half medium and they tend to clog so changing just the fluid is pissing in the wind
