What do you guys think? Let me know if you would buy an ARM laptop below! I think this option is better ➡ geni.us/ITj89 Surface Book S ➡ bhpho.to/2uGJ62V 512GB Micro SD (even cheaper now on Amazon) ➡ geni.us/USFf I would buy this great laptop instead (Amazon)➡ geni.us/ITj89 Or even this crazy good deal (Amazon)➡ geni.us/9vlKa Max Tech Wallpapers ➡ bit.ly/2WNc6Qw

A couple of other benefits. Because of the processor you can charge this off of a cell phone charger. It prefers 25 watts, but will charge off of something as low as 18 watts. Super light, portable, great battery, great display, good sound. The keyboard is OK. Overall, great for on the go work.

Thanks for the thorough, quick review. I've been looking for a laptop that has: 1. LTE 2. Great battery life 3. USB-C charging 4. Thin, light, small screen (ultraportable?) 5. Backlight keyboard 6. Touchscreen 7. Sit on my lap like a normal laptop (meaning not like the surface pro) The galaxy book s seems to be the first laptop which checks every box. I need the computer for business use, which for me is basically traveling, typing (google docs, sheets), email, and research online. I was planning on buying a chromebook, but I have not been able to find one which checks every box. Should I just use this computer as a chromebook through chrome, or do you have any other laptops / chromebooks to suggest?

I've got to be honest with you, this isn't a review, where's the physical heat, noise, battery life and real world performance tests? This just seems like you a reading from a specification list and providing your opinion. I know ARM is limiting in terms of programs but there is bound to be tests you can do that gives feasible measurements outside of artificial tests.
@Ignacio.Romero

What? It's a low wattage fanless CPU, it runs cold and obviously makes no noise
@Crazyd2050
@Crazyd2050 4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely no heat on mine so far
@metrotrain644
@metrotrain644 4 жыл бұрын
@@Ignacio.Romero It was just a general comment about how the overall test was lacking. Although there's no fan and 'runs cold', how cold is cold? Does it throttle? Does it completely fail at long running tests? Does the throttle have a big effect on performance? If you push it too hard, could it reach alarming temperatures due to no fan? So much was missed from this review.

RISC versus CISC CPUs has always been a challenge for industry. After Apple left PowerPC everyone thought the debate of RISC vs CISC was dead now with ARM creeping into the PC market the conversation is starting again. Personally I believe RISC to be the superior architecture because of scaling and better direct control of hardware ASICs. It's also less code for the software developers to write. So the future looks bright for ARMs RISC based CPUs as a viable option to replace the aging x86/64 architecture. But we still need BIG ARM Cores not just low-power cores to really know if ARM is the future.

It’s like you’re finding it hard to give it a compliment. Or when you do, you minimize by comparing it to Apple and “it’s still not saying much”. I all about Apple, but dang dude if you’re gonna “review” other products, you should probably not be so much of an Apple Fanboy in those videos.

Never understood the SIM argument. I click the wi-fi menu on my Mac and just select my phone. When they're logged into the same Apple ID, my Mac can turn on internet sharing on my phone, and bypass the password requirement that anyone else would need. ARM is just too limited - might as well get a Galaxy Tab s6 with a keyboard cover OR one of the convertables and keep a USB-C power pack for all day compute. I've been having 18 hour + battery life for about 4 years now with the Galaxy Tab Pro S and Galaxy Book 12 by using a battery pack - and it has none of the limitations of ARM.

With turning websites into apps with the new Edge browser, it is great. added a TB sd card and I am set for a very long time on it. Hardly used any of the 256GB on the primary drive. also, if you have a powerful machine at home whatever it is, using google's remote desktop is perfect. Very light, fast enough and much better than Chrome OS at least for me. :-)

Why have sim function at all if it doesn't support all the bands? It's dumb and short sighted considering it limits availability to potential customers.

I have seen another review of this model, purchased from Verizon, which states that the device was NOT locked to Verizon. The reviewer inserted his Google Fi card, and found the device to work just fine with that service, which was using T-Mobile's network in his case. There are also comments from others that the Verizon purchased device is not locked to the Verizon network, and can work on T-Mobile, AT&T, etc.

You would need to know if all of the programs you run support ARM processors. If a chromebook won't work for you, this probably won't either.

@@r0main.895 The i9-9980HK's Geekbench score is about twice the A12X. I think the custom chip will mostly replace the 13' U-Processor-powered Pros and Airs, but keep the H-Series 16, especially when Comet Lake-H is on the way.

That's what we are hoping for. That their transition to ARM chips goes well.

Waiting for Nvidia's first laptop aimed chip for buy ARM laptop. I'm big fan of them. I don't care how much horsepower it have. It is the feature. Nvidia aquired ARM for 40 billion dollars, then I'm im in to buy one of them, I'm pretty sure they will do more for ARM architecture than Apple. However Apple's effort is enoght to buy first ARM laptop but I'm not a Apple guy. Nice work Apple. You are the first company which provides Features technologies to your customers.

The Samsung Galaxy S is built with an aluminum chassis. 💻 Anodizing aluminum creates a thin layer of aluminum oxide on the metal. This protective oxide layer has a rougher surface that allows dyes or paints to stick to the metal. It is harder than aluminum, so it offers a measure of protection. It also gives the aluminum corrosion resistance. Research, Analyze, and use your Critical Thinking Skills! 🧐

This and the Surface Pro X are nice glimpses of the future of Windows on ARM, but ultimately I agree with you that it's probably not ready quite yet. Here in Australia, the price of this is similar to a Macbook Air or Surface Laptop 3 (though with less storage), but when you consider the app limitations of Windows on ARM, I'm not sure it's worth it for longer battery life and LTE. You'd have to be 100% sure that you won't run into serious app compatibility issues.
