A couple of other benefits. Because of the processor you can charge this off of a cell phone charger. It prefers 25 watts, but will charge off of something as low as 18 watts. Super light, portable, great battery, great display, good sound. The keyboard is OK. Overall, great for on the go work.

Thanks for the thorough, quick review. I've been looking for a laptop that has: 1. LTE 2. Great battery life 3. USB-C charging 4. Thin, light, small screen (ultraportable?) 5. Backlight keyboard 6. Touchscreen 7. Sit on my lap like a normal laptop (meaning not like the surface pro) The galaxy book s seems to be the first laptop which checks every box. I need the computer for business use, which for me is basically traveling, typing (google docs, sheets), email, and research online. I was planning on buying a chromebook, but I have not been able to find one which checks every box. Should I just use this computer as a chromebook through chrome, or do you have any other laptops / chromebooks to suggest?

I've got to be honest with you, this isn't a review, where's the physical heat, noise, battery life and real world performance tests? This just seems like you a reading from a specification list and providing your opinion. I know ARM is limiting in terms of programs but there is bound to be tests you can do that gives feasible measurements outside of artificial tests.

Absolutely no heat on mine so far
@metrotrain6444 жыл бұрын
@@Ignacio.Romero It was just a general comment about how the overall test was lacking. Although there's no fan and 'runs cold', how cold is cold? Does it throttle? Does it completely fail at long running tests? Does the throttle have a big effect on performance? If you push it too hard, could it reach alarming temperatures due to no fan? So much was missed from this review.

RISC versus CISC CPUs has always been a challenge for industry. After Apple left PowerPC everyone thought the debate of RISC vs CISC was dead now with ARM creeping into the PC market the conversation is starting again. Personally I believe RISC to be the superior architecture because of scaling and better direct control of hardware ASICs. It's also less code for the software developers to write. So the future looks bright for ARMs RISC based CPUs as a viable option to replace the aging x86/64 architecture. But we still need BIG ARM Cores not just low-power cores to really know if ARM is the future.
