I've been using this laptop for about 5 months and LOVE it! I have a work laptop and mainly bought this one for my classes, as I'm a PhD candidate, so I wanted to be able to work on my coursework whenever and wherever. The LTE connectivity is just what I needed and I hardly ever even connect it to WiFi.

@@gibsonede1 Hi! No drawbacks thus far. I'm working on my PhD and have had no problems. I run the Microsoft Office Suite and even SPSS for stats, and haven't run into any compatability issues so far.

Watching this video from my Samsung Galaxy Book S. Been using it for a few months now and loving it. Its value for money is excellent. Superb display as always (Samsung never disappoints with their displays). Sound is decent enough considering how thin this laptop is. The only thing I don't really fancy from this laptop is maybe the keyboard is a bit too shallow, but then again it's really thin and its overall design is excellent. Battery life is good and the charger is just like a cellphone charger, but faster, without a big adaptor like old laptops used to have. It's very light and easy to carry too. Overall, it's worth your money. Don't expect to play games on it though, it's just not built for it ;)

I bought an S back in FEB-15-2020 from verizon . I've been using everyday for communications and checking in via internet. Awesome, I'm considering buy another one as a backup in case this breaks and samsung stops selling them. I use a Dell XPS 15" 7590 for my heavy work. Luv the S, a lot of tech people ask me about it at work.

I bought one for school on my cell plan. I work overnights so it's nice to be able to get my coursework and discussions turned in when I have the free time. The touchpad is a little annoying sometimes but overall it's an amazing laptop and the sound paired with my galaxy buds is insane!

The only thing that attracts me in this laptop is the fact that it's fanless. Fanless means no clogged up ventilation system down the road, and also zero noise.

I have been using for 3-4 weeks and a great device with the proviso that you need to know its limitations. If you are happy with that then it is a good buy ($899 in US ATM). I would recommend downloading Chromium Edge and converting your main sites to web apps. Edge is far better optimised and I can get 15h of streaming easily. I have had plenty of updates which is a good sign, still some bugs, like if you use a USB to Ethernet it will drain your battery on standby, but removing this sorts. As you say, speakers are above average and keyboard is an acquired taste but something I enjoy. It is not a straight forward replacement for a Windows laptop, more an alternative to a Chromebook in functionality. More for those that spend time on the web. Having tasted the Surface Pro X this is def better for my user case with a better keyboard, no floppy keyboard so easier as a laptop, nearly twice the battery life and better value. So a niche product but a worthy entrant.

@@MRQASSIM12 Typing away on my Book S and it has been solid since I bought it. For your use case, it will be great. I get about 12h SOT indoors on wifi, but it does have LTE if need be. Mine is the ARM version and there is now an Intel one so you may have to decide the pros and cons (ARM has better battery and LTE whilst Intel is x86, both the same design). The speakers are great and the display is crisp and bright. Samsung was doing deals on this a couple of months ago, £200 off. It has had plenty of updates, improving performance. It does not heat up even when charging and standby time is a week plus. Good luck...

I do want to point out one of the major perks of this device. (yet I don't have one) One of the major selling points of a windows device that can be connected to your phone plan and unlimited data is that you can stream while in the go. Although this appals to a niche crowd that streams from mobile it is a pretty welcome feature. I wonder how minecraft bedrock runs on the device.

why did they stop making this line of laptops? the concept was awesome, they could have improved it and by now we could probably have a MacBook M1 alternative... I had one back in the day, I can't remember a lot about it, which tells me that the performance was nothing impressive. The software still needed optimisation to work better with the new chip... but I loved the portability... the display wasn't that great either and colours looked a bit washed out

I've been thinking about installing Chrome OS on the successor of this Samsung Laptop with the Intel ARM Chip. You get better performance, better battery life, a better optimized Browser experience plus the option to use Linux apps. Only thing bumming me out is the 16:9 aspect ratio

This thing is amazing. I've had it since launch and it has been great. If you can do all of your work in web apps and 32 bit apps, this one is a no brainer. This laptop performs great in battery saver mode and, with that enabled, I regularly get 12 to 14 hours even though I only charge it to 85 percent. The screen looks great and media consumption on it is brilliant, the speakers are crazy loud for such a thin device. Stay away from the Intel version, it is slower and literal crap. I also have the M1 MBP and that is much more powerful, but this is a whole pound lighter and much thinner. The pouch for this laptop is also very nice.

Why did you use Chrome and not Edge? Chrome available in an ARM64 version but Edge. So you'd have had much better performance.

Really tempting to get, but at the price, it's a tough sell. The limited capability, battery life, and portability, it's a great daily for any student, but those same students have more important items to buy on that price point. Another target could be the traveling business folk, but I assume there's a more competitive selection for them there with their budget.

Samsung Dex has nothing to do with this laptop. That feature is dependent on the phone only, and will work with any Windows laptop.

This laptop won't work with a lot of traditional windows applications because it's using that ARM qualcomm chip. If she needed a laptop for video editing she should return this one and look for other options.
